Something I really don’t understand about Lucas’ takes. Why does he think Rob is amazing but calls Izzy overrated? Rob: 14 wins 3 losses (at middle weight) Izzy: 13 wins 2 losses. (at middle weight) Equal. Rob: 5 (T)KOs, 8 U decisions, and 1 split decision Izzy: 5 (T)KOs, 7 U decisions, and 1 split decision Equal. Rob has more exciting U Decision performances, and Izzy has more 1 punch/kick KOs. Equal. As boring as their rematch was, ROB WAS LITERALLY HALF THE REASON IT WAS BORING! Equal. I’ll just concede the robbery for the sake of argument. The Wins Losses are still basically even and all that means is Izzy and Robb are tied 1/1. Equal. Lastly, they have beaten 7 of the same people and those are the same notable people that they have beaten. The only notable wins they have that the other doesn’t are, Pereira and Silva for Izzy, and Aliskerov and Hall for Rob. (That looks a hell of a lot better for Izzy). Ultimately, I know Izzy and Rob have noticeably different styles, and it’s easy to hate Izzy cause he’s pretty unlikable imo, but they are equal in terms of watch ability and wins and skills minus Izzy having 2 better wins. Conclusion; Lucas Tracy is delusional or forgetful or dishonest.
I haven't listened to the video but have read your comment, so forgive me if this was mentioned, but when talking about great striking I think we can only assume so much based off resumé? I would wager (just my opinion) that given Rob's physical measurements compared to Izzy's, there is an argument to be made that Rob had to refine his striking to an even greater degree to compensate for the lack of physical gifts that someone like Izzy had (height, reach, reflexes, etc). While Izzy is definitely a great striker, there are certain biomechanical positions he can put himself in that a shorter, less rangy fighter could never realistically accomplish. Take his leaning back left hook counter for example (the one he dropped Whittaker with). It is his use of his range and the length of his torso that allows him to keep himself relatively safe in this position while also possessing enough leverage to drop his opponent. This is in a sense a deeply flawed maneuver from a textbook striking perspective, and yet incredibly effective given his unique physical traits.

I would wager (just my opinion) that given Rob's physical measurements compared to Izzy's, there is an argument to be made that Rob had to refine his striking to an even greater degree to compensate for the lack of physical gifts that someone like Izzy had (height, reach, reflexes, etc).
While Izzy is definitely a great striker, there are certain biomechanical positions he can put himself in that a shorter, less rangy fighter could never realistically accomplish.
Take his leaning back left hook counter for example (the one he dropped Whittaker with).
It is his use of his range and the length of his torso that allows him to keep himself relatively safe in this position while also possessing enough leverage to drop his opponent. This is in a sense a deeply flawed maneuver from a textbook striking perspective, and yet incredibly effective given his unique physical traits.

@@joeswanson5486 Islam and Merab both had success in the striking because of the threat of the takedowns. Dustin said he didn’t throw any combinations because Islam would duck under if he did. And Dustin always had to be on high alert for the takedown. In a pure striking match Dustin wins 10/10 times in a pure wrestling match Islam wins 10/10 times, in a MMA fight Islam wins 9/10 times.
@@GDL88you never heard about the threat of the takedown and how that can limit your striking. Khamzat, Ankalaev, Zabit, Shara Magomedov, Muslim Salikhov, etc all have better pure striking than Islam.
