    On the neutral grip pull down, it felt much better than the regular bar after I had my double mastectomy with silicone reconstruction. Breast cancer sucks! My final surgery was last May, and I am feeling ok with the regular bar now.

    I really like doing fully upright dB shoulder presses. As long as you keep the elbow under the weight your shoulder is safe (if the weight is proper). A lot of people tend to have their elbows dip behind the weight at the bottom and this can cause injury. Keep the weight stacked over your elbow and you’ll be fine going fully upright on db shoulder press.

    As for the 90 degrees on the shoulder press, I agree, but with a caveat. Stopping at 90 degrees can help if you have inflammation at the AC joint (or other shoulder issues) and are using a machine.
    Fully agree the front to press movement you showed is better, but machines may not allow that positioning or movement.
    But if you can only use a free machine due to a busy gym, you may need to stop at the 90 and then go for a bit more reps.

    I'm not aware she is getting into competitive weight/power lifting. I saw her doing a workout recently. She must enjoy hanging out in the gym. She did her best to waste as much time as possible. She was doing a zillion sets of two rep sets. For fitness/muscle building there is no reason to do that. It is silly. Prolonged warmups and stretching are also silly. There is no harm doing that of course but it is a waste of time.

    • @Marianne019
      @Marianne019 7 місяців тому +3

      prolonged stretching is most certainly not silly, nor a time waste. She's a former gymnast so she maintains her flexibility by doing so while also reducing any potential injury. Could she prevent them with less stretching? sure. But if you have the time to do better, longer warmup/stretching then you should do so. The amount of people at the gym who hit the weights but do little to nothing about their mobility/flexibility is astonishing. Because of course weightlifting has become more of showing off a physique than having a fully functional body for which you need the holy trinity weights/cardio/stretching.

    • @donwinston
      @donwinston 7 місяців тому

      @@Marianne019 She was born with excellent flexibility. There is no good evidence that stretching prevents injuries. It is one of those things that athletes have been doing for decades based on just "belief" and theories..
