Thanks for looking at my Insignia Jimmy and finally giving me a proper diagnosis. Still deciding what to do with it. The car is fine otherwise and is a nice drive. I'll probably live with it for now and fit a new DPF and get the mapping reset standard.
I paid a couple of grand below the book price so there is a bit of money in it. I could go through the argument with the guy I bought it off but I'm not sure if I can be bothered with the grief.
Lesson learnt and thanks again 👍

Just remove (gut the dpf out) without catalytic converter, (leave the cat inside) after do the proper remap and all will be good without issue, no more dpf problem, everything will be work fain whitout smoke and no more waste of money

I think what's happened here is that they've remapped it, but they didn't reset the DPF Counters.
The ECU most likely thinks the DPF is still blocked.
If you can get someone to plug in a decent Scan Tool, in Special Functions, they need to select DPF Data Reset or DPF replaced.
Also, unplug the connector to the Differential Pressure Sensor once done.
That should turn the message off on the VDO permanently.
Let me know what happens after it's done.

No disrespect to Jimmy but I just don't trust garages anymore. For years I brought my cars to dealerships "under warranty" and outside warranty to keep them regularly serviced but more often than not, I got them back with more issues than they had going in! They forget to screw the oil filler cap back on, they forget to replace the dipstick, they don't tighten the sump plug enough (oil leaked out everywhere), they forget to replace the engine guard, they didn't torque wishbone arms enough (worked loose and could have caused a crash if I hadn't noticed) etc etc. Now I fix my own car (with lessons learned from guys like Jimmy) and my car now passes it's yearly inspection with no faults......which it never did when "experts" were maintaining it. Guys working in garages just don't give a damn as it's not their car they're working on. But they do know how to charge!!!!!

I have a seat ibiza and owned it from 2 years old. Took it in for a blow speaker and the guy who fixed it popped my handle off with a screwdriver chewing up the plastic got the manager out and he said yeah i can see that was our guy (they replaced it) i had a rattle and found out the guy had snapped a plug and just zip tied it back together and this was the main dealer not an independent. Vauxhull changed my grandads oil and forgot to refill it so he drove 4 miles no oil.

hi jimmy, most of them Gm motors need the dpf pressure sensor vented to atmosphere pressure after dpf delete, even you see no reaction on live data it can still set the warning off, especially if a reset was not done before a read.

The distance people are willing to travel says it all Jimmy, fair play,
Im away working on Shetland islands right now,
Trying to get someone to diagnosis why my traction control light is on is turning into a nightmare,
My little scan tool says steering wheel angle sensor, which would be fine if I could find one garage to actually confirm before I buy, ffs

turn the steering fully lock to lock while running. Get tracking done, failing that get the sensor looked at

Hi could I just offer my experience resolving this the way I did today… mine is a 2.0 cdti insignia 2014. It’s been remapped and egr delete. Car is in a healthy state with no issues apart from this ‘exhaust filter cleaning’ message that won’t budge. I have the code saying dpf frequency. Basically it is possible that after too many short trips the car really wants to to a full 100% regen complete not aborting half way through when car engine stops. You need to park up and 3k rev it until live data shows a dpf regen has started… hold it steady at 2-3k and allow it to reach 100%. And viola the error message goes!

ATS buggered up my brakes, supposidly replacing a backplate, no they didnt, used a bolt to hold the shoes on, fitted a battery that failed after 6 month's, they even told me the repair might last 5 minutes or 5 weeks, shocking service.. I returned the battery after doing 2 controlled discharges from 100% to 11v and both times i was getting about 40% of original Ahr rating but they dismissed all that believing they're quick tester (which was also saying the battery was low but significantly a pass) and even after a full on complaint with photos etc they still were not interested.. I normally do all my mechanics, the year it went to ATS was when i was poorly and physically couldnt manage..

Hey if the soot accumulation is reading 160 and you find the DPF has been drilled through. Ok so reset the dpf values and pull off the pressure pipes to it. Block the pipes going in to dpf and block the rubber piles you just disconnected going up to pressure sensor. You know the DPF wont be blocked as drilled through

As a DIYer, the more I look into this stuff, the more I realise that many mechanics simply chase DTCs rather than using their brains as you are doing by actually fault finding using the live data. I feel for that guy, suspect there are a lot of unscrupulous traders passing off dodgy cars where the faults are all cleared and then re-appear after a short while or worse like this modifications make it impossible to fix without spending £££ - same happened to me with a user car (no mods as has the service - chasing DTCs again), though I suspected something wasn't right - am now proceeding to clean the entire intake EGR and DPF (hopefully) since it's done 180k

Had a Zafira 1.9cdti that kept going into regen every time i went out . Only had it 3 weeks so changed the DPF pressure sensor , no change . Dropped the DPF off to clean it out and it had been chisseled out = no pressure = out of spec signal = constant regen.Paid a guy to come and delete it off the ECU and problem solved .

What values should both exhaust temperature sensors read. I have it reading 1.22 value on temp 1 which fluctuates and 5 value on temp 2 which stays at 5. With engine running and at full temperature. Thanks

tempted to take mine to him what would be considered to low hpa on the dpf at idle? mine sits at 10 hpa im in same situation as the owner of this car was fine for a while, its had new injectors, glow plugs and dpf pressure sensor and egr replaced, it was regening ever 13 miles at this point now every 300 miles but i still don,t know if my dpf is right or not

Needs the dpf soot level resetting to zero, (new dpf fitted option on tool) sometimes this can be still done on tuned file but not always. Basically the tuner has not reset the dpf to zero before mapping it out so the car is now locked in what it thinks is a regen, Sometimes this accompanied by white smoke. Cowboy tuning company but simple to fix. Lets just hope they have cut the internals out else the turbo will be the next thing to go without having the safety measures in place for Exhaust pressure.
