      @@theabristlebroom4378 simply look for a Hercule Poirot movie with Peter Ustinov as Poirot. Dame Maggie didn't change much in 30 some years, either, but roddy McDowel looks really fresh faced in it. also reccomended from the same era (and AUTHOR) is The Mirror Cracked with Angela Landsbury as Miss Marple right before she switched to playing expy Jessica Fletcher. you can also catch Liz Talor as the victim!

    Awesome Sketch! Kermit always makes me smile and John Inman was such a comedic talent, fun fact worked in men's wear in real life before he starred as Mister Humpries in Are You Being Served; I also heard he based Humpries 'walk' off one of his former Co Workers.

      It was our loss and the UK's gain when none of the American networks would produce The Muppet Show and they had to go overseas to do it. We could have had all these talk show and variety show appearances the British shows got while they were over there! But at least we get to see them now.

      My favourite bits on Sesame Street was when Kermit would interview fairy story characters for the news. A few ad libs over the heads of kids and aimed at parents got through.

      The muppet movie is hilarious - even today. A Frog and a Bear (driving a Studebaker)....look for the Fork in the road.....) "Movin' Right Along" and "Rainbow Connection"....can't get better than that.

    Kermit ka-poofed into a princess, I didn't see that one coming! 😂🤣 Loved it! I was genuinely saddened when Jim Henson passed away. Also when Jonh Inman left us. The Muppet Show and Are You Being Served were two of my favorite shows. Mr. Humphries, and everyone at Grace Brothers are truly missed! Rest in Peace, one and all.

      @@kathp6689 Kermit was on Sesame St BEFORE the Muppet Show. He was one of the first characters introduced on the earlier seasons of Sesame St. (and they are all "muppets" - on Sesame, Fraggle Rock and the Muppet Show - Jim Henson's creations).

    The laugh track sounds the same as the one used on the Muppet Show, I'm guessing that this was made in house to promote the launch of the 1st series.

      At the time Des' chat show was called Des O'Connor Entertains and was made by ATV, who were also making The Muppet Show. Des' later chat shows always had a genuine live audience, but I don't know if Des O'Connor Entertains did.

    1976? Where was this hiding, I thought to myself, since YT, as weird as it is, sometimes drags up old things for the recommended lists. I'm glad it did for this one, with CBT (oh, that does not appear well chosen) only active for a few months, and 1070 subscribers (23K views) but hopefully he/they will keep active.

    Inman was my mums neighbour for about 30 years in Maida Vale,West London,we used to see him in the street all the time,and he was always dressed just like this,but in a blue blazer with white polo neck instead of this brown.beige combo.

    I've never seen this interview, but knew John Inman was never on The Muppet Show as a guest (Imagine the possibilities of 70s Britcoms, Dads Army, or Carry On with the Muppets). Sure hope there's more segments like this in the archives, as I was grinning from beginning to end and gagged on my dinner at the final surprise that I shan't spoil for you!!

    It's great the things that animal experts do these days with animal training. To actually get a frog to talk is an amazing break through. We can learn so much from animals.

    random aside, but... thank you, PBS, for introducing us Yanks to the brilliance that is classic Britcoms. when i was a kid, i used to stay up late on Fridays and Saturdays, just to watch a bunch of British shows that were before my time. Are You Being Served was probably my favorite of the bunch.

    Did "top" mean back then what we know it means today? I know Polari was not as common in the 70s so did 'top' and 'bottom' take on new meaning from the waning of polari at about that time?
