I think what you all are doing is amazing God's work! Bless you for coming to their aid 🙏. I've been wondering if a crane with a huge electric magnetic, at recycling centers, could be brought in to better, faster sort the metal out of the river and piles safer way to get the propane, gas oil tanks! I just want you wonderful people to use everything possible so you stay healthy, safe because this is a long time job sadly 😥 ❤❤

It's brand new! It's a Demo model from Rudd - They let us borrow it for a week for free. Pretty neat!

As skilled as your operator is, when you return it, the only signs of it being used will be on the tracks and the bucket.

Priority is to clear up areas. What do they do with all the carts, cars, appliances, etc.? Are there recycling places available or are they temporarily mass dumped in a location in the area till they can be disposed of? So much stuff.❤

good question, we tried to put everything in a "staging area" where it could be picked up by insurance, scrappers, or whoever. Basically we just tried to make these things accessible to their owners.

They could use a campground for displaced residents until homes are restored.

Seems to me like you could start burning over next to the river bed or in the fields close by get rid of debris

🔥 🌳 🏠 I know most of the fires that are being started are surrounded by sand and dirt but it only takes a small explosion from a household item, aerosol can, gas can, or a gust of wind to blow a hot ember from one of those unmanned fires into another area that has dead fuel,(trees & lumber) and debris lying around everywhere.
A wildfire is not something they need to deal.

Yes I know that but those guys know you don’t leave a fire unmanned that’s why they usually doing other work why burning

Unfortunately there has been no measurable rain since the hurricane hit. Conditions are too dry right now to burn the debris like they did right after the storm.

I’m not trying to be a smart ass but that excavator isn’t being used to its maximum advantage. I’m not sure if the operator is inexperienced or there are other reasons. With the shear volume of material that needs moving it will take a lot more speed to make much of a dent in the cleanup. I’m a retired excavation company owner. Over 50 years in the excavation business.

Appreciate the comment, if you watched the video you can clearly see we're picking items one by one out of the debris field. Yes, he can, and knows how to hog big material when he needs to, but this was not one of those times.

It's a borrowed machine....just how radical do you want to get with a brand new borrowed machine? With your experience, maybe you could go and lend a hand.

@ I want more than just burning fuel. Machines are made to work. He’s taking 2-3 minutes to cycle light loads. It’s okay if you’re not trying to accomplish a task.

    Patent number: 462,795

He's checking the stability of the ground he wants to drive over.
If more operators did that, they wouldn't need to be pulled out of the sinkhole they had dug themselves into.

    • @Ladybug-j3p
