Thank you, Doctor Snipes for yet again another accessible and informative video which gives us hope that we can relay information about neuroscience to our clients without a master's in neuroscience! I am so grateful for your work as in just two days, your work as given me a degree of confidence in my knowledge to greatly impact the lives of the students I support with mental health challenges in my work. THANKYOU!
I'm dealing with the noisy neighbors in an apartment that like to stomp around during the night hours. It is driving me insane, my HPA axis is out of wack.
I am sorry about that and I appreciate you watching the video. Other videos you might be interested in can be found at ua-cam.com/users/DocSnipessearch?query=vagus
Absolutely amazing. I just learned about HPA AXIS so I wanted to learn about it with lead me to your video. The way you described the reactions to stimulation and the chemicals released into this feedback loop described me. I work with other veterans with severe Ptsd and see these same patterns in them. I broke the cycle years ago and now I know the science which will helps me refine my techniques. Hope to hear from you.
Excellent educator, presentation and content! I am truly APPRECIATIVE. Pleasantly, intricate detail with exceptional simplification! Just look at the Seratonin Receptors Box 37:36 - that is some serious information, and I like to know what is what with no holding back details. Best help for me is when I understand - and this material is RICH with UNDERSTANDING, thank you!
5:05 speaking about low-grade noise, there's high grade where I live too-- in the summer months, it is non-stop inner-city car racing every Friday and Sat night, so many that the cops can't stop them-not to mention the 3 drive-by SHOOTINGS at my neighbor's house. That will set your teeth on edge and contribute to your insomnia, guaranteed.
Daisy, I am so grateful for you and I am truly sorry you’ve experienced such awful and traumatic things and I appreciate you watching the video. What tips will you consider using first to start healing your HPA axis? ua-cam.com/users/DocSnipessearch?query=trauma
Hi Doctor Donna, could you do a follow up on the effect of Caffeine and exogenous substances/stimulants on the HPA axis? Thank you for all your information and expertise, you are an incredible wellspring of knowledge! ❤️
Great video! This was very helpful in learning about what HPA Axis Dysfunction was from a general place. A very thorough explanation! As a personal trainer, I wanted to know about it generally from a mind point, before diving into it from a health and fitness place, which is my main focus. Thanks for this! :)
I suffer 24/7 dpdr (dissociation) , insomnia after a major reaction to steriods i believe my hpa axis has been disregulated ever since... what treatments can i look into to heal from this.. ive tried different ssris they didnt help
51:30ish um..dosen't the liver provided enough glucose to? This ofcourse although I haven't check when a Chronically regenerating liver is being repaired the glucose production maybe? there for the lack of oxygen increases on the long term liver damage I mean glucose has 8 oxygen's a chemic it adds up regardless my original point is that the systems that you out line for early morning 3AM ish hast to do with the liver finishing the leftovers high sugar or alcohol glucose or ethanol throwing a chemical response back to the brain knocking you out of rem sleep? Uselessly it pairs with or is change in ADH Or DH ?
i went through some very traumatic personal experiences in my mid 20s and I've had chronic fatigue for the 15+ years since. I'm certain I've got an HPA issue. I sent in a home Testosterone test to Hone Health and my total Testo lvl was like 117! Hopefully that's a flawed test but the way I feel.. sounds about right. lol

Thank you for sharing your perspective. It’s true that anxiety and depression can often be natural responses to stress, as emotions serve an important role in alerting us to challenges and overwhelming situations. However, when these feelings become persistent, overwhelming, or interfere significantly with daily life, they can develop into clinical disorders. For example, clinical depression and generalized anxiety disorder involve more prolonged, intense symptoms that affect functioning and require different levels of intervention and care. It's important to distinguish between temporary emotional responses and chronic conditions. What are your thoughts on how we can better recognize the tipping point between normal stress responses and when someone might need more structured support?
@@DocSnipes Emotional disturbance exists on a continuum, which means that any attempt to draw a line where normal physiological responses transform into a ”clinical disorder” is artificial in nature. From this logically follows that demedicalizing the human psyche is the most effective means of empowering people previously labeled as suffering from nonexistent illnesses.

Next time you think somebody is stupid consider what stressors may have thrown their HPA axis off and what kind of bad advice they've been given.
Thanks for watching.
