Hey Drew! Always appreciate the technical walk-through videos. I would like to see how the telemetry is set up on the spektrum system, and perhaps a little more on the iX12 radio and how you use it for signal penetration in concrete bandos or going behind buildings. I always gets anxious when your flight videos go behind a building as I fear the signal will get dropped. I have the 6X now, but may upgrade to the 12 if it had more transmit power, or a plugin module to boost power. Great videos on all the channels. Keep up the great work.
And one more thing =) please do a seperate video just on how you setup the receiver tab. SO many people are having SO many troubles with exactly that. Oh even better, you should have Bardwell do it... =P ;D ;D
I use spectrum also. I never had any of the other types of radios. Really it because I also fly flybarless helicopters. Spectrum has nice gimbals and great range. I have never lost a signal. All the crappy video transmitters is usually my limit.
Love that new receiver! Great video! I personally leave the flight mode alone and just reassign the switch. I use that to go from Angle to idle up and then finally air mode.
Nice video! I am using DX9 so this part is not that usefull for me, but plese create advanced video regarding telemetry and RSSI setup on OSD. I am using "old" serial Race receiver and I am really curious whether it worth to upgrade to new SLX2 receiver. Please add your personal opinion about new receiver - how it is with range, stability in multipath enviroment, lost packets etc. Thanks in advance
I agree the SPM4649T video you did was great but the helpful part on upgrading the receiver by that other guy down in the description is gone. Not sure how to update the SPM4649T with out blowing them up. Dose the new mini receiver your using in this video come with that update or do you have to use that spektrum cable again so I can blow that one up. Help much appreciated

Flight modes were a thing on my old Devo 7. In hindsight I think it helped me a lot to learn on that, you know, like learning to sail on an old rusty nutshell... =P
Thanks to you for all the info! I also use a Spektrum system for a drone. For me, the SRXL2 DSMX Serial Micro receiver works only up to Betaflight version 4.3.2. For the newer ones, the receiver is not recognized. Do you know the problem? Do you have a solution? And I would like to use the Spektrum system also for Ardupilot. I mix two switches to different pulse widths to control the modes. Do you have a better solution?
Just saw your video, many thanks for that, I am using crossfire with spectrum ix14, everything seems working. But the bird is not able to spool up even is armed, try many things without success, any ideas?
I'll have to show you "Juicy Horizon" for small indoor Whoop freestyle on 1s. And I do think for some CineWhooping, Horizon has a place, but you need to turn on expert mode and a few other things or it's just not good. Don't know why Betaflight doesn't have Horizon expert mode on by default.
Hi, I have an ix12 been flying fixed wing but just ordered a couple of micro drones. I can use this radio for both correct? Whatever changes I do for the drone with betaflight will only affect the drone model I create. Correct??

Does the DX 9 set up the same way? Don't think that theres many using the balls to the wall 12 channel radios except winged planes groups. How about it Drew?
The thing I've always had with Spektrum is price. $600+ transmitter, $50 receiver (or $200+ for Crossfire to completely insure you aren't a member of "Team Failsafe"), to get what you have with a $110 QX7 and a $13 XM+. They look fantastic and all, but I've just never been able to justify the price. How is it 6 times better to account for the 6 times higher price tag?..
Well. I never used any other brand but the best Spektrum radio was DX6i. I have never had any fail safe with it up to 2km. No booster. Any 6 channel DSM2 receiver. My longest flight was for 3.9 km (actualy it could be longer but I lost video and turned RTH on). Now I use DX9 and I can not say it is the same as DX6. The longest range I ever been able to fligh with DX9 is about 2km. Common range is about 1-1.5 km.
Well I got tired of the fail-safes with my DX6 at like 100ft so I made the plunge and got a DX9 with XFIRE and the quality of the radio in your hands is just fantastic and never having to worry about falling out of the sky is just so reassuring, with XFIRE I've been out to 2 miles with it never leaving 99 LQ 👍
@@smooth_ops2942 , I've the same issue with my DX6. I flew behind a simple tree and the drone fail-safed. so frustrating. I like the 12, but think "do I really need 12 channels?" I only fly drones, so 8 or 9 would be plenty. Is XFIRE a plug-in module for the 9?
@@Zayphod_zz9pza Don't go with the 12 cause you have to deal with boot up times for the tablet and what not, Get a DX9 so you can run XFIRE at full speed instead of PPM speed which is way to slow so the IX12 and DX9 can only get the software from Spektrum to run XFIRE at full potential 👍

I am interested in the telemetry. With the new receiver did you have to use a custom betaflight hex file. Nice video.

when setting my flight mode channels switches to inhibit the trim buttons still worked. what am i doing wrong?
