Honestly, this song is a classic Interpol song and this performance is raw and you have to live that! Love when Banks drops his guitar pick and they continue on flawlessly! I hope Carlos comes back and hope they can go back to the "Turn on the Bright Lights" style of sound.
eventhough paul's drunk as fuck, i think this is one of the best the new performances ive seen on youtube especially the part at 3:50, it gives me chills everytime i'm watching this
the bass in this song is just crazy... carlos really did well in creating this one (not that anything that he does on bass is ever bad, but on this one is special, even for the carlos-d standards).
They amassed quite a big following early on, already after just releasing their first EP prior to their Debut album release... Another thing too, at the start of the 2000's, there was a bit of an explosion of rock bands, the revival of garage rock and post punk... And New York bands were sort of spearheading the whole thing (The Strokes, Yeah yeah yeahs, Interpol and many more), so naturally whenever there was a good new band coming from New York at the time, they'd receive a huge push.
@chrismc89 i felt the same exact way about Paul, and when they came down to california, i was blessed because i was walking around before the show and i stood outside by the tour bus, no one else was around there was no barricade or anything and i got to meet him, of course i was paralyzed i couldnt even ask him anything that i wanted to.. ugh until next time! lol
its not on the '15' version with other nearly finalized songs, but that version has the 'ooooh' paul does in it which sounds way better that didnt make the album release. check it out by searching 'interpol the new 15 version' seems to be a last second decision to add the extra vocals, and no, carlos didnt leave until janruary 2010, bright lights came out in 2002. Im sure you know that but the remastered 2012 album of bright lights has no changes compared to the original.
a bassline cant be better than this
is the best
I realize I am pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good place to stream newly released movies online?
@Eduardo Declan Flixportal xD
@Jamal Carlos Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it!
@Eduardo Declan you are welcome xD
They will never be the same. This is too good.
la route du rock is the best interpol performance

This song really reaches another level in the second half. Jesus.
I met the band when they played the United Palace Theatre in NYC, one of the nicest musicians i have ever met!! Genuine sweethearts!
I just got the bass' intro... I can play it all fucking day long
3:51 es tan oscuro, me encanta
eargasm
The mix it's just perfect
song makes me cry.
i have just listened to this song for the first time today as TOTBL not my fave album by interpol but this song breaks my heart when I listen to it.
Unbelieveable track, definetley up there with the best interpol tracks, love the way the mood changes, chilling!!!
there is so much energy on the ending, so awesome lol
3:33 so badass!
this song is incredible!
thanks dude, you have no idea how i love this video =) interpol is the best band in the wolrd
3:53 with the bass. So amazing
fucking art
Woah I did not see that until now. They down tune their string to play that epic break down! I totally wanna try that in my show now O _ O
This version is SO bad ass!
Paul really shreds on guitar a lot more for this show.
what a fucking awesome live ver. of this song
de las mejores canciones de interpol a mi parecer
@Zeppelinfan25 I met them walking on the street the day after their show here in Mexico. He's even a little shy.
Amazing song. So good live.
That good shit
I'm very confused, how did they play such a big show in 2001 over a year before their first album came out?

I love this song, it´s my favorite band! :D
BALLOON!!! xD

totally agree : -)
Great stuff, shame that this is rare live now :(
Sam Fogarino is so damn good
paul was shy back in the day
He's still pretty shy, compared to most frontmen in bands.
sucks that carlos D left
its sucks!!!
When did the “you’re looking all right tonight, I think we should go” lyrics get added? Was it only on the remastered album & maybe after Carlos left?

@Zeppelinfan25 damn so true. I gotta meet these guys some day
probably my most favorite song personally off turn on the bright lights, but im not liking how it was performed oh well, i still fucking love them!
What is Daniel doing during the bass intro? The kinda harmonic-sounding thingey?
@03:13 - Paul adding unscripted sounds. Drunk AF.
Actually that's how the demo sounds before the album lmao
hahahaha at 1:08-1:10, all distraught.
love this tune though.
:)
what is paul doing at 3:15 lolL!
He wasn't drunk!!! I have this DVD, And if you see the whole thing, you'll notice he's juast freaking nervous.
No he was wasted out of his kind
2:16
3:05 :)
yeah, only slightly though..
:' )
@minipizza Pretty cool huh? =D
Paul sounds like a sheep for this entire concert.
Ive said this several times. Its a bad performance. Good performance in the sense that they were drunk and still did this good.
wrong. pauls voice is kinda sus but this is incredible, especially carlos
