Hello Jake, congratulations on your work as an archer and as a popularizer of archery with your formidable channel. I am Spanish and I started shooting arrows in 1985, but I had to stop training and competing around 1990, for reasons that no longer matter... I just wanted to congratulate you and make a comment about your publications... I don't speak English and I watch your videos with the UA-cam translator, with the knowledge I already had and what I was learning I can follow your videos without any problem, but what I wanted to tell you is about your publications... as you well know, Spanish-speaking archers have been growing a lot in recent years and I am aware that most of them don't speak English either, so I have been wondering if you have considered publishing your books translated into Spanish... I imagine that it won't be easy financially, but I think you would have a very large "niche" in Spain and all of Latin America, there are many of us who would buy it since there are almost no archery publications in Spanish. Thank you for everything and a big hug.
Guys, your backyard is free! Shoot diagonal, fence to fence, in a narrow alley, high to low, into an old mattress against a wall, whatever it takes to find 20-30 yards. My archery range sucks but I get to practice a few minutes every single day because it's at home!
I am a personal fitness trainer, and this type of training is perfect for athlete training and is used for body building also.. We use micro and macro training for events too. So this info is perfect for athlete training.. but for the average beginner I would stick to pure stance and posture basics first.. build some back, shoulder muscles and improve my core and center of gravity training on a Bosu ball. This would help beginners first.. and then they could start this type of training in more advance shooting lessons. Thank you for this great video and all your other videos..
I'm doing 400 arrows a day and 1 hour of your SPT 5 days a week then 2 days off to heal. My upper body strength and stamina have probably doubled as I can now draw the 35lb bow for 1 min 13 seconds instead of 42 seconds to the start of shake and collapse. Thanks Jake, your tips do work.
Hello jake, for full time archer you said in your book, its better OFF on Monday because sunday maybe we are shooting in elimination round. Or we just can OFF on sunday?
Good Morning Jake, In your book regarding the SPT, you equate the the time spent on some exercises to number of shots. Did you/do factor in these when calculating your number of shots per day? I ask because I have been ramping up the amount of STP I have been doing to get stronger. I am trying to build up better control/form and be able to shoot my heavier bows better. After watching this video I realize that I need to set, follow, and document a periodization program. I need to cycle the work and the rest/recovery and see it on paper. Thank you
If there is no need for a peek for a longer period of time (like now because of the corona situation) do I just maintain heaviest week or just do the cycle like there was a cometition incoming?
Thanks Jake, intensity variation and recovery during training periods make complete sense. I'm looking forward to reading your book. Please offer 3XL on your gear About a month ago I downloaded a scoring app on my phone and have been using it for every shot after a short warm up.....could this be hurting my progress? It's beginning to become important to my routine and if it's bad practice I want to get rid of it before I become too focused on documenting my practice scores.
Did I understand this correctly that pro archers are doing this STP for 1 hour straight? So e.g. they draw hand hold a 50# bow for lets say 15 sec and then rest for 30 sec and then do the same thing again for 1 hour?
I really want to buy the books but it almost double the price due to shipping fee because I live outside US. I hope you have eBooks version of your books.
The preplanned number of arrows needed to be shot was enough motivation I needed, I saw how my scores changed when I implemented periodization and saw that 5-6 days after a heavy load day my scores shot up and stayed up for a bit.
Serious question. According to the training schedules in your book, on the MAX day, do all arrows need to be shot in a single session or can they be broken down into 2 or more sessions. For example, can I shoot 1/2 the arrows in the morning and the other half in the evening.
Simplistic explanation and contains some ‘incorrect’ info. By incorrect I mean when you say that load and energy mirroring each other lol the time it isn’t completely true. If it would be so then 1. Your current level of energy/endurance never changes and this is not true because with time your endurance and energy level increases. So they (load and energy level around avarage energy level you measured for developing your annual plan) not mirroring and your base level of energy also changes with time, even within the year. 2. You are not including evaluation blocks, adaptations and how to manage the plateau (professionals know that plateau is unavoidable, and you know how to adapt your plan in this case - this is extremely important). In general this video is a good into to very basics of the basics. I would recommend to anyone who involved in plans development to learn first more practicality and get more understanding in how planning works and why. There are too many useful and vital things you skipped in video. Wrong or bad periodisation plan can produce more harm than something good or positive
"I cut the fluff", "I don't beat around the bush", "I just give you the information"... Takes until 5.26 before he actually starts giving information... That's almost a third of this already long video!
"I cut through the fluff. I don't beat around the bush, I just give you the information." And then the whole 17 minute video was just an ad for your book, *just* short of enough information for anybody to actually do anything with it. You could've put up one screen with the percentages, to make it actually useful.
Producing videos takes time, sharing information takes time, developing strategies takes time, honing your skills takes time. What is your time worth? Content for free is nice, but archery is a tiny community, how can you expect this content to continue for free without generating a source of income somewhere? EVERYTHING else on my channel is free. I gave you information on how this system works but in order to get into percentages for you, which isn't the same for someone else or 100 others..... that would be irresponsible. How many days a week one can shoot, when the next tournament is, how many arrows one can shoot, how much time one has available, what distances one wants to score at, what limitations one has, ETC. All of these factors matter and to tell you "this is how you do it" when its not specific to anyone is irresponsible, dangerous and opens up chances of lawsuit because everyone and everyone's situation is unique and to assume everyone can shoot 1800 arrows a week, and has a full schedule of only archery and no other work/family responsibilities would turn off way more people. Without the knowledge of the theory on why you are doing something does not actually make a difference. Not knowing the why behind the action will leave you with doubts and questions that will ultimately lead to the failure of the training plan.

This episode is really beyond me... Hope one day I will be rich enough to have time on range every day.
same here as an amateur. I can only practice like once a week.

It‘s the superkompensation we say in Germany. 👍 I anderstand it very well.
Hell yeah jedi master jake has made book
How long did you live / train at the Olympic Training Center? Would you be willing to discuss how you financed that?
Do you have this book, "Trainnig for Archery" for kindle, or digital version? Here in Brazil for me to buy printed is extremely expensive.
"Listen to your body" they say :)
Hello jake, for full time archer you said in your book, its better OFF on Monday because sunday maybe we are shooting in elimination round. Or we just can OFF on sunday?
I took off on Monday in my own training sessions
Good Morning Jake,

Thank you
"If you do what you've done every day, your energy level will drop and not come back up..."
Sound guidance for archery, or marriage...
Life in general really. Stagnation is real and ruins all.
If there is no need for a peek for a longer period of time (like now because of the corona situation) do I just maintain heaviest week or just do the cycle like there was a cometition incoming?
How is whit the "Mentally" traning to Focus and Relax, Plus Breth Correct when Arrowing ...❤ In Competition...
Hey Jake,
Can you tell what would you do if there is a two tournaments back to back, one week after another. Thanks.
So when does jake k. Book comes out
Thanks Jake, intensity variation and recovery during training periods make complete sense. I'm looking forward to reading your book.

Hulk wants a cool "I AM Stringwalker" shirt that fits from Amazing Olympic Archer....that is Highly Respected. :)
Did I understand this correctly that pro archers are doing this STP for 1 hour straight? So e.g. they draw hand hold a 50# bow for lets say 15 sec and then rest for 30 sec and then do the same thing again for 1 hour?
Yes, I have done it with a 53# bow PLUS a stretch band for one hour. Was real fun
I really want to buy the books but it almost double the price due to shipping fee because I live outside US. I hope you have eBooks version of your books.
Working on those options!
Do you have any tips on how to motivate yourself or giving yourself the push to train harder? I have a hard time doing this.
The preplanned number of arrows needed to be shot was enough motivation I needed, I saw how my scores changed when I implemented periodization and saw that 5-6 days after a heavy load day my scores shot up and stayed up for a bit.

Yes it can be split up.
I just wonder where to put strength training in this cycle? Sunday and Thursday? Is it better in the competition season stop gym training?
I did 2-3 days a week depending on the cycle. Essentially m/w/f
Hi Jake, if we have an event on the end of the 5th week, should we you continue to shoot the 5th week the same as the 1st?
I shoot that 5th week less volume.
@@JakeKaminskiArchery thanks much.

Did you just say 5th quarter? Great info, but that made me laugh
