So I thought I'd do a video on this, as I get so many questions on it! I'm not an expert (as such) but I have been buying, enjoying & selling luxe for a profit (most of the time!!) for over 5 years now - so thought I would share my tips. Check the description for the platforms I personally sell on, and for what to avoid/be vigilent for... Finally, the key to this game is to avoid the trend/celebrity/influencer-led pieces...by all means, buy something if you love it, but if you want to make money, stick to the classics! Good luck! xx
Sophie Shohet | Fashion Beauty Lifestyle hey hun thanks for the video but you have left out classics like the neverfull, noe, totally and christian loubutin products. What are your opinions on those items
Nice Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Bonsaac Uncomplex Builder (probably on Google)? It is a smashing one off guide for find suppliers of authentic wholesale designer handbags or clothing or shoes without the hard work. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my best friend Jordan got cool results with it.
Truly, when I see other youtubers talk about luxury brands, I feel like they often are bragging. Trying to show of a certain lifestyle, whether its a haul or they go shopping, it feels unauthentic. So it is really strange, but you have never given off that feeling, and you talk about luxury brands all the time! Your honest appreciation for items, makes me trust your advice. Thank you.
Hi Sophie... I would like to know how do you know when is the right/perfect time to sell your designer goods? As we all know most of the classic pieces tends to go higher in prices every years. So should I wait or just sell it ( if only for the sake of making profits & not for emergency funds )
i have your videos in the background when i study for university. You are a huge inspiration and everything you say motivates me so much! thank you Shopie, xxx
I just bought a Chanel classic in medium with gold hardware and so glad you make these kind of videos! I hope you keep up this amazing journey! Love you girl ❤️😍🤗
noura xo it is a bit heavy but not too much because the size I got is medium I think if it's a bigger bag then it would probably have been really Heavy! I'm excited for you and good luck with everything :)
hi Sophie, what about the iridescent purple Chanel ? i remember you said you got it for investment , did you sell it or still waiting for the price to increase ? thanx for another great video :)
Great info but I couldn't disagree more on your point about receipts on eBay. People are just as likely to toss as keep a receipt, and a piece of paper is MUCH easier to fake than a bag. More reliable to use a third party authentication service.
+photoshopdiva That's interesting! I'm of a different opinion, that if I'm spending a large amount, I keep the receipts (for insurance reasons for one). So personally, unless an item is vintage, I'm dubious when there's no paperwork. My personal opinion of course!xx
Hi Sophie, In your opinion, is there a difference between a trendy bag and a limited edition bag in resale value or a simply beautiful seasonal bag? I bought a Chanel bag almost two years ago because when I saw it I thought it was a the most beautiful Chanel I've ever seen. The color is sparkly gold but it is not leather. So do pretty but seasonal bags fair better in the resale market than others that have a very bright color or frilly weird fabric for example? Don't you think that some people might look for some unique pieces from a luxury brand? I hope I never have to sell my bag, and I enjoy wearing it, but I've seen a few opinions online that trendy bags don't hold their value. I started to wonder if I should resist the temptation the next time I see a non classic luxury bag. What do you think?
I always giggle about how when I was 18 I OBSESSED over the Chloé Paddington, and I look back now and it makes me sad, it is SO ugly and how would that resell!? 😂
So far the few luxe items I have (LV) are for enjoyment/everyday use. They are in damier ebene and have been around for long, so God forbid I need money back I could resell. I would really like to get into the buying for resale only situation but it scares me to screw up and lose money. Like you said, doing the homework on the item is super important. I also would add, liking the item. If for some reason you can't resell it, at least it's of your liking. Motivating video Sophie!
I love your videos!! And I love your advice, but I still want the Gucci Yellow Marmont Mini Matelasse Crossbody, it goes against all logic! But I am using your advice on how to save up for it, currently putting all my £2 coins in a jar! Hardly noticing and have over £100 saved already :) xx
Thats so true, Not all Luxury items are a great investment, let me tell you one thing please, Luxury Hair is a Good investment for sure. Because of its quality, if you keep it in safe place, it will never go below its price. You still may enoy it wearing, but not destroying it with chemicals, anyways its price never goes below what you paid for it. ***For Audience in here, We have been collecting luxury hair ponytails from healthy females since 2008, just in case if anyone is wanting to invest on luxury hair ponytails or to resell a luxury hair products.
What do you think of the gucci marmont and the LV pochette metis? I know gucci was fluctuating in terms of being in and out of fashion, however lately they're everywhere.. and the pochette metis is very hyped for the last few years.. do you think they're good investment?
hey sophie are you planning on getting a birkin? found out this morning they are a better investment than gold and consistantly go up 4 to 14.5% a year! im contemplating to buy just to look at and keep as an investment:p thoughts?
Hi Shopie I have the exact same pair of espridrills and I have to say without doubt they are the best pair of shoes I have bought ever , I have got caught in the rain so many time and when they dryed they were perfect I couldn't believe it , since then I have been caught in the rain and I have to say they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn , sometimes I have forgotten I have them on and taken the bins out 😳 I would highly recommend them if anyone is on the fence about them as they were worth every penny . Great vid thank you 😊
Hey Sophie :) Do you think the Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis is a good investment piece?? Or do you think it will go out of style in the near future? Love your channel
Sophie do you know when dior does sales? I want to buy the DIOR TRIBALE EARRINGS. But its floral earrings. I don't want to pay £410 but then see a price drop i want to buy it before my holiday in March.
+Asees Hera Yes, its on now in London and there are Tribale items in it, but I didn't see any of the classic pearl styles, only bright colours like red, blue, yellow etc. Worth having a look! X
I noticed the "Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag" on the cover photo of this video. Do you consider that a bad purchase? Also, the neverfull MM , do u consider that an iconic purchase?
hey sophia i hope u answer this. i sadly bought trendy designer bags and now i regret it so much. im torn between a chanel medium classic flapbag in black or lady dior in baby pink? what do u think?
Hi Sophie, I just bought an LV Speedy 30 last year 2018. I plan to sell it after some years but recently I ruined one of the leather handles with my jewelry so, it now has a lot of scratches. Do you think it will still be sellable? 😕
Great points all around, but if you want to make real money with luxury items you have to know the price of as many items as you can. Knowing that the Speedy or Birkin will hold its value is nice, but everyone knows this... i.e. you will have tons of people bidding on these items. I have recently bought a limited edition Diorama. Most people payed it no mind, because there was a limited edition Lady Dior in that same auction and everyone was bidding on it. This is just one example, but it applies to any situation.
I love this video Sophie. I do have to agree with you about reselling certain items and not getting very much money back. I've sold Saint Lauren pumps that were in great condition and I think I only got $100 US and I've sold Prada shoes and got less than $100 US. I currently have my LV Speedy 30 listed and I do have the receipt for it. When I was trying to decided how to price it, I had a really hard time. I checked other prices and they were all over the place. I finally decided to list it for $800 US and I think that is a bit high for it but I just couldn't get a good read on what was a good price. I have been offered $550 and $650 for it but I would like to get at least $700 if possible. I also have the box, the shopping bag, the lock, & the key. The only think I don't have is the cord that was tied around the box. There is one brand that isn't luxury that sells pretty well for me and that is Michael Kors. I use to love the brand but I've gotten really tired of it and have sold or in the process of selling everything I have from the brand. The MK handbags sell the best, then the watches, and finally the shoes. The clothing is the hardest to sell and sometimes I just end up donating it.
Great vid Sophie... and I sooo love the Chanel sling backs! I missed out on them last season (I'm still kicking myself) I'm hoping they make a comeback so I can grab a pair this time. Xx💖✨
+Lucy Crea They are in the boutiques now Lucy, and they come in some beautiful colour options! Black with silver toe cap possibly my fave! ❤ Good luck, hope you get your pair! Xxx

Hi Sophie, am interested in selling preloved bags as a side hustle, how can I start as a beginner? How much capital can I start with and where can I source for bags that sells fast?
Hey Theodora! I can’t really offer lots of advice on this. I only sell my used bags occasionally when I’m not finding myself reaching for them. I think if you’re thinking about reselling as a business, it might be worth seeing if there’s anyone on YT who does it and can offer advice xx
Great tips! I work for a luxury consignment company and all of these tips are spot on in my experience! One question though, I do understand some pieces holding their value better than others, but as a buyer, why would someone pay $1000 for a bag that is the store for $1100? Especially if it's not a rare or limited piece. Best example is the Neverfull, they retail around $1300 or so in the US depending on size and a lot of resale sites will have them for $1100-1200. I'm the QUEEN of designer resale, and generally I like to spend either $1000 less than retail for certain brands (i.e. Chanel) or at least 40% off. Curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks for sharing 💕
+KWShops It's a good point! I'm talking really about leaving a longer gap between purchase and sale. So for example, you buy something at $1k, some time later the retail price has risen to (for example) $1.5k... if the condition is good etc, you should at the very least get your $1k back, if not more. That's how I tend to work anyway! I find Chanel sells best, I think because there is 'some' misunderstanding about how much things actually cost in-store, so an often inflated price can successfully sell. It's all fun anyway! Glad to hear you're into this too! Do you find LV trails behind Chanel/Hermes etc? Xx
Yes that's a very different point to make. However the numbers have make sense for the buyer. Any person that has $5000 to spend on a handbag can buy anything they want. And they probably would be willing to spend the extra $500 or so to buy new. (Unless of course it's a rare or limited piece) Also, in my experience LV is at such a different price point than Chanel and Hermes. You can buy something great at LV for $2000 and the other 2 don't really have a great deal of options like that. LVs saving grace though is that they don't do sales.
I am seing people selling pre-loved bags and I keep trying to find how they source those bags and I can’t seem to find how? Would you happen to know how to do that Sophie ? Thank you :)
Great video. :) The LV Alma BB retails in India for about INR 1,00,000/- (about 1000 pounds) if not more. Wonder how you got it for 650 pounds. Is LV cheaper in the UK? Also, I think you were referring to LV Speedy 30, because it's such a classic. I have 2 Speedy bags- one mono canvas and azur and they are perfect for all occasions.
wisam rohilina there are occasional calf releases; I have one (although you're correct the standards are lamb and patent; I have a lamb too and find that it's much more hard wearing than Chanel lamb.)
I didn't know that, because when I purchased mine I only saw the lamb and patent leather.. ended up with the patent, but I agree that their lamb skin is more hardwearing than that of chanel.. thanx for the info
This video is so informative! As do all of your videos! I actually find the Chanel espadrilles really comfortable after breaking them in. Now I wear mine all the time, and the soles are quite soft. But I will never sell them. :)
+Cherrylimeade0235 I don't mind doing that, it can be fun! I'm not the sort of person to have everything matching - I like variety and colour 😊 How about you? Do you like to mix things up, or keep to one brand? Xx
I just wanted a few designer pieces, but I'm not ready to make the $2,000 purchase, but I am looking at Alexander Mcqueen and Dior card holders as a smaller purchase.
Sophie Shohet | Fashion Beauty Lifestyle Since you have dior earrings do u think the price will go up or down ? Id like to buy them but I don't then want to feel bad since the price goes down in a few months . Or wait to long where the price goes over high
@@aseeshera5998 super late to this... but earrings usually are not good investment pieces. Just think - how comfortable are you with wearing used earrings? If you're not comfortable with it, chances are, that second hand item also will not do well in the market.
@@cherrytung Yeah your right. I think you only do well in getting money back if invest in dior, Channel etc . That to has to be bags. I bought a givenchy bow cut bag from vestaire collective. As a trend which was bad choice I bought it for £550 and only got £270 . Keeping in mind it wasn't used. Did have damage/scratch/colour transfer. I even had the bloody vestaire collective tags on them .
Hi! Im from Sweden and are going to UK this summer. Could you write the stores that or outlet that have reduced price on givenchy and Balenciaga. Thanks :)
Nice video! I have to disagree in regards to the Alma BB as I dont think it holds value as I bought it and decided to sell 2 months later, I lost 350 pounds.
Hey Sophie, you mentioned Balenciaga going on sales. Inwas under the impression that their bags never go on sales. Have you seen baleciaga bags on sale and where?
Hi Sophie, thanks you so much for the useful information. What do you think of the Gucci Dionsysus bag? I been finding myself lusting over it but I have to admit after watching your old videos I now think, is it worth the investment?! specially for most of us that can't afford lots of lux goods! seems like Gucci is more of a trend at the moment! PLEASE DO a VBLOG on this!

thanks for helpful tips, I'd like to hear something about the headscarf. Always listen to your advice when I want something I buy branded
Is there anywhere you would recommend for buying second hand luxury goods? It's so hard to know you're buying a genuine article.
I was wondering as most people put their initial on their LV bag, doesn't make this more hard to sell it? isn't it better to not do this?
Great advice! Thanks for sharing! Always looking forward to your next video! Yay! 😀
Love, love, love😍Such a good video as always!! Xx
What ever happened to that Chanel Cruise collection Iridescent boy bag? I was hoping to see it appear in this video. 😌
I believe the lady dior comes in patent leather and lamb skin not calf.. enjoyed your video, always looking forward to your luxury videos..
wisam rohilina there are occasional calf releases; I have one (although you're correct the standards are lamb and patent; I have a lamb too and find that it's much more hard wearing than Chanel lamb.)
I didn't know that, because when I purchased mine I only saw the lamb and patent leather.. ended up with the patent, but I agree that their lamb skin is more hardwearing than that of chanel.. thanx for the info
wisam rohilina you're welcome! Keep an eye out for a calf release they are divine!
I agree with u about the classics. ❤👍🏻 Thanks for sharing ur knowledge love! 😘😘😘Sandy
Speedy 30 is the size you're thinking of. Great video and I love your haircut!
Where do you sell your designer handbags please?
I simply adore you! Thank you for being so honest and down to earth :)
This video is so informative! As do all of your videos! I actually find the Chanel espadrilles really comfortable after breaking them in. Now I wear mine all the time, and the soles are quite soft. But I will never sell them. :)
Why do you still have a car and a bag on your wish board? Love your look, by the way ❤
Random question, how do you feel about mixing designers? Do you wear your dior card holder inside of your dior only?
+Cherrylimeade0235
I don't mind doing that, it can be fun! I'm not the sort of person to have everything matching - I like variety and colour 😊
How about you? Do you like to mix things up, or keep to one brand? Xx
I just wanted a few designer pieces, but I'm not ready to make the $2,000 purchase, but I am looking at Alexander Mcqueen and Dior card holders as a smaller purchase.
Another great video Sophie. Love your style and advise.
Love your videos, Sophie, and your sparkly personality! Hope to meet you for a glass of prosecco some day X
Thank you for this...I enjoyed
i think prada bags are good investments too and never out of style :) what do you think?
You have worn that jacket so how do u still have tags?
Asees Hera maybe she only worn it for videos?
+Asees Hera Hey sweetie! I've only worn it in a video so far, waiting for it to warm-up a bit! Xx
Love you, proud member of your Chanel soph❤️xxxx
Channel* how ironic for a luxury Channel😂❤️❤️
I've always loved the idea of doing this, just because I love luxe bags so much. Thank you for all the tips!
I love your editing on this! Off topic but true hahah
Hi! Im from Sweden and are going to UK this summer. Could you write the stores that or outlet that have reduced price on givenchy and Balenciaga. Thanks :)
Love hearing your view on this its so helpful! I think your right when it comes to chanel you cannot go wrong they always sell very well :)
Been waiting all day yay!
I would agree with the sale comment. Gucci is on sold at our local outlet TKMaxx - always surprises me because its a huge slash in price.
Laura Nadel I saw some Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent and Fendi on TKMaxx as well!
what is ur opinion of the LV Nice BB?
some well done research and quality content of my city, and in the same time some how feeling bit shame of the what been happening.
How would I know when the company price increases?
Hi Sophie, Can you do a review on crossbody bags for everyday uses.
Wow thank you....so informative
Excellent video Sophie💕
great tips! thanks for sharing, Sophie ❤️❤️
Will anything actually sell for more than you pay?
What is you input on Valentino?
Sophieeeeeeee love this video 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
love this video beautiful, thank you for the tips xx
I've had my eye on that Balmain jacket for a while
Angie L - I have seen Balenciaga handbags in Saks Off Fifth (outlet) here in US, as recently as last week.
Thank you Erin!
Angie L I bought mine on an awesome sale on Reebonz....they're often on sale there. Reebonz is amazing!
Thanks!
