      Oddly enough, I recall having made a comment on the first part about, if any of the party was Lawful Good, they wouldn't have treated Little Wallace as bad. I can't help but think that comment helped to affect this video in some way.
      Also, reminds me of a video made by Taking20 about how "Alignments are Dead," which I feel this Lawful Good hatred towards Little Wallace helps to demonstrate that a small bit.

      @1Maklak 5 років тому +44

      Hell no. Fetch quests are tedious, but simple. On an escort quest you have to match your speed to the NPC and save them from their own stupidity multiple times, because every time there is a random encounter, said low level NPC will just charge anything including a dragon with suicidal bravery. You often have to reload or restart the quest multiple times. It's just less painful to cast a gate spell and save yourself the trouble. In some games it is also viable to get a bunch of escort quests and escort them to a dungeon where they'll die and sell their stuff for profit.

      The villain was actually a victim of Wallace who suffered the same fate. A simple farm hand who discovered an old relic buried deep in the woods outside of town he needed help from a close friend, Wallace, the carpenter. The two slaves away at uncovering this relic only for the villain to fall ill, leaving Wallace to turn the relic in. Wallace was thanked and praised for the discovery, the relic attracted tourists and investors that saved the town from falling into poverty. Ever since that day, the villain tried to end Wallace for stealing all of his glory. Wallace, Chaotic Stupid, true villain of Parnast.

On the way the GM was describing the terrain, "The sand flows as far as the eye can see, without careful navigation all direction would be meaningless, you see a giant turtle lying in the wastes-" I interupt the GM, "How far away the giant turtle?" "Not close enough to harm you, a little over 100 feet away." "I manifest psionic dominate."

    The party should look on the bright side of that ending. Wallace is believed to be a hero of the town, a highly skilled individual and can get stuff done. So...when the town sends him off to go and deal with another village problem, he will be HORRIBLY and BRUTALLY killed by whatever the problem is. So he might lose some credit for the accomplishments that he never said to anyone, "Hey, I didn't do anything, they did." That should make him look even less like a hero in the long run....and then he will be killed. Win/Win!

It just struck him in the head and killed him! What are the odds!? This is even funnier if you get telekinesis and could just make a weapon rack from an armory fall on someone you don't like. Gave him all the tropes Power Rangers Poses, long winded speech of Justice, talking over the party of villians, ya know the usual. Jack Blackthorn you really wouldn't like it. My players seem to shift between Champions of Justice Lawful Good to Epitome of Death and Destruction Chaotic Evil at the drop of a hat.
      So far their exploits involve saving a town from rampaging Ogres and taking no reward for the deed from thankful peasants, Burning an entire city to the dirt murdering thousands, Saving a Cursed Temple from a Vampire Lord and slaying him, Tricking a small orphan into triggering a rune trap so they could get into a vault (killing him), slaying a band of Assassins, Holding a Merchant at knife point and robbing him blind....you get the idea....

    • @luckyowl1681
      @luckyowl1681 5 років тому +48

      Hm... Funny. I get the feeling I wouln't like the flip-flop of paragon and murder-hobo either.
      I like Paladins, yet hardly play one nowadays. It's also funny looking and comparing them mechanics-wise and realizing both Pathfinder and 5e Paladins are FAR superior to my favorite edition's (AD&D 2e) Paladins... I'd rather take the modern Lay on Hands than "2 HP per level ONCE per day". Sheesh.
      Closest thing I'll be making in coming days will be my first Fighter... a Lizardfolk that, looking at some things, takes a bit from "bandit" encounters in terms of his weapon layout. So, given I want the cold-blooded fellow to be Lawful Good, I have this silly image in my head. Cultural differences.
      Take, for example, if Little Wallace COULD die as opposed to being a vital railroaded story-based NPC. My lizardfolk fighter would be... respectful of his remains... in that he sees no point in burying the body when he could COOK AND EAT IT, so while he never got to live his dreams of adventure in life, a part of Wallace's spirit will be carried on through the lizard's heart and soul... and bowels.
      Said Lizardfolk Folk Hero will fully expect the party to do the same to him and will be offended from the afterlife if he's just buried in the ground or cremated... or offended in the present day if he gets resurrected. Because "Lawful Good" by his culture. XD
      Thoughts? I apologize for the ramble, I'm just giving an example. For the story itself, as the party is portrayed they seem like jerks and whiners, but I get the impression that it's more of an exaggeration, judging from another commentator being from the group and telling how Puffin is a good DM seeming to not give himself enough credit in these.

    You know, that actually gives me a great (terrible) idea for an interesting (trolly as f*) campaign where the party has to work extra hard to prevent the villain (not a villain) from taking credit for their actions. Make the villain (random npc) strong and very lucky with high charisma and social status so they can't just kill him, then have him show up after a random number of days since giving the players each quest. Should they act quickly or think ahead, they get the reward. If the dawdle or fall for some traps, they will find the villain (good character) has already defeated the boss and claimed the reward. Just enough to add some risk without just adding more enemies, and maybe some entertaining aggravation.

    One time during a campaign, my party and I are discussing our findings with a halfling at the tavern about a temple of the God of sun and the halfling was keeping secrets (I rolled to determine his motivation) and the dm told me that the halfling was indeed hiding something. I notified my party and then our ranger comes in and just stats beating the crap out of him and yelling at him in the middle of the tavern. Some of the patrons left the bar in a hurry and the interrogation continued. But I pointed out that committing assault in a town was a great way to end up in jail. So everyone reaches the same conclusion that we have to get out of there. So we tie up the halfling and just up and run out of town only to learn that the town had no guards and beat downs in the bar were actually very frequent. But we didn't learn this for a long time. So we keep the halfling prisoner tied up in the bag of holding and we snuck back into town needlessly to complete our objective. We found the map to the temple and it was a 2 week journey away by carriage. We walked. So we adjourn the adventure there and when we came back the following week to play again we reach a large city and head to the guard tower to search for local bounties and quests. Our dm tells us that a foul odor has been following us. We go to the church to be blessed by the priest as we believed we were getting followed by demons. The odor did not leave. So we completed a bounty. Threw the body of the bounty into the bag of holding and returned to the guard tower. We dumped out the contents of the bag only for the halfling's rotting corpse to come flopping to the ground. Needless to say, the guard wasn't happy. He attempted to arrest us, We didn't get paid for the bounty and a bounty was placed on our heads. By the time we reach the next city, we were in disguise only for our previous bounty to come falling out of the bag as well. Same thing happened. We came to the conclusion that the bag of holding is a bad place to store bodies.

    Lemme go down my lists of responses....
    Gogran (Beardless Dwarf Barbarian): Probably honestly respects kid for surviving as much abuse as he does and acknowledge he deserves some praise. Probably wouldn't like him, especially not with that voice, but would probably not hate him as much as this party would.
    Siggy Sixfold (Evil Space Pirate, not for D&D, but...similar scenarios can occur in his setting): Probably finds kid utterly hilarious and, while he intentionally would risk the kids life at the drop of a hat for a joke, would probably also not find him worth hating. Then again, Siggy only really hates like....two guys total in character? Everyone else is just either boring or a GREAT joke.
    Mr. Nonesuch (Shadowrunner 'faceless' Face [Went out of her way to make it so people would remember as few things about herself as possible, while also making it so people would misinterpret her appearance as MUCH as possible, my only female character and it's a crossdresser who goes by a name with the words "Mr" in it.]): "Hey look, someone I can use to take both the blame and the acclaim, and not have -anybody- remember I was here while I rob the idiot who sent me on this task BLIND." Nonesuch's response to any NPC the party doesn't instantly love. Nonesuch is kinda borderline sociopath though so he's not a great judge.
    Gil (Human Invoker): OH FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY WILL YOU ALL SHUT UP. I HAVE HEARD ENOUGH, SHUT UP, SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP. (Gil was a divine ham radio, given everyone auto-loves the Hero of Parnast, except for the most -vile- of villains, presumably he'd find the presence of the Hero a bit akin to putting a police siren next to his ear and then cranking it on. Designed for comic relief / to help GM give party some LIGHT railroading.)
    Verbal (Imperial Psyker Telekine): "...I'm hallucinating this right? No? Are you sure? Are you sure you're not a hallucination?" Verbal was 100% beyond the shadow of a doubt convinced that the entire universe outside of his eyes was an illusion, and most of the stuff -behind- his eyes was an illusion. He was remarkably easy to keep under control, never going for anything that looked 'spooky' or seemed in any way 'strange' because he simply...didn't believe it existed, only responding to it if someone actually prompted him to poke it in some manner. Surprisingly most of his best moments happened as a support cast member, doing things like walking out of very dangerous surrounded situations casually (Unstealthily)
    So, of my characters I can think of, only one would honestly hate the Hero of Parnast, and that one auto-hates basically any 'chosen by the gods.'

    I do wonder what if the villain of this adventure was another adventurer who, much like the PCs, was robbed of his deserved glory, which Wallace got instead.
    Something like this: the future villain comes to Parnast as an adventurer to help the place. He hears that he should take a local hero (Wallace) with him as support, since he has already saved the place from certain doom with the support of other heroes in the past. The future villain can't know any better and takes Wallace with him, only to have the same experience as the adventurer group before.
    Perhaps the future villain was even part of an adventuring party and Wallace's absolute incompetence cost his comrades their lives. Only for Wallace to end up as the hero of Parnast again, although in the end he didn't contribute anything.

    and this is the reason why the party broke the villain out of jail, burnt down the whole town of Parnast, and slowly tortured Wallis family and forced Wallis to watch and then after they died from pain and shock they tortures Wallis as well. then they left town and become legendary heroes. the end! ( the memory the the town Parnast was wiped from everyones memories besides the villain's and parties using a true wish that the all prayed for and miraculously got.)

    • @lykillcorreli6740
      @lykillcorreli6740 5 років тому +1

      Better yet, just wish for Wallace (that particular Wallace, mind you, you don't want to erase everyone named Wallace) to have never existed but for your party to remain unaffected by the cosmic retcon.
      You'll have to be very specific though, because loopholes will screw you over. The Retcon wish changing the town's name rather than erasing Wallace himself, for example, to make "Wallace, The Hero of Parnast" have never existed... Wallace now being The Hero of [The town's new name] and still having sucked up all the credit for your jobs well done.

    To the tune of "The Hero of Canton" from Firefly:
    Wallace, the boy they call Wallace,
    He went in the woods and he hunted the stag.
    He fought off the treant and the faerie hag.
    That boy is adored by all the populace,
    The hero of Parnast, the boy they call Wallace.
    He captured the villain who wanted to frame him.
    He wrestled a bear and he managed to tame him.
    That boy is adored by all the populace,
    The hero of Parnast, the boy they call Wallace.

  • @TheMystogrigen

    I would burn a wish spell on Wallace. "I wish a 300' tall statue of the Raven Queen that costs exactly 25,000GP tilting at a 45 degree angle one hundred feet to the right of Wallace."
    Now hear me out. I would have went with Bahamut, but he most likely would take exception to using his likeness to commit murder. I mean Justice. The Raven Queen though? Wallace was immortal. That's trampling all over her domain. That's doing her a favor.
    And if I can never cast wish again? Doesn't matter, it was worth it.

    • @lykillcorreli6740
      @lykillcorreli6740 5 років тому +4

      though, to be honest, it's Wallace we're talking about. *Something* will happen to save... ah, there's a problem. You specified that the statue is tilted at a 45* angle, but you never specified what direction it was tilting in. Thus, the DM can just have it fall in the wrong direction and Wallace will escape perfectly unscathed. 'Twas a good try, though.

    • @TheMystogrigen
      @TheMystogrigen 5 років тому +3

      I swear to god, I will call up my Lawyer and engineer friend at 2am on a work night to get a bulletproof wish to kill an imaginary person in a game.
      It would work in my group though. If anyone DMing in my group pulled that off on a technicality like that, everyone else would rule lawyer the crap out of him for the rest of the campaign (or session, whenever it stops being funny or we forget).

      How about, "I wish Wallace Would die instantly?"

    • @lykillcorreli6740
      @lykillcorreli6740 5 років тому

      Second Path, you'll just end up with some random guy named Wallace dying instantly, and the chances of that one random Wallace being the Wallace you want dead are slim to none. That said, though, you could probably get away with wishing "The nearest male human named Wallace, [direction*] of me at the time of this statement and bound with rope that belongs to me/[party member's name]**, dies the instant i say so.***"
      *North, east, south, or west, for precision purposes. In front of, behind, to the left, or to the right are likely to get loophole'd
      **Not entirely necessary, but once again, for precision purposes. How many other male humans named Wallace are currently north of you AND bound with ropes that belong to either yourself or one of your party members?
      ***This does leave room for interpretation, but either interpretation works just fine. It could be "dies when i tell him to die", which is simple enough, or it could be "dies when i say the word 'so'", which is also quite easy to figure out (if it's not one, it's the other)

    • @funnyblog100
      @funnyblog100 5 років тому

      I would not even go that far. I would just use catapult to make something hit him and blame it on a wagon striking a pebble on the side of the road which hit poor Wallace in the head and killed him or I could just take him to an armory under the guise of getting him some better gear and just use telekinesis to make a weapon rack fall on him. Seriously those are both plausible accidents. Since I usually play a sorcerer I would naturally have high charisma as well.
