Torqueing and testing groups works. I always check the V block screws that attach the barrel to receiver. I'll set the wrench to 25 in/lb. If the screws move and it clicks at 25, I'm good. If the screws don't move, I loosen them, and Torque them to 25 in/lbs. Then I go to the range to play with the action screw adjustments. I start at 10 in/lb, and shoot 5 shot groups in 5 inch pound increments until the group is tightest with whatever ammo I'm using. My 10/22's like 25 or 30 inch pounds depending on ammo. I think max Torque on the V block is 28 inch pounds. Be careful to not strip the threads on your guns receiver. Sure, you can use thread inserts for repair, but I'd avoid that if I can.
Action screw torque depends on the stock itself, if it’s pillar bedded, wood or synthetic ect. The soft birch wood stocks like it 15#, polymer looks like 25#, interesting, and it could be ammo specific, always learning thanks to guys like you👍
Yeah wood and synthetic are totally different characters, that's one reason why I'm starting out with 22LR and then moving up to centerfire and repeat tests.
Same with the target bbl. Purchased years back in used condition. The action bolt was lose upon first inspection. I mean to say it jiggled. The shop had taken it as trade but not even looked at it. Drawn to 20fp/t it will strike like a tac driver. I like CCI best 40grn. I started with a Remington Nylon 66 and shot the bbl out of it once.
Howdy, Brother! Based on your video, I decided to set it to 20 inch pounds. Next week, if you're interested, I'll let you know how it goes. Thank for sharing and Drive-On, Cowboy!! 🤠

Appreciate the insight, I am planning to do the same test on my next range day. I hadn’t thought about comparing multiple ammo brands.

Dope card is getting thick.
you should try norma tac-22 ammo as well. getting half inch groups with it out of my 10 22 and savage 22 bolt action at 50 yards
