They're not playing badly, they're playing blind. If they get the enemy AI memorize, and the player adapt to anything, anyone can do it too with hard work. In my case, I'll still suck at this.
@@sainttan It wasn't because they were first timers exploring and missing a few stuff. It was purely their actions. One thing nearly all of them do that I hate is leave doors open with zombies on the other side or attacking every zombie they see before they've scouted out an area ahead so they panic when 2 or 3 come outta nowhere and kill them. The game itself has hints saying sometimes it's better to just sneak pass.
You deserve way more views, I've seen people play this game that have hundreds of thousands of views and they absolutely suck at the game. Keep doing your thing

The hiding at the stairs and ladders is a weird mechanic, especially with the seethrough ones. Really amazing run. It's probably how the game is meant to be played, and this kinda reminded me of open world driving games, when you get the urge to play it with proper traffic rules.
I'm not really sure what "pre-alpha demo" really means, but that's the phrase the developers use for the current state of the game. I can only surmise they hope to achieve at least two iterations of monumental development between now and release day. There's a ton of little things that add up, but the game was still fun to play. The biggest complaint people have about the game: is the game's fragile weapons, such as crumbly crowbars and flimsy fire axes -- I would be one of them, as I dislike durability systems in general. Personally, the stealth mechanic is shown here to be work-able, but it feels far better and more reasonable to kill the zombie instead. It would be cool if this Perfect Run started players playing a more stealth-oriented mindset; maybe this really is the way we're expected to play! Since unreliable weapons is an intentional facet of the game, I assume at least one build will feature more weapons in searchable containers and easier ways to craft them. My biggest concern with the game's vision system is that all doorways are permanently opaque, so you'd have no idea there's anyone near a wall or not. You can see this a little bit before I enter the locker room of the fire department (34:30). 2D objects blocking your perspective was a gimmick that was played for minor comedic effect way back in Space Quest, but really has no place here. While I anticipate developers might not readily adjust durability, I can very much see them fixing this vision problem. The zombies can also typically see at a greater range than the player can, which you can see happen in the police station at the end (1:00:00). That zombie is always there and standing stock still to stare at the locked door. One of my first attempts ended because my character hid on the second marker, which is the wrong side of the counter; and you _still_ can't even see the zombie from there. That's actually why I hesitated in the prior room and decided to re-open the left door to the stairwell, in case I got caught by him. I remember trying Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and following traffic laws. 🤓

Beta is feature complete and in polish phase, RC is release candidate that is pushed in the store slot in a releasable state but may get a couple patches before actual release (this is mostly to not lose the store slots and having to pay a hefty fee for another), Gold is 1.0. So pre-alpha is basically nonsense, and the game is certainly over the alpha stage even just by the looks. Yeah, vision system especially in a game like this needs to be adjusted. Completely agree. Durability system is the bane of my existence. Not even a crowbar from temu should break in 5 hits.

I think this pre-alpha Daphne and Penny are the ultimate survivors. I've been trying to script a "tips and tricks" video, and want to make sure I can explain clearly why they are great and probably imbalanced enough that the survivors are fated to see balance adjustments in the future. They're the best survivors, no question. Daphne is excellent for base management with Penny being a strong anomaly in scavenging. I don't know if Sneaky will pay dividends in the full game, as the developers probably want any character to be able to accomplish certain tasks, but it does at least make going through zones faster.
plot twist: Penny's backstory of violent tendencies and intrusive thoughts were from her past life as a guerilla assassin 🔫 or a seriel killer in the making 🔪
I'll take that as a good thing! I also want to call it a speedrun, but there are some stealth segments where I have to wait for zombies to get out of my way; when it's faster to eat a hit or to kill the zombie with one of my many weapons. I wasn't sure people would feel I was misusing the term.

Your guide is really good. I already tried a lot of times but I cant explore all areas and get all survivors within 7 days. Not to mention, not getting a single hit from zombies with good strategy play. Respect and like your video bro 👍

Curious if you take notes or if is all from memory for each zombie situation as far as how they move. It seems you have the timing perfected. Thank you for all your work. Im a 3rd shift maintenance guy and I watched this while listening to presses bang away lol.
I took notes then committed them to memory. This is why I do something like running past the last kitchen zombie in the Fire Station to take a single fastener, since there are seventeen total. Well, fasteners stack in groups of four, so if I bring home 16, that's four whole stacks and nothing is wasted.
This game has a lot of potentials. I hope there is more zombie types and different game modes. I wish you have to defend your shelter from a horde of zombies lol or upgrade it with fences.
I'm personally not a fan of zombie types or running zombies, but Our Darkest Days is a branch of their main mobile game, Into the Dead; to my knowledge, that game has different zombie types, so we can expect to see new ones in the future.

38:25 roof zombie got bamboozled 🤣 best one so far because weapons conservation via stealth missions is the way to go tbh. A lot of others didn’t channel their solid snake
The game is misleading in that sneak attack kills are good to watch and hear, so you think this is a game where you put down any zombie slowing you down. Maybe that _is_ the eventual intention, but the surprisingly fragile weapons hinder that as a goal. I can play it either way, but I'd rather it be the action-y one!
Makeshift Axe & Makeshift Machete are available. Also the Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Hunting Rifle are unlocked, but the requisite components not in the game yet.
While I'm personally not a fan of the endless zombie games pouring out ever since Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, this one was certainly an enjoyable game.
The earlier scenes, you were like a ninja, stealth killing this idiots. Saving all available Player Characters, securing resources and managing resources. The later part, is show casing your duking skills and limitation of enemy AI, while conserving weapons and resources.
Unfortunately, you have to kill all zombies in a shelter in order to move forward with the game. I've tried letting them all out the door, but it doesn't count. My pacifism was fueled by my aversion to the weapon durability system.
I hope to get the chance, too! The wife took a peek at my analytics this morning and was proud of the reception for this video, so I'm sure she'll support that when the game comes out.
It took a bit of practice to get right. If you move too quickly or the zombie is too close to the window, he doesn't have time to see you and try to chase. It's completely unnecessary, but I really liked showcasing it!

They still have good morale! It's just that the positive bonus (buff) called "Hope" disappears after five turns when I completed "Strange Markings" hinting at help from the sewers. I gain it again once I complete a second plan of evacuation, Remain Calm, in the Walton Taxi Depot. Executing the plans themselves is not available in the demo, but collecting the puzzle pieces is. The Hope status increases morale for every one of the five phases it is in effect. It's like the inverse of "Gnawing Hunger" for food which reduces your morale for every turn it isn't raised above a certain threshold.

Hi there,this was a perfect run! But I have a question: How is your melee weapons last longer? Are you doing something specific? Because my weapons breake much quicker even I use the same character.
Weapons have a range of when they can break. For example, the scissors you find in the beginning can break on the second sneak attack, or the third sneak attack. Sneak attacks will get you the most efficiency for your durability as opposed to fighting, but there's still some randomness to it. If you need more help, I also posted a guide that gives three pointers for fighting bare-handed.
As of right now, this is everything in the game. There are listed areas that players cannot go to during the demo, such as a gun store, and I'm confident there will be more areas that weren't even hinted at in the pre-alpha demo. There will probably be more features as well that weren't shown, such as level 3 workbench tools and other guns not present in this build. The development team, PikPok, expects to release the game in 2025.
I kept giggling at you leaving behind med items because you weren't planning on taking damage! Love it. Can't wait to play the full release of this game. This was the best gameplay I've seen, by far. Enjoying the playthrough like the way you go about it. 9/10 amazing game wish the developers would have implemented a survivor's Nemesis system where you can either recruit, fight, hide from or bargain with other surviors
I doubt it will be similar to Shadow of War's Nemesis system, but they do plan on adding hostile humans. They'll likely be tied to a specific map, so I don't think there's going to be any sort of rivalry between you and them; more like This War of Mine. But that's just my prediction.
It's been a long time since I played This War is Mine, but I think this game was easier because there were fewer random events that just messed you up out of nowhere. Yes, zombies randomly smash a barricade every phase or two, but it's not like my guys were left bleeding or extra sad because of some random number generator I could do nothing about. This pre-alpha demo also does not have any sort of time limit in terms of how long you can take in any phase. Meaning I could sit and think while at the base, or while scavenging, all I want; and I don't have to worry about "getting back too late" and getting hurt because of it. Finally, the zombies and item drops are mostly predictable. If I recall correctly, in This War is Mine, you would be randomly given which locations you can search. A place full of food one time might not exist for you in your next playthrough. In This War is Mine, the base management portions were much more involved, but had more risk or consequences associated with it. In this first build of Into the Dead, the primary risk are the zombies in the action phase.

In one of my earlier runs, I was trying to hang from a ledge to break the line of sight, and the zombies started falling out after me instead. After that, I knew I wanted to include it in my Perfect Run to show off! I'm really glad you noticed it. I did a less cool version in the taxi depot just to flex on the zombies.

Yeah, it was part of the inspiration for doing this "Pacifism" run. (I stop short of calling it "Pacifism" or "No Kill" because you do have to clear a shelter to move out of the first zone.) I thought there was a slim possibility I could influence the way people played the pre-alpha demo if I didn't rely on weapons! I kept seeing online people lose survivors in the Presbyterian Church.

Just wondering, when you just move to the location, do you automatically loot all the resource at that location? Or is this just speed run that didnt matter? Cuz I didnt see you loot anything in record store, and just moved in
I wonder what will happen to the remaining items after you move your shelter to the location? Will those items be automatically transferred to your storage or will they be lost forever?
When you move to a new shelter, you take all of your old items and stations but leave the barricades; any items in the new shelter location are transferred to your inventory, even if you haven't lockpicked it or searched it. Currently, your barricades can get attacked even when first arriving, so returning to an old shelter with low barricades can result in the zombies breaking in, which is just a character damage report window.
They probably didn't include any survivors since everyone miraculously joins you without any resources; and people would probably be asking why they got a police officer with no weapons. 😇

But you do unlock more players and can stealth it out, but still some of those weapons shouldn't be breaking too easily, I wouldn't want to sacrifice my survivors,,.. this game is so stressful lol
A lot of people, myself included, do feel the durability mechanic is a bit over emphasized in this game. That was actually the inspiration behind the minimal kills part of this playthrough, which fed into other parts like speedrunning it.
Yeah, that's the most common feedback I'm sure the developers are getting. It was one of the inspirations behind this run, as I wanted to see how much we can avoid, ignore, or rush through. The only weapons the run uses are the ones to clear out shelters, and the rest goes to increasing our stockpile as gamers.
I have not played any of the mobile games, if you're referring to the original franchise. I enjoyed this game a lot! There are some things that I consider blemishes on the game, but it's overall a great package. Any concerns I have, might be pretty much baked into the game at this point: fragile weapons, being locked in place for animations, and "one button does everything and you better hope it's what you wanted."
Maybe it's not implemented yet. But I would assume that it might be simpler to pretend the zombies don't rely on light for vision, so that when the area is dark, the developers don't have to code anything new for it.
Yeah, I can see it. The graphics are a solid move in a positive direction: with the 1970s to 1980 look, variety of colors, and 3D rendering of the buildings. At the moment, the 3D part is really only noticeable when you're spinning around with a flashlight, or making the screen scroll left & right.
I don't know if the demo is out on it, but the game may be loosely planned for a PlayStation release. The Steam version is scheduled with a vague "2025" with consoles "to be determined."

They're the best survivors, no question. Daphne is excellent for base management with Penny being a strong anomaly in scavenging. I don't know if Sneaky will pay dividends in the full game, as the developers probably want any character to be able to accomplish certain tasks, but it does at least make going through zones faster.

Dude this looks (in my opinion) like a speedrun
I'll take that as a good thing! I also want to call it a speedrun, but there are some stealth segments where I have to wait for zombies to get out of my way; when it's faster to eat a hit or to kill the zombie with one of my many weapons. I wasn't sure people would feel I was misusing the term.

I don't know if stealth is the developers' intention, but I just didn't want to deal with the weapon durability mechanic.

Your guide is really good. I already tried a lot of times but I cant explore all areas and get all survivors within 7 days. Not to mention, not getting a single hit from zombies with good strategy play. Respect and like your video bro 👍

Curious if you take notes or if is all from memory for each zombie situation as far as how they move. It seems you have the timing perfected. Thank you for all your work. Im a 3rd shift maintenance guy and I watched this while listening to presses bang away lol.
I took notes then committed them to memory. This is why I do something like running past the last kitchen zombie in the Fire Station to take a single fastener, since there are seventeen total. Well, fasteners stack in groups of four, so if I bring home 16, that's four whole stacks and nothing is wasted.
I am impressed, like really impressed.

This game has a lot of potentials. I hope there is more zombie types and different game modes. I wish you have to defend your shelter from a horde of zombies lol or upgrade it with fences.
I'm personally not a fan of zombie types or running zombies, but Our Darkest Days is a branch of their main mobile game, Into the Dead; to my knowledge, that game has different zombie types, so we can expect to see new ones in the future.

38:25 roof zombie got bamboozled 🤣 best one so far because weapons conservation via stealth missions is the way to go tbh. A lot of others didn’t channel their solid snake
The game is misleading in that sneak attack kills are good to watch and hear, so you think this is a game where you put down any zombie slowing you down. Maybe that _is_ the eventual intention, but the surprisingly fragile weapons hinder that as a goal. I can play it either way, but I'd rather it be the action-y one!

Makeshift Axe & Makeshift Machete are available. Also the Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Hunting Rifle are unlocked, but the requisite components not in the game yet.
This game looks really neat. A zombie version of This War of Mine, is a great idea.
While I'm personally not a fan of the endless zombie games pouring out ever since Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, this one was certainly an enjoyable game.

The earlier scenes, you were like a ninja, stealth killing this idiots. Saving all available Player Characters, securing resources and managing resources.
The later part, is show casing your duking skills and limitation of enemy AI, while conserving weapons and resources.
Unfortunately, you have to kill all zombies in a shelter in order to move forward with the game. I've tried letting them all out the door, but it doesn't count. My pacifism was fueled by my aversion to the weapon durability system.
Cant wait for them to release this for consoles!

It took a bit of practice to get right. If you move too quickly or the zombie is too close to the window, he doesn't have time to see you and try to chase. It's completely unnecessary, but I really liked showcasing it!

They still have good morale! It's just that the positive bonus (buff) called "Hope" disappears after five turns when I completed "Strange Markings" hinting at help from the sewers. I gain it again once I complete a second plan of evacuation, Remain Calm, in the Walton Taxi Depot. Executing the plans themselves is not available in the demo, but collecting the puzzle pieces is.
The Hope status increases morale for every one of the five phases it is in effect. It's like the inverse of "Gnawing Hunger" for food which reduces your morale for every turn it isn't raised above a certain threshold.

Hi there,this was a perfect run! But I have a question: How is your melee weapons last longer? Are you doing something specific? Because my weapons breake much quicker even I use the same character.
Weapons have a range of when they can break. For example, the scissors you find in the beginning can break on the second sneak attack, or the third sneak attack. Sneak attacks will get you the most efficiency for your durability as opposed to fighting, but there's still some randomness to it. If you need more help, I also posted a guide that gives three pointers for fighting bare-handed.

As of right now, this is everything in the game. There are listed areas that players cannot go to during the demo, such as a gun store, and I'm confident there will be more areas that weren't even hinted at in the pre-alpha demo. There will probably be more features as well that weren't shown, such as level 3 workbench tools and other guns not present in this build. The development team, PikPok, expects to release the game in 2025.

This run was so perfect it was kind of boring... But still, big respect 💯
Enjoying the playthrough like the way you go about it. 9/10 amazing game wish the developers would have implemented a survivor's Nemesis system where you can either recruit, fight, hide from or bargain with other surviors
I doubt it will be similar to Shadow of War's Nemesis system, but they do plan on adding hostile humans. They'll likely be tied to a specific map, so I don't think there's going to be any sort of rivalry between you and them; more like This War of Mine. But that's just my prediction.

It's been a long time since I played This War is Mine, but I think this game was easier because there were fewer random events that just messed you up out of nowhere. Yes, zombies randomly smash a barricade every phase or two, but it's not like my guys were left bleeding or extra sad because of some random number generator I could do nothing about.
This pre-alpha demo also does not have any sort of time limit in terms of how long you can take in any phase. Meaning I could sit and think while at the base, or while scavenging, all I want; and I don't have to worry about "getting back too late" and getting hurt because of it.
Finally, the zombies and item drops are mostly predictable. If I recall correctly, in This War is Mine, you would be randomly given which locations you can search. A place full of food one time might not exist for you in your next playthrough. In This War is Mine, the base management portions were much more involved, but had more risk or consequences associated with it. In this first build of Into the Dead, the primary risk are the zombies in the action phase.

In one of my earlier runs, I was trying to hang from a ledge to break the line of sight, and the zombies started falling out after me instead. After that, I knew I wanted to include it in my Perfect Run to show off! I'm really glad you noticed it. I did a less cool version in the taxi depot just to flex on the zombies.

Yeah, it was part of the inspiration for doing this "Pacifism" run. (I stop short of calling it "Pacifism" or "No Kill" because you do have to clear a shelter to move out of the first zone.) I thought there was a slim possibility I could influence the way people played the pre-alpha demo if I didn't rely on weapons! I kept seeing online people lose survivors in the Presbyterian Church.

Took me a while to figure out what you meant! Yeah, it's just voices for a little while. If I didn't do that, though, there would by copyrighted music playing from the arcade area.
Do you write any of this down or just remember? I guess not killing every zombie you see helps with running out of weapons. Who knew?
I first wrote it down and then practiced it enough to have it (mostly) down.
Just wondering, when you just move to the location, do you automatically loot all the resource at that location? Or is this just speed run that didnt matter? Cuz I didnt see you loot anything in record store, and just moved in
You automatically clean out any and all items in the shelter. This includes the Galaxy Void Arcade's safe, which asks for a lockpick.
Am I forced to keep moving my shelter? I would like have options and be able to stick with one for upgrades?
You have to move, but you keep your station upgrades. Shelter-specific bonuses, like a water collector or garden, stay put.
I wonder what will happen to the remaining items after you move your shelter to the location? Will those items be automatically transferred to your storage or will they be lost forever?
When you move to a new shelter, you take all of your old items and stations but leave the barricades; any items in the new shelter location are transferred to your inventory, even if you haven't lockpicked it or searched it. Currently, your barricades can get attacked even when first arriving, so returning to an old shelter with low barricades can result in the zombies breaking in, which is just a character damage report window.

They probably didn't include any survivors since everyone miraculously joins you without any resources; and people would probably be asking why they got a police officer with no weapons. 😇

Naaawwww, the weapons break too easily, make them a bit more durable c'mon noww. Do the zombies like respawn in the non shelter locations??
But you do unlock more players and can stealth it out, but still some of those weapons shouldn't be breaking too easily, I wouldn't want to sacrifice my survivors,,.. this game is so stressful lol
A lot of people, myself included, do feel the durability mechanic is a bit over emphasized in this game. That was actually the inspiration behind the minimal kills part of this playthrough, which fed into other parts like speedrunning it.
Ugh, they seriously have that arcade section, but no streamer-friendly mode so you're not DMCA'd into hell?
Nothing yet, but this is early. I'd like to think they'll do something about it later, given how much word-of-mouth has influenced their game.

Yeah, that's the most common feedback I'm sure the developers are getting. It was one of the inspirations behind this run, as I wanted to see how much we can avoid, ignore, or rush through. The only weapons the run uses are the ones to clear out shelters, and the rest goes to increasing our stockpile as gamers.

I have not played any of the mobile games, if you're referring to the original franchise. I enjoyed this game a lot! There are some things that I consider blemishes on the game, but it's overall a great package. Any concerns I have, might be pretty much baked into the game at this point: fragile weapons, being locked in place for animations, and "one button does everything and you better hope it's what you wanted."

Maybe it's not implemented yet. But I would assume that it might be simpler to pretend the zombies don't rely on light for vision, so that when the area is dark, the developers don't have to code anything new for it.

Yeah, I can see it. The graphics are a solid move in a positive direction: with the 1970s to 1980 look, variety of colors, and 3D rendering of the buildings. At the moment, the 3D part is really only noticeable when you're spinning around with a flashlight, or making the screen scroll left & right.
