This is great Greg..thanks so much..i've got one of these in my 38 foot sailboat..doing a refit on the whole ship..atomic hasent ran in years..think last time running was 2006..not sure if the engine was foged or not..hopeing so..thanks again..vid was a big help👍
It's strange to me that most other manufacturers consider raw water, and fresh water cooling the same thing, but consider the (later) atomic 4 style of cooling a closed cooling system, because it more or less works like Mercury, Volvo, Crusader, etc, etc, closed cooling systems that employ an exchanger to cool permanent antifreeze/coolant mixtures, that in turn, cool the engine.
Great video. I was adding oil to my Atomic Four and I realized I put about a quart too much in the engine. Do you think that's ok or should I pump out the extra quart?
Greg, great video, thank you! I have an Atomic 4 that is built very similar to yours. I was hoping you could clarify a couple of simple questions: 1. I’m going to change the oil and was curious if the bolt on the port side (by the oil pressure bolt you spoke about) is the best place to place the suction hose to syphon the oil? 2. What does the little valve on the raw water pump intake do?
1. No, just use a pump to draw it up through the dipstick hole. 2. Not quite sure what you mean about this. Are you talking about the thru hull that goes out at the bottom of the boat boat - that valve ?
Hey Greg, im having trouble finding your email address on your channel. Was hoping to find a compatible part # for a new starter replacement for my '75 Atomic. The original didnt have any identifying labels. Possibly a couple other questions as well.
Outstanding. Thank you. Just came here from the forum. Do you have an album setup to show the stages of your rebuild? I thanked you for your post in the forum you could DM me there if you would like to share. Stay well.
Great Job on a great engine...thank you
Excellent video Greg, thank you that helped me a lot.

This is a great video! Thank you very much for making this.
how do you reach the oil dip stick?
Does the Atomic 4 have sacrificial zinc anodes?
Great walkthrough!
Very helpful! Thank you.
You wouldn't happen to know the size that framework that you built for your atomic four, would you?
Cost?
