  • In this adventure, I hike to the Romero Pools at Catalina State Park in Tucson Arizona. This hike is labeled as moderate at 5.6 miles round trip and 900 ft of elevation gain. The Romero pools is a spot along a creek with swimming holes and small waterfalls. It's really a great oasis in the desert to visit. The entire hike is beautiful with a lot of great panoramas of the park. If you have the time to do this hike while visiting Catalina State Park you should definitely hit it.

    Yeap......I have many jello leg hikes. That's how you know you are giving it your all. Cool hike. Looks like it warmed up a degree or two towards the end.

    0:48 Hey Eric, I understand the confusion. In Arizona we refer to that as a "river." Shallow creeks don't exist in Arizona because the sun is evil. :P

    Nice video. My favorite hike in Tucson. If you check out Montrose Pools again, hike upstream further. There are some nice pools higher up.

    Great video Eric! Catalina SP is so beautiful, I hope we go again if we are in the area. Looks like you went at the crack of dawn! It must have been lovely to have the trail just for yourself. Always a pleasure to come along!

      Yes Alex, you can totally understand why I came back to this beautiful state park a 2nd time. It was my favorite place in Tucson to hike, even more so than Saguaro National Park. I got to the trailhead very early in the morning and I loved seeing the sun come up as I went along the trail.
      There was not a lot of people as I was going toward the pools, but there was an insane amount of hikers on the way back. It's always a pleasure bringing you along. I appreciate it so much my dear friend!

    Romero pools isn't as popular in the winter from what i have seen. Unfortunately the park rangers have to do rescues all the time in the summer. Spring/fall are best times to do the hike. Remember to bring at hat, at least 2L of WATER, and a salty snack. The refreshing pools are well worth the almost 6 mi round trip.

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  4 роки тому

      Yeah it's a great hike but I definitely would not hike there in the summer. I can definitely see this being a very dangerous hike if you're not taking precautions. I really appreciate your comments and checking out this video! Thanks brother!

    Nice trail brother! Being in Arizona do you get use to the cold starts type of weather & then it being up to the 70’s or so? Over here in N.C. we have cold mornings & warm afternoons but nothing quite like that haha

      So this video I shot over a year ago and back then I was using a GoPro Hero 7 Black attached to a Karma Grip Gimbal Stabilizer. I shot at 2.7k 60. I slow my footage down to 50% to make the footage look even smother. Now I use a GoPro Hero 9 Black and no gimbal because the built-in stabilization is that good! I now I shoot in 4k 60. Thanks you so much for watching. If you are looking for a bunch more hiking trails in the Tucson area check out my Tucson Area Hiking Trails Playlist. You should ask for a commission from GoPro ... I just purchased a Hero 9 (initiated by your commentary). Would you mind answering more questions? When you say "slow my footage down", do you mean you reduce the frame rate to 30 fps at some point? ... on the GoPro itself or in post-processing? What format do you upload to UA-cam now? Thanks again for sharing your experience.

      @@FlashTraxFamily I've been doing UA-cam for about 4 years and finally I got enough watch hours for UA-cam to monetize me. It just happened 3 weeks ago. It is not a lot of money to start but getting paid to do something I Iove is amazing! You have to shoot in 60 fps because when you slow your footage down to 50% in editing it won't look choppy but seamless. I only do that when I am doing the music montages and showing off the scenery between my talking parts. I do it during my B-roll. I edit my videos with Wondershare Filmora X. Most editing software is very difficult to use especially it you never done video editing before.But this software is good and pretty easy to use. I upload in MOV, Resolution 3840x2160, and 60fps directly to my computer then from my computer to UA-cam. Congratulations on your new GoPro Hero 9 I hope you enjoy using it like I do. Let me know if you have any other questions my friend!

    • @FlashTraxFamily
      @FlashTraxFamily 3 роки тому

      @@adventuringoutdoorswitheric Thanks for being willing to continue this discussion. On the HERO9, do you use one of the existing video presets for your 4K/60 footage or did you modify an existing preset or did you create a custom video preset? You're right that editing software can be difficult to learn but I've become familiar with Adobe Premiere Elements and am hoping to stay with that app if I can. When I modified a HERO9 preset to shoot in 4K/60, the resulting footage would not import to APE. I could probably convert it first with, say, Handbrake but I'm hoping to find a native 4K/60 format that I can import directly to APE. --- Glad that you were able to reach monetization status, congratulations. I doubt I'll ever monetize the channel I use for travel montages because I use commercial audio tracks (here's my most watched travel montage ... ua-cam.com/video/d3zxDKTb7lg/v-deo.html) which is a different style with many stills edited in. However, I recently created a woodworking channel and passed the 100 subscriber mark to get a custom url (ua-cam.com/users/FlashTraxWoodworking). This one could possibly be monetized in the future because I use all UA-cam Library audio on this channel (even though monetization is not a priority).

    It's not a creek. It's an arroyo, or more commonly known among English speakers as a wash.
