And just in case it’s parroted: Medicine being better today doesn’t make it much less concerning either. More than half of players with Achilles tears come back lesser at their job statistically than they were before the tear. Regardless of age and position. The one thing that plays in his favor isn’t the weapons around him, it’s that Atlanta had a great, mostly healthy o-line last year. Keep this in mind: They weren’t pass blocking a lot last year, which might shift how we perceive their o-line this season because they will certainly throw more with Kirk. I’m not saying he can’t have a better impact than Russ, just hard to reason why we would project that.

We can joke about how bad of a head coach he was, but unlike a lot of OC coaches that get a head coaching job, they had good QBs running their offensive.
But Smith had Ryan Tannehill of all QBs look good, so again he haven’t prove he can be a good head coach yet. But guy shown he can be a good OC at least.

riddick is right -- Patrick queen is easily the biggest signing so far, and good luck trying to score on the steelers now because they don't have any major holes now. if russ plays the way he played even last year, the steelers win 12 games.
The difference is the chiefs also have a better defense, ranked or 2nd or 3rd last season. At the end of the day, you need a QB that can beat mahomes defense.

What is Riddick's problem? Cousins has not won any significant game. It is funny that Pickett, who won nothing, is better than Wilson. The excuses he gives Pickett he doesn't give Wilson. It is funny how Riddick has no problem with the Falcons paying Cousins, but he did not feel bad when the Falcons would not pay Lamar, but i guess he would take Cousins over Lamar.
Lamar Jackson was never leaving Baltimore. Baltimore could match Atlanta's offer, and Atlanta would've had to fork over picks. Atlanta would've had to give Lamar a Watson type deal. No way.

Tell me this how much money would the Falcons have made on Lamar merchandise as opposed to Cousins. Remember, Cousins has been good at stat padding but not willing games. How many playoff games has Cousins been to compared to Lamar. Remember, KC gave up picks to get Mahomes, and Buffalo gave of picks to get Allen, but you as Atlanta would not give up picks for Lamar. Tell me you wouldn't take any of them over Cousins. Be serious. Cousins will have good numbers but no big wins.

KC was the best qb on the market. The owner is old and wants to win now. Falcons have skill players but no viable qb. The Ravens tag designation guaranteed LJ was coming back unless a team paid ridiculous amounts and sacrificed high draft picks. Atlanta was not in a position to do so. If they did, LJ wouldn't have a team around him. No team was in the LJ sweepstakes because it was evident Baltimore wanted him back, why all teams dropped out early last offseason.
I always wonder when people put bets on Steelers finishing last in their division do they just love flushing money down the toilet for 30 years.

I’m far from a Russ fan, but SAS cooked on this one, even if Russ never starts. I like Louis’ counterpoint about Pickett not getting a fair shake, and the point about Queen, but that also proves the answer is Russ between the options provided, even if it’s a competition for starter. That would mean his arrival forced Pickett to be better than Russ which is a huge impact from last year. Kirk is gonna be good, but Wilson’s impact is way more important rn. And on a vet minimum, which means every other free agent they can afford could even be indirectly credited to Russ’s contract
As a steelers fan, Kc is the only team we honestly would rather avoid in the AFC n even then I’ll still take our chances 😂
