If you look closely in the Scared of Nevins scene, you can see the rope used to make The Cat in the Hat jump and the reason why the scene with the Fish trying to call Joan was cut was because it was similar to the scene with the Fish trying to call the FBI in the 1971 animated special.
Sorry, that line is temporarily out of order.
And in the TV store scene when cat the hat says “I’m out of here!” He slides off but as soon as everybody flys up, they have ropes on them too.

I remember watching these scenes on the DVD. When I was 11, I would watch the movie almost every day when I came home from summer school. I’m almost 30 now and haven’t seen it in a long time. It was one of my preteen guilty pleasures
As of today this movie is now 20 years old, so happy 20th anniversary to The Cat in the Hat movie!
The scenes with the gang in the TV shop were actually pretty funny.
*Sigh* I know this movie isn't the greatest and it has many, MANY flaws, but it's been held near and dear to my little monkey heart for decades now. It's my favorite movie of all time due to its silly and lighthearted nature. I just adore this movie. 💕

@@cranberrycanvas 1. the story honestly isn't done justice by this movie alone. Of course, nothing will beat the original Cat in The Hat, but this adaptation was quite lackluster.
2. I think there were a little too many adult jokes in this flick. I know it was tryna be edgy and Shrek-like, but it's Dr. Suess.
3. The acting from the children (the ones we spend the most time with) isn't very good either. I know they're kids, but so many of their lines sounded phoned-in, it's crazy.
4. Cat's costume is a little o the uncanny side and he just looks like a man in a catsuit (which it is, but we aren't supposed to be distracted by that while watching it)
5. The 'conflict' between Conrad and his mother was kinda forced. it had that one scene where both of them said they wish they had a different family.
*Mom: Maybe if you just behave, I wouldn't have to consider military school. I wish I could trust you.
Conrad: (monotone) I wish I had a different mom.
Mom: Well, sometimes I wish the same thing.*
these are just 5 off the top of my head. I do love this movie and think after all its flaws, it's harmless and it can be a good watch if you're in the mood for some silly shit. I also think it's played a part in developing my personality.
I’m mad. Some of these deleted scenes are hilarious. Shame the studio didn’t think this film would have any success so they trimmed a lot of the the good parts.
My favorite deleted scenes are the You In the Middle part, the flood and Sally’s cupcakes

A few random facts about these deleted scenes
1. The joke about Sally smoking cigars is actually used in the movie during the final scene with the Phunometer. However, as the checkup scene was cut, it sounds very out of context and it doesn’t make much sense for the Cat to say it
2. An extra singer stepped in for the notes Mike Myers couldn’t hit for the second verse of Fun, Fun, Fun. You can clearly hear this on the lines “There was this high strung cat who thought she knew it all” and “If you’re uptight, so loosen up and loose […]”. The soundtrack version leaves in Mike’s original vocal recording and you can hear that he doesn’t entirely sing and just talks in a changing tone
3. The part where the Thing’s face jumps out of the telephone is meant to be a reference to the original animated Cat in the Hat special. However, because of the way it’s delivered here, it looks very unsettling
4. One of the tablets in the first shot says “Vermin” but in the next shot it’s changed to “Explosive Diarrhoea”. Why they even had to do that I have no idea
5. The dam version of the flood scene is very unrealistic. This is obviously because they used the same clip as the last 2 versions.
6. The Cat licking his own bits is a real thing cats’ do in real life.
7. The checkup scene was actually used when the movie aired on TV. Albeit with different sound effects
I always thought the thing just appeared from under table. (Because that is what it looked like) Also: I wonder where they got the Dam footage from (probably some small toy dam or something)

I know alot of people are gonna be hate me for this, but I actually love The Cat in the Hat movie! Not only was watching this movie one of my childhood memories, but I love how the characters and setting of this movie look so realistic compared to the original cartoon book! The same goes for the live-action Grinch film! I really wish they could get back to making live-action adaptations of Dr Seuss books instead of them being animated. I would've loved to see how the rest of the Dr Seuss characters would've looked like in live-action! I'm sorry, but I'm not a fan of animated Dr Seuss movies! I would rather prefer the live-action films instead!
After reading your comment I have to agree with you. Both the live action Grinch movie and the live action Cat In The Hat movie are by far the best live action Dr. Seuss film adaptations.
I'm not a huge fan of the Illumination animated Dr. Seuss films that we got after Audrey Geisel forbidden future live action Dr. Seuss adaptations on Ted's work because sometimes they can be misguided to the books, the animated TV specials and the first two live action Dr. Seuss films.
I mean they did OK but they are not as good as the first three I was telling you about. After all both the live action Grinch and The Cat In The Hat movie are like a cartoon world come to life where you have one world where it's Christmas all the time with a backstory of The Grinch, The Mayor and Martha May when they were kids and another world where it's like Austin Powers because the sets, props and costumes are bright and colorful. Plus they both give you a difference and comparison to both the books and TV specials.
Also I have finally figure out why the live action Cat In The Hat movie hasn't became a box office success back in 2003.
I think it was not only the budget for the film making process to make the movie but Universal Studios forced Mike Myers to do this movie. Plus Mike Myers hated working on this movie. Which is why in some places during the behind the scenes of the making of The Cat In The Hat movie Mike Myers is making a glum look on his face and he complaints about being in his fury cat suit during the hot summer weather. Which is why the Dr. Seuss films are now animated by Illumination. Also Universal wants Mike Myers to be part of and he doesn't want to.
Since Audrey Geisel died in 2018 there is still hope for a live action sequel and I think you can do one. Yes. Even with Sally and Conrad in their 20's and 30's and Kelly Preston who played their Mom died last year you make it PG or PG-13. I know Mike Myers had a hard time with the last one but when The Cat In The Hat Comes Back Live Action Remake dose come down the line in the movie making business I bet they will bring back the 2003 cast and do a better job than they did with the first movie. It's been a very long time since the 2003 movie was released and it's about time they would do a sequel. When the live action Cat In The Hat movie get's it's 20th anniversary in 2023 then The Cat In The Hat Comes Back Live Action Remake will happen.
Maybe in The Cat In The Hat Comes Back Larry will come back to the Walden house to get his revenge on Sally and Conrad where Conrad is now married with kids of his own and Sally became an Aunt to Conrad's kids and The Cat will come back to help the family.

Well... to tell you the truth, I don't really have an idea for a live-action remake to The Cat in the Hat. But I would like a live action film involving a fictionalized version of Universal Parks & Resorts and having characters from the park appear, with many lands resembling the attractions!

Some of these scenes should of stayed in the movie.
For example, the scene where sally brings cupcakes to the party should of been added because it was funny, and also previously sally made a big deal about not being in the party and it was never brought up again for the rest of the movie. (It might of been removed because it would make kids try to put their finger in candle fire)
The scene where the cat did a "doctor checkup" should of stayed because it was funny and also at the end the cat tells sally to stop smoking cigars, which makes no sense because it was never mentioned anywhere else in the movie (It was probably removed because the cat was hurting them)
About the kid putting his finger in the candle flame, REAL kids aren't so stupid that they would KEEP their hands there for more than a few seconds. Also, it's bizarre that you would use that worn out LIE that kids will auto-BRAINWASHED into imitating EVERYTHING that a movie/TV show/song/video game does.

This movie was part of my childhood. Along with Barnyard (2006), Elf (2003), The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), The Polar Express (2004), Rugrats In Paris: The Movie (2000), and Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000).
