mike myers really brought his shagadelic humor into this movie, considering it was only a year apart from when the final austin powers movie came out, i can't say id blame him for bringing some of the innuendos with him into this film. this movie was my childhood, always has been and doesn't deserve any of the hate its gotten. such a classic that i grew up with and still continue to bring with me into my adult life. no regrets lol

A beautiful, timeless classic of a story of a cat making 2 kids cheer up during a rainy day with magnificent story telling, glorious messages it’s giving to the audience is now replaced by a re-animated roadkill who advertises Universal Studios, blurts out out-dates references, shits out dirty jokes (THAT SHOULD NOT BE SEEN IN A DR. SEUSS MOVIE!), Morals they are mean spirited and just unpleasant characters to like. Horrible adaptation of A classic book!
On the contract they sighed there is a small-print on it and it saids: if Conrad opens the crate the contact shall be null and void however though if sally and Conrad have learned ther mistake’s the contract shall be reanstated
I started watching “The Cat In The Hat (2003)” when I was 13 years old & I quickly knew the jokes that are clearly for adults, yet I still love this movie because of Mike Myers. My brothers always laugh at these jokes in this movie because we can’t really get enough of “The Cat In The Hat (2003)”. 2 jokes that I most definitely laugh because of how messed up they are are #6 & #1. Too bad there’ll never be a sequel to this movie because of the adult jokes, especially the ones on this list. I do technically agree with those who say the worst adult jokes in this movie should’ve been cut because it wouldn’t have failed at the box office nor with critics.

Mike Myers did a brilliant job at playing the cat. His laugh / snigger reminds me of his Austin Powers character 😆 and the kitchen cupcake scene - the “British” cat (when there’s multiple cats) sounds just like Austin Powers too 😄 I also saw Austin Powers 1,2&3 all as a kid. (In the 90s/early 2000’s) They’re funny and I knew they are aimed at an adult audience but I watched them with my sister as she liked them too. When I was growing up, I actually preferred adult comedies more so than films aimed at children. This movie is a classic, I enjoyed it when it first was released and rewatched it this year and I’m 32 and still enjoyed it. I liked the grinch too (the original cartoon and Jim Carrey live action one, not the recent one though)
The whole "Kupcake-Inator" scene was a parody of the "Amazing Discoveries" infomercial series that aired back in the 1980s and 1990s. Cat played both the host Mike Levey (sweater) and recurring guest host/presenter John Parkin (red suspenders). There are several episodes uploaded to UA-cam and you can really see the influence.

I LOVED this movie. It was also popular when our local high school debut, Seussical as their spring production when it came out. I will admit, because of the movie, I hated how The Cat in The Hat was portrayed in the musical. I was so upset that my dad was like "well they can't portray him like they did in the movie." It's still one of my favorite Dr. Seuss films. Plus, the costumes are amazing! There is one reference that was left out, and it was the Alec Baldwin scene where his television got repossessed.

The problem is that this was marketed as a movie for little kids. If it wasn't, no one would think this was a bad movie.
Also it was rated PG but it should have been rated PG-13 and I think it would have gotten less scathing reviews if it was PG-13
@@johnshea7871 Yeah, the fact that it wasn't PG-13 doesn't make any sense. The people who wrote the script for this movie are known for making comedies for adults too.
I feel like the great irony here is that Dr. Seuss used to draw nude women for a living before making a living as a children's novelist.

I was like 9 when I first saw the movie yet I got every one of these jokes. Anyways, Mike kinda destroyed any portrayal of Dr. Suess's when he said he was bad at rhymes. The car's original acronym, Super Hydraulic Instantaneous Transporter or S.H.I.T joke had me on the floor.
