Loved SVR 06 because of how challenging the matches were. The AI was so intelligent that if you faced a heel champion and were close to winning, the champ would actually try to get disqualified to keep the belt. Haven't seen that since.

This game was a absolute work of art for PS2 in my experience back in 2005-2006. Spent hours as a kid on the Career mode alone, not to mention the godlike soundtrack.

@@alec2000 well imo he overdoes it with the memes and jokes. Sometimes the jokes aren’t really funny and end up making the video drag on. And yeah the memes aren’t as profuse as with other people but he still has a meme like every 25 seconds.

Such a great wrestling game, it had Amazing Season mode, the gameplay felt perfected. The PPV MODE is decent. The roster is good, the graphics was just great for its time, the character model was really good, the match type were all there. One of the best WWE game of all time.
This, Here Comes the Pain, and Shut Your Mouth were the holy trinity of PS2 wrestling games

I like HCTP but there are things in it that annoy me. Like i remember playing Benoit and i could not get the AI to stay out on the mat long enough to use his diving headbutt finisher properly. They got up too fast in that game.

Definitely one of my favourite WWE games, me and my best friend use to play on our PSP’s all the time having hour long matches against our created superstars. I will say the GM Mode was ridiculously unfair, me and some friends went back to play it a few years ago and if you wasn’t booking steel cage matches every week it was an absolute pain and I don’t think I ever completed it since it was so easy to fail.

Ah man, Burn in my Light is so nostalgic now.
I can’t even remember which SvR games I liked because they all had some real great stuff. The bar brawl where you can do an interactable stunner and drop the TV on the other for the KO was a blast. Fighting in the street of times square was a personal favorite with destroying limos, the matrix jump and jumping off the heli. Some of the seasons modes were really great in general. Christian’s Road to Wrestlemania was hilarious. The physics for some of the games with weapons bouncing off wrestlers, the ropes and sometimes freaked out was great.
My personal favorite addition though was a DLC thing, introducing Ministry Undertaker. Oh and allowing you to recolor wrestler outfits was neat.

I played this game for an entire year. I remember going to GameStop for the first time and getting this as a gift for getting good grades in middle school.
I never had svr 06 but I had 11 and 08 and I loved them, I know they're not the best but man I miss thq games, I hope the aew game can deliver or 2k22 I just want a good wrestling game again

One of my favorite wrestling games. Loved GM Mode. I had TNA CAWs.
Just turn the stamina meter and beginning match mini games off. If this game had custom entrance themes and superstar threads it would have been like the perfect game.
I prefer to simply adjust stamina drain all the way down - that might work for you.
If you turn stamina off, tweaking momentum gain down might be a good idea unless you want more finishers.
Naw the mini games and stamina meter was great had to wrestle with some strategies against the AI

2 player gm mode where you and a friend compete for ratings is the most fun I've ever had in a wrestling game

About cruiserweights not being able to lift heaveweights, this didn't apply to intergender matches. That's how I was able to make Lita do a hurricanrana on Andre the Giant.

SvR 2011 with its awesome physics system is the best of that series of games IMO.
it was either that or ‘08 I think I remember the steel stairs bounced from the ropes, hit someone, then bounced off the ropes again and out of the ring. I think I’ve seen a ladder do that once as well as just absolutely rag dolled once.

Svr 2011 ai and matches were so boring
I never really liked the engine that much. No matter how much damage you take no one sells it very long. From the beginning of a match to the end, you basically get a knock down, get one move in, they pop back up and you do it all again. It gives it a really weird flow with no sense of anyone having an upperhand or solid control of the match. Close matches are often just a tonn of repeated animation, awkward, snap-into-position strike counters until someone builds a finisher. You can hit someone with a million head damage based finishers, go for 20 plus minutes, have a red damage indicator on the head, hit them with a submission move on the head and they can just not tap out pretty easily. There was not very much meaning or lasting weight or much "ring psychology" to what happens. The moves looked and felt good to hit, but the lasting repercussions were eternally disappointing to me.
The AI fighting itself is even worse for that, and it just constantly starts tests of strengths and immediately bails out of it with a strike. I feel like a lot of this branch of wrestling games tend to not flow like an actual wrestling match very well when you just watch them. Not that the AI fighting itself is a very good indicator, it just find it interesting how that tends to work out better and actually randomly spit out some actually compelling matches in some other games.
At some point the game design is fighting over being a simulation or more unrealistic and fun, and wrestling games constantly "wrestle" with the dichotomy between being an actual contest of skill, and the collaborative performance they are in reality. Because in an actual wrestling match, the guys stays down a little longer while the other guy climbs the top rope, ect. In a game, you stay down as long as your stun timer is, that doesn't line up with the in ring story telling that pro wrestling fans engage with or even recognize as wrestling with all its tropes and contrivances. I'm very happy for them to just lean all one way and just make a more over the top game, like an All-stars, or even the old midway arcade one. But honestly to me, this game was just the path that inevitably leads to 2K20. I think you can make better more serious games too, but these are not it in my opinion.
