Hamilton, you are an amazing person. You are the only person that I have seen on UA-cam that gives flat-out numbers from UA-cam earnings. You are the reason I started woodworking. I don't have a cnc yet, but hopefully, I will someday. I hope that your channel continues steadily growing and your success goes over the top.
You're the first person I've ever seen open the youtube video with exactly what I wanted, no intro, no fluff, no filler talk, no anything, just BANG there's the exact hook I came in for. I wasn't going to watch the whole video, but now I am, you have got a new subscriber. Thank you!
Same. I got what I came for, I almost clicked off honestly, and I thought, no, I wont. I gave it a like, and im going to watch the whole video, look at his other videos and consider subscribing if the channel fits my interests.
OMG no clickbait, no bs, straight to the point, and no stupid "smash smash smash" anything, just a polite request to click the like button. UA-cam needs more of this.
I used to think I wanted to start a UA-cam channel. I thought making money while engaging in hobbies or things I love would be cool. Then I found out how much work it is and generally how lazy I am when I’m done working. Thanks to everyone on UA-cam that make the videos I love watching. You deserve every penny of what you make!
Yep, I don't push my UA-cam channel because I'm not in it for the money. I just enjoy helping. 1/2 my videos can't be monetized so I was never worried about it. I just enjoyed making the videos. They do take a lot of time to produce when trying to get the best looks. I can say I spent around 3-5 hour editing and rendering them, but that doesn't count the prep work so I don't like a total fool when I record LOL.
@Leechburg Lights my problem is that I am shooting my footage at work. Ans since I get paid to do the work , I just can't spend the time setting up the shots. Or turning cameras on and off a bunch , so it makes finding the tiny amount of the shots I want , very time-consuming.
It takes 3x as long to make the thing you are making , craft, sewing, etc, when filming. I want to make my items and all the takes, editing I have no time to get my item made and sold.
Yes. And a requirement is consistency. No fail uploading. It’s a LOT of work. My only complaint as a big UA-cam user is that I pay the UA-cam Premium fees to avoid sitting through commercials, but almost all content creators now have in-video commercials for their own products and for sponsors. I’m paying and still sitting through commercials. I understand, but it does chafe.
Damn someone who actually shows the number without wasting 30minutes. Interesting that you got quite a decent amount for such a "small" channel. Hope you get even more this year.
Dude I came here to get all the details but you got an instant like and subscribe for not clickbaiting by providing the information immediately. This is quality creator tactics, very authentic and respectful of the audience's time.
Yes...and almost no one does it. Which I hate. Usually The reason I might click on a video can't be found except buried in the middle of a whole bunch of other info I'm not at all interested in. He got my sub today.
I've never seen your channel before but just wanted to say your intro made me want to watch the whole thing. I loved the honesty and transparency and that made me like you and want to stick around. You're right, you can't control what people will think but you can control what you put out into the world, and you did a fantastic job with this. Really pleased for your success and that you're still enjoying it.
I really liked the fact you posted the figure first and then gave the details. That actually drew me in as I normally scan past the nonsense at the beginning to find what I came for. I also very much appreciate the slide at the end that says how much time you put into the video you created. I learned quickly that creating/editing content takes loads of time and had to give it a break due to having full-time work and other priorities. Doing a UA-cam channel is something that takes lots of time and effort with very little payout. Kudos for what you've accomplished.
I don’t even enjoy woodworking. But I do enjoy and respect how certain people like yourself, know how to convey information concisely. Subscribed and liked.
Sir, your immediate disclosure of the information most people clicked on your video for is appreciated. Watched the whole thing because of that and it made me want to know the details. Well presented, informative and easily understandable. Good job. Subscribed.
Dude! Thanks for posting this. The thumbnail got me to click in, but then the content kept me here. Great explanations and information. I really appreciate it when you guys (youtubers) lay out what all it is that you guys are going through, like the reality of making/having/running a channel. You've got a new subscriber, can't wait to see some of your other stuff. Great job on posting that list of stuff you like to post about. :D
Dude your one of reasons I may finally dive into making my own channel. I have video and audio editing experience but never really decided to start mainly because my schedule was so chaotic. Now my schedule is set and I might be able to squeeze some time into making a video at least once a week
I think a lot of people are here for veeery different reasons so it's not possible to please everyone. I am actually here for the business side of all of it and love the stats, time spent, the fare, etsy and this detailed video as well. I also like that you keep it somewhat fun short and to the point. Your cnc projects are actually the least interesting part for me(I still like quite a big portion of them) but I do own a cnc(not the same model at all) and do my own projects so mostly it's interesting to see another person going through all the same hoops and his decisions. Keep on grinding.
This is what UA-cam is missing. It’s nice to hear numbers from a small channel. I only hope to grow as much as you did this year. It’s too bad that next year’s version will be less relevant to me because I know your channel will 100x
You've earned a like and a subscribe from me! I think it's so beneficial for people to go into not only how much a channel makes, but how much work it takes to get it, because when you opened with the amount of money you made, it sounds like a lot, but putting it into perspective of how much effort you put in makes you realize how much work it takes to be successful (even if you are one of the lucky ones, imo) I think that you are in a great mindset about the trajectory of your channel, so I look forward to seeing where you go!
Good on you, Hamilton! You are what UA-cam is about - both from online creator and gig perspectives! Since my channel’s just a half-year old, I appreciate you ad an inspiration. EDIT: This was soooo much more than a “how much $$$ I made” video!
So wonderful! I love how your genuine passion for making videos shines through :) Congrats on so much success! Thank you for your transparency and inspiring us all.
This video was great for a host of reasons. I appreciate you being real about where the money comes from, and about the amount of time that you spent even just making this video. Get out and try things, folks, it's one of the best ways to learn about the world and yourself!
I honestly really appreciated this breakdown, it was far more direct and sincere than a hundred "how make youtube work good" videos. My hopes for finance is pretty much there so I can afford to make better dramatic content....currently I only release about 5% of what I make because I just don't think it's good enough :(
Thanks for sharing your experience, Hamilton! Really helpful insight that I needed. I hope your channel grows exponentially this year. You've got great content! I love watching woodworking, it's very calming.
Keep the content coming. You make it look easy, I know it’s not; this video shows that. Linking your designs to your own site will help Viewers help you more, which we like! Thanks
I really hope your channel and goals work out for you. Its really cool to see you peel back the curtain and give great content without all of the trickery and bs a lot of other channels do. I am only passively interested in CNC, but your video and transparency were enough to get a new subscriber. Keep up the great work. I agree that if you focus on creating content you find valuable, with some luck and hard work, you'll find your spot.
This was a helpful video in so many ways. I offer you encouraging words. I look forward to seeing what you do this year. I do appreciate all the information that you shared here. I say this.. stay true to you. I find there is something about a shining personality that wins the ticket on youtube. I love to see joyful glee when I watch people work on their projects. When they end their project with a beaming smile because of what they finished. It does not matter what they were working on, silly or serious, easy or hard, it is the fact they were having fun while they did it and they were super happy in the end. The fact I get to sit and watch the journey and see someone happy about it in the end keeps me coming along for the ride. It looks like you are on a good road. I wish you all the best in this up coming year and thank you for your work.
I came to this video because of the title. And it covered it the content. So definitely no a clickbait. Moreover, you have a wood working channel. So now I'm going to watch your wood working videos.
I am glad I stumbled across your channel this year in my research on CNC machines. What I enjoy the most is that you are just straightforward and say it like it is. I really appreciated your Maketember and Makemas. I look forward to getting my onefinity CNC this year and learn with some of your files. Good luck in 2023!
Very much appreciate this video and your willingness to share! We love your videos and wish you all the best in growing this year! You definitely deserve to keep all that money and not have to pay Etsy fees for the sales you're driving yourself anyways! I'm sure a website is going to grow your business exponentially! Can't wait to see where you're at a year from now!
Your content is great! I look forward to each and every video you produce not because of the quality video editing or color science you use, but because you're fun to watch and create interesting content. Goes to show that you don't have to master video and editing to become a YT star. You just have to be yourself. Someone out there will like you. So find those people and enjoy doing what you do. Great work and I'm glad to see your channel coming along nicely.
Like others said, the intersection of woodworking and CNC. I appreciate the humor, the willingness to show your mistakes and share how you worked through them. I also appreciate the transparency. Some UA-camrs will clickbait title their videos, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone share the exact numbers. And you follow that up with "maybe that's worth it to you, maybe that's not worth it to you", which I think is important. Looking at your interests you listed, there is some overlap in my other interests, so I would likely watch different content you put out. Also, shocking about Etsy, but not really. Definitely get your site out there. I *think* Shopify is a viable alternative short of custom-built with a payment processor/gateway attached to e-commerce software. Looking forward to 2023.
Best “how to be a UA-camr” on the internet, because you’re not selling that service, just being honest about your experiences. Thanks so much for this, very helpful to me personally.
I have absolutely no idea why this video popped up in my feed. I tend to watch things like Neville Goddard, Joseph Murphy, Cosmic agency, bushcrafting... and the occasional Blow Me Away music video, or reaction to said video. That's about it. Out of the blue this thing pops up in my UA-cam feed and I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the coolest videos I've seen in quite a while. Thank you for uploading it! You may have rekindled my interest in Youtubing.
Dude you're an amazing person. I have literally a library filled with my notebooks of thousands of my ideas and designs, years to DECADES before I ever see them in reality. I never do anything with them because I have this bizarre hoarder/lack mentality. I don't want people to steal them etc. Even though there's more than I could ever do in my lifetime. I've wasted 35 years doing this. I'm trying to get over it and just put my stuff out there, and this video and your channel are really helping me get passed this mental block. Thankyou.
I don't give a fuck about woodworking and am not sure how you got in my recommended feed but man I enjoyed your attitude and enjoy how open you are. Keep at it brother.
Ok, Hamilton, before I even watch the rest of your content you got a new subscriber for that intro alone. The answer to the hook straight out of the gate was spot on.
Well dude, the algorithm worked in your favour again. I watched to the end and was inspired to keep making videos. You should be proud man! It truly is a labor of love with filming, editing, and editing the editing, and publishing. Keep plugging away doing what you're doing! All the best in 2023 ( and beyond ).
Thank you!!!! I can't stand watching videos where it takes 30 minutes to hear the 3 seconds of information from the title. I loved your video on the value of the craft fair. You have a relaxed and approachable presence and I appreciate the information you provide.
How awesome is that - you put the very reason we clicked on your video immediately!! How refreshing - you got and automatic like and comment and more time watched - thank you.
I love that this is also a straightforward explanation of how youtube works. Someone could watch this video, one on camerawork, and one on editing and they would have everything they need to be successful, provided they have the talent
Your video was recommended by the algorithm - I’ve been diving down the “how to make a UA-cam channel” rabbit hole. In a month of searching and watching content, your video is THEE (that’s right - THEE!) MOST HELPFUL VIDEO I have come across. The DIY vibe, your personality and the funny jokes on the green screen are all AMAZING! Thank you for sharing your experiences - it’s INCREDIBLY helpful to a UA-cam noob. THANK YOU! 😎🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love your integrity and transparency! I'm making it over the hump on my channel this year and you're helping motivate me while also informing my expectations. I'm subbed and excited to binge some of your content and see what this year will bring. Thanks!
I was going to skip to the highlight, but since you opened with the answer right away and didn't bullshit me; I will now watch the whole video with ads enabled.
That stock footage of a guy catching a fish. lol. Thanks for sharing the inside scoop Hamilton. I've been wanting to start a channel but need to get over the psychological barrier of putting myself out there.
Here's what you should do: Nah, I'm kidding. Keep doing this, you're great at it. I appreciate it not being clickbait, and I also love woodworking so you got me. Your projects scrolling in the background as you were speaking was a genius move, now I have to go check them out. I hope you get rich doing this.
When I first clicked on this video, I was like, "a 17 minute video that talks about monetizing UA-cam? I"ll just go on and find out the numbers and leave." And then you give me that info in the first 10 seconds (thanks for that)...what's more...your content and narrative was so interesting I ended up watching ever last second of the video!! Thanks for that...and for your honesty and candor and personal introspection about your process. You got yourself another subscriber today!! Cheers!!!
This is a perfect example of the power of authenticity. it's so shocking and refreshing to click the thing and get the answer of what you wanted liked and subscribed!
UA-cam makes about 30 billion dollars globally in advertising sales… there is money to be made if you want to put in the time and work your butt off. Congrats to this youtuber for hanging in there. Best wishes on your future success!
dude, I can't tell you how many people have purchased a set of my build plans off Etsy that are clearly labeled as plans, thinking they were getting a physical item. i'm glad im not the only one that's experienced that. great video, and keep up with the grind.
I subbed because I enjoy watching people who are excited to do what they're doing, not loud or crazy, just where you can sense their passion. This video is why I subbed❤️

I really appreciate you just giving the number at the start! Just for that I will let the whole thing play 😂
Starting off with the brass tacks number is great! Thank you.
How does Adsense work with UA-cam premium users? I forgot about ads for a second until you said the ad you watched at the beginning of the video
Hamilton, you are an amazing person. You are the only person that I have seen on UA-cam that gives flat-out numbers from UA-cam earnings. You are the reason I started woodworking. I don't have a cnc yet, but hopefully, I will someday.

exact same thought!
Same. I got what I came for, I almost clicked off honestly, and I thought, no, I wont. I gave it a like, and im going to watch the whole video, look at his other videos and consider subscribing if the channel fits my interests.
same!

OMG no clickbait, no bs, straight to the point, and no stupid "smash smash smash" anything, just a polite request to click the like button. UA-cam needs more of this.

Then I found out how much work it is and generally how lazy I am when I’m done working. Thanks to everyone on UA-cam that make the videos I love watching. You deserve every penny of what you make!
it truly is an insane amount of work , I have been making a video now for a month...
Yep, I don't push my UA-cam channel because I'm not in it for the money. I just enjoy helping. 1/2 my videos can't be monetized so I was never worried about it. I just enjoyed making the videos. Dude the fact that laid out the exact amount you made first is pure genius ! You got my sub and like for being a stand up guy.

Same here. Instant like and subscribe just for being straightforward. Made me laugh too. I liked the clear breakdown of sales/revenue.
Nice username
agreed
Just over 2 weeks later and you've gone from 16k subscribers to 19.5k. You're absolutely killing it!
I really liked the fact you posted the figure first and then gave the details. That actually drew me in as I normally scan past the nonsense at the beginning to find what I came for. I also very much appreciate the slide at the end that says how much time you put into the video you created. Okay so I am here for CNC content, but personality is a big part of why I subscribe to a channel.
Thanks! I've got plenty of CNC stuff to come!!
With your personality, content and video editing, I think you will exponentially grow this year 👌
Thanks! I really appreciate that!!
Agree
Totally!
Good job. Subscribed.
Handy information, Thank you Hamiliton.
Dude! Thanks for posting this. The thumbnail got me to click in, but then the content kept me here. Great explanations and information. Sooo envious of your CPM! But I’m happy for you! Keep rocking UA-cam dude!
Dude your one of reasons I may finally dive into making my own channel.
I have video and audio editing experience but never really decided to start mainly because my schedule was so chaotic. Now my schedule is set and I might be able to squeeze some time into making a video at least once a week
Love how open and direct this is - nice work!
GREAT comment that "you can make the best video in the world, but if people do not click on it, it does nto matter". More people should realize this.
This is what UA-cam is missing. It’s nice to hear numbers from a small channel. I only hope to grow as much as you did this year. It’s too bad that next year’s version will be less relevant to me because I know your channel will 100x
Mad respect for literally coming out the gate with no BS. Watched the full video simply out of respect after.
You've earned a like and a subscribe from me! I think it's so beneficial for people to go into not only how much a channel makes, but how much work it takes to get it, because when you opened with the amount of money you made, it sounds like a lot, but putting it into perspective of how much effort you put in makes you realize how much work it takes to be successful (even if you are one of the lucky ones, imo)

I’ll never make a wooden widget. But I love watching someone do that. Creators make stories worth watching. 😁
Thanks for sharing your experience, Hamilton! Really helpful insight that I needed. I hope your channel grows exponentially this year. You've got great content! I love watching woodworking, it's very calming.
Killer video dude, congrats on a great first year. Onward 🚀
Keep the content coming. You make it look easy, I know it’s not; this video shows that. Linking your designs to your own site will help Viewers help you more, which we like! Thanks
Oh my God. You just dropped the bottom line up front and didn't waste anybody's time. This must be a UA-cam first! 😳👍👍
I really hope your channel and goals work out for you. Its really cool to see you peel back the curtain and give great content without all of the trickery and bs a lot of other channels do. I am only passively interested in CNC, but your video and transparency were enough to get a new subscriber. Keep up the great work. I agree that if you focus on creating content you find valuable, with some luck and hard work, you'll find your spot.
he did it boys... he put the answer at the start of the video... amazing... put this guy in the next youtube rewind... world first...

Congrats on the growth! - Nice vid
Thanks! Hope to see you at Workbench Con, if you're going!
Very much appreciate this video and your willingness to share! We love your videos and wish you all the best in growing this year! You definitely deserve to keep all that money and not have to pay Etsy fees for the sales you're driving yourself anyways! I'm sure a website is going to grow your business exponentially! Thumbs up for your honesty.
Your content is great! I look forward to each and every video you produce not because of the quality video editing or color science you use, but because you're fun to watch and create interesting content. OMG you gave the number up front. That’s like putting out before you got taken out to dinner. Much appreciated.
Like others said, the intersection of woodworking and CNC. I appreciate the humor, the willingness to show your mistakes and share how you worked through them. I also appreciate the transparency. Exactly!
A UA-camr with self integrity!?!? Got what I wanted. Hope we meet again in my recommendations!
Best “how to be a UA-camr” on the internet, because you’re not selling that service, just being honest about your experiences. Thanks so much for this, very helpful to me personally.
Thanks for not bullshitting, man.
The fact you put the number at the beginning and didn't drag us out, got you an instant thumbs up.
What's the opposite of click-bait? This is that. Thank you man.
Someone on YT finally got to the point. Now I can die a happy man.
I watched the entire thing. I don’t really work with wood. I loved this. Thank you for taking the time to make it!!!! Much gratitude!!!
Bring the money topic and people gather, its mostly out of curiosity but that will definetely "convert" some tire kickers into subscribers. Well done!
I subscribed in the first five seconds. The world wants more straightforwardness.
Thankyou.
Your candidness is so fresh and welcome.

Ok, Hamilton, before I even watch the rest of your content you got a new subscriber for that intro alone. The answer to the hook straight out of the gate was spot on.
I was not searching for this. But today decided to try another channel. Thank you. Not coincidence.
Well dude, the algorithm worked in your favour again. I watched to the end and was inspired to keep making videos. You should be proud man! How awesome is that - you put the very reason we clicked on your video immediately!! How refreshing - you got and automatic like and comment and more time watched - thank you.
Man, that's a significant achievement for year one on UA-cam! Most channels never see that kind of revenue.
Thank you. Just decided I want to grow my UA-cam channel this year. I am a woodworking instruction and project channel. Wishing you much success.
THANK YOU! 😎🤘🏻🤘🏻
I do the exact same thing! I don’t tolerate negativity on my channel, so I will not respond and ban them if it’s negative. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you for respecting my time. That intro got you a subscriber. Also commenting for the algo.
I clicked subscribe within the first 22 seconds and didn't even watch the rest of the video. I wish more channels took this approach. Thank you!
That stock footage of a guy catching a fish. lol. Thanks for sharing the inside scoop Hamilton. I've been wanting to start a channel but need to get over the psychological barrier of putting myself out there.
I love your popup green screen presentation. Brilliant!
This is the first video I have seen. Your honesty and being upfront is what got my subscriptions.
I subscribed because you didn't click bait and just gave answer up front. I also watched your entire video. Thank you.
Thanks for the 13 hour investment! Very interesting and educational. Scott
I’m sticking around to watch the whole video simply because you gave me what I wanted at the very beginning. So refreshing!!
You deserve a medal for that opening minute.
Here's what you should do:
Nah, I'm kidding.
Cheers!!!
A 17 minute video with all the content promised in the first 30 seconds? Liked and Subbed.
Super interesting, thank you ham! Good luck this year!
This is absolutely the best description I have ever heard regarding UA-cam Revenue. Thank you.
What an absolute champion with that intro, you've won a sub.
No click bait! Wish more channels would do that. Subscribed just for that. Looking forward to more of your content.
I watched the whole video just because you hit me with the goods right off the bat. Thank you!
This is a perfect example of the power of authenticity. it's so shocking and refreshing to click the thing and get the answer of what you wanted liked and subscribed!
Great information! We just started our channel but have been woodworking for 60+ years! UA-cam is a new adventure in our shop!
Honest and transparent you have just got me as a subscriber. John a woodworker from NorthEast England.
UA-cam makes about 30 billion dollars globally in advertising sales… there is money to be made if you want to put in the time and work your butt off. Congrats to this youtuber for hanging in there. Best wishes on your future success!
Finally! Answer at the front!
Thank you sir.
Oh. So THAT'S how it works.
I'm going to send this to my son. He has a decent niche and perhaps this will help him. Great content, thanks.
I love seeing how the sausage is made. Good luck in 2023!
What a great video for a small YTer like me to watch. Thanks Hamilton!!!
You’re awesome for not dragging this out forever
dude, I can't tell you how many people have purchased a set of my build plans off Etsy that are clearly labeled as plans, thinking they were getting a physical item. i'm glad im not the only one that's experienced that. great video, and keep up with the grind.
Lol glad to know it's not just me!
Thank you for that opening, I liked right away and stayed till the end because of it.
I subbed because I enjoy watching people who are excited to do what they're doing, not loud or crazy, just where you can sense their passion. This video is why I subbed❤️
In less than 25 seconds you hit the mark. Keep crushing it!
Finally, someone opening with the answer to the question!
