  • 🤖 Over the last 75 years, advancements in AI and technology have grown at an exponential rate. Join international bestselling author of Solve For Happy and former Chief Business Officer at Google [X], Mo Gawdat, to celebrate the release of his new book on this very subject, Scary Smart.
In conversation, Gawdat, who helped write some of the code used in artificial intelligence today, explores how we must accept what he calls ‘The Three Inevitables’ - that AI will happen, that AI will be smarter than humans and that bad things will happen as a result - in order to create the better, kinder world we need to save ourselves.
Through real examples from science and engineering, this event promises to help us understand how we can better educate machine intelligence through our own actions, so that it will work with us - and not against us - in the future.
In Conversation with Mo Gawdat was originally broadcast on Mon 27 Sep 2021.

This video is a must for everyone. For the sake of humanity, we need collective action to deal with the issue of AI.

Mo's recommendation that we treat others as we would have them treat us, for the benefit ot influencing an increasingly super intelligent AI in a positive way, makes sense, but does moral exhortation ever work, in any form? I don't think it ever has, and ever will. I think we are a deeply flawed species, that is, (I think), doomed to be replaced by a species vastly smarter, as AI will become, exponentially so, regardless of our wishes, dreams of utopia, and efforts to come to terms with it, as its creators.

He knows deep down we are in deep trouble.. his solution of teaching AI to be compassionate, kind and not be hateful is an impossibility. All our lives we’ve been told to treat people as you want to be treated, bla bla bla.. Hasn’t turned humanity like so..
He knows that is not going to work, he’s just giving wishful hopes.

I've been playing with chat Gpt to write roleplaying adventure stories , and I must say at times I write motivates or actions that don't suite the characters and the scenario and the chat GPT has basically included what I ask for but adjusted it for the more "realistic " or truer to form response . Based on the response from chat GPT from a few sentences, I get the feeling AI will know us very well, and the real scary thing is we will ask for chocolate , the AI will give us Strawberry, but when we have the ice cream in hand we will realize we really did want strawberry more.

Here's what I find strange, how did these companies get a permission to develop AI? I assume you need a permit to develop a potentially dangerous technology, even more dangerous than the atomic bomb? And, if not, why is that so? Are they above state? How can you just make and unleash this technology without any consequences?

Conclusion. Poppy Jamie is gorgeous. I’m not worried about robots. Humans will wipe themselves out one way or another. Meanwhile I’m going to bed dreaming about Poppy.

@@samsonpug It's always best to restrain yourself, ( I'm talking about you, Samsonpug,) reacting in such a way with a serious topic, hosted by someone as is, obviously, very intelligent, as Poppy. But I get where you're coming from. Conservative attire goes a long way sometimes, in the prevention of unnecessary, and inappropriate distractions.
But some things are best left unsaid, whether you mean well, or not.
