I'm going to sixth form in September so basically bingeing a load of sixth form videos... then you said "I'm taking business, sociology, and English language for my a levels" AND I SCREAM BECAUSE SAME how did you find them?? :)
As if your doing the same haha!! I like my subjects especially sociology it’s interesting to learn about, business is very similar to gcse if you did it at gcse and english is a lot to remember especially all the different theories x
i’m doing these a levels also!! I did a year at college doing a course i hated so now i’m going to do a levels cos i feel like it gives me more options for the future. i’m scared though for all the work LMAO
I know so lucky! some formal clothes are so uncomfortable to be in after half a day of school. It would be easier to go in with our own comfy clothes as it would be more comfortable to work in. xx
do all colleges do ice breakers? i'm really worried about it because I hate being the center of attention and I cant talk to an entire class or a small group. any advice for if my classes do any ice breakers on my first day? its in a couple of weeks
Don't worry lots of people are probably feeling nervous as well. If you feel it would help you could try speaking in front of a mirror or about your favourite topic to others. Don't fear silences and remember others are all in the same position. In the end you will need to take a deep breath and speak if your are called on to speak, probably not for that long tho unless this was part of your enrolment assignment. Don't worry icereakers are for people to get to know you, not judge you on the subject you are taking. But if you. Really don't want to and you know your school does them, talk to your teacher or someone else you trust about it I don't know if this would work for you, but good luck I'm sure it will be okay. and goodluck with all your future endeavours. Edit: I guess I'm the end they can't force you to speak, I hope this helps and if anyone below wants to correct me or add to me feel free to.
@@steam_jane5580 hey thanks for your reply :) turns out only one of my classes did an icebreaker kinda thing -- he called it speed dating lol. when it happened I was nervous about what I was gonna say but turns out I was absolutely fine :) they were all so nice
I Hope it wen't well. They are great fun and help with teamwork if you have projects to do together like in Business Studies where you may have to form a mini company. The Teachers can also see how Students react, who is dominant, who is quiet and how confident they have become by the time they leave School.
@@racheldemain1940 lol yeh i think it wwent well from what I can remember. starting sixth form again in a few days but ill be taking one subject from year 1, while my other two are year 2. kinda nervous, kinda not. I'm just gonna power through and try to make friends this year :)

Flares are topshop xx I love sociology it is so fun to learn about you will really enjoy it if your into feminism and patriarchy x I don’t enjoy English as much as I find it very hard to write and answer questions, with English you have to write in a specific form else you don’t gain marks so if you have the technique then you will love it x
i’ll be starting sixth form in september and one thing i’m dying to know is about the dress codes- although mine may be casual are there any restrictions like no shoulders or things above knees? and another is if people all dress well in the first few days and just slack off later :) thanks for the video!
cryingggg I so badly wanted to do business but it was in the same column as sociology. I had to pick one so did sociology but i’m so jealous you did both haha.
i’m going to sixth form in september taking history, rs, sociology and politics (but i rlly wanna change history to psychology but i didn’t get the requirements so i don’t think my school will let me) and i’m really nervous lol. this was a very interesting video it’s made me feel a bit more excited for september
I’m shitting myself too in September. Just the change of a new please, a bigger one and whole load of new people. Hope we are eased into the work load.
It’s a lot at once especially if your joining an external sixth form! The teachers will always support you and if it’s too much all at once for you they will be there to help x
You are lucky, we were not allowed to go home even if we had free periods and they were put in the middle of the school day so it was impossible to go home anyway.
depending on how many subjects you take and the organisation system you use (day folder or individuals) you could get away with a tote bag. However if you take more than three subjects I'd recommend a backpack ( I do 5 subjects at A level and use the large Kanken bag)
I was rly hoping you would talk about how it was with the people there and if you made friends and stuff since i'm going in september and I'm scareddd ;/
Hii I’m starting sixth form on the 8th bought I haven’t bought my course books yet? Is it bad to turn up on your first day without course books? I’m thinking of getting them during my first week of sixth form
Do you mean text books because I am starting back soon and I don't have them yet. But that should be fine as long as you have done any enrolment assignment you have been given and have or are given the relivence equipment for your comming lessons (pens, ID, planner ect). At least I hope so. Good luck with sixthform and all your future endeavours.
i just came across this and i start 6th form this thursday... i feel like we're literally the same person especially with the things you say like "i sound like a man" i say that so often ahaha, btw youre so pretty and thank you for this
Did you take it as gcse? If so it is quite similar other than the fact you have higher mark questions and there’s a few added topics xx I enjoy business but it’s not my favourite

It is not for skiving or doing what you want, it is to help you develop independent learning for when you go to Uni and how you manage your time and make best use of research skills. Some schools like mine may have you helping in the lower school with Students who need help, all of which will help with Ucas forms so use the time wisely . Yes enjoy the free periods but be aware of the potential that you gain from using them wisely and show the Teachers that you can be trusted to do this.
I’m starting year 12 in 2 weeks. I have enrolment in 3 days. I’m fairly good at talking to people and would call myself a people person so excited to meet new people. But also scared because it’s a big change and like how forgiving are teachers? I’m fairly organised but also forget things a lot and like how much homework do you get? What if I fall behind ect (I’m taking literature, History and Law)
They are good with transitioning you into year 12 style workload so they don't overwhelm you don't worry! For teachers, make sure you're a model student for the first few months and then they are more likely to be lenient with you later in the year
@@Katie-be3wc ok thank you. And yeah I mean I have been a “model student” for 12 years of school lol (well maybe not reception- year 2. But like year 3 on wards). And History and English have always been my fave subjects (as well as law being an interest for ages)- should be fine but new environments are scary. Though i’m also super excited.
