Stewards Findings: Dani Bereznay Alfie Butcher (L25 T13-15) Decision: 4 license points to Alfie Butcher & a Qualifying Ban + 5s penalty to serve on their next event. (Pts on license: 4) Reason: Causing collisions. T13 - As they overtook another car on the approach to Turn 13, Alfie Butcher was on the inside of Dani Bereznay. They decided not to commit themselves to the overtake and backed off. However, they failed to do so safely, hitting Dani Bereznay in the process. It could be argued that Dani Bereznay could be to blame due to not leaving sufficient space. However, they only left space to allow Alfie Butcher to back off. They are therefore not to blame. T15 approach - After Dani Bereznay moved to the middle of the track to defend the inside into Turn 15, a gap momentarily opened on the outside of the track. This gap was always meant to close rapidly as Dani Bereznay's car was always pointing towards the outside of the track Yet, Alfie Butcher didn't back off and still went for it which lead to contact. Fortunately, Dani Bereznay didn't lose control of their car but this contact constitutes unresponsible driving from Alfie Butcher. T15 - Benefitting from the aforementioned contact, Alfie Butcher attempted to go around the outside of Dani Bereznay through Turn 15. While such manoeuvre is inherently risky, it is not unrealistic if well executed. In this scenario, Alfie Butcher's execution was very poor. They completely disregarded the line Dani Bereznay was following through the corner and failed to take into account the fact they entered the corner on a much tighter line. This resulted in Alfie Butcher clipping Dani Bereznay's rear axle through the corner, causing a major crash. This is a high profile mistake which requires harsh punishment, especially considering the Turn 13 incident.
