    When I grew my natural 4C Hair to a nice full afro that touched my shoulders, I was praising the Lord! Well, I decided to try it, but I never washed it out, and I have been using it for over a year! Tune in to see the crazy results. I hope it helps!

    To aviod the irritation from aloe, cut off the rigid edges, soak in water for 30-40 minutes. Pour the water off, rinse and pat dry. Then extract the aloe gel to avoid the yellow latex.🤓🤓🎯

    OMG, I'm on a long plait journey too! At 54, I also wear my hair in 4-6 plaits now as they are the plaits I wish I had as a kid. I did have big thick plaits as a kid, but not the really long ones that I wanted. I do wear Marly hair over my natural plaits as my hair is thin and the Marley hair protects my ends and keeps my hair stretched when I wash. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. You are most def a role model!!!!!

      @@Corporate_Carolyn Marley hair is 4c textured braiding hair. Yep. Love my plaits. I have two long plaits in right now--using my hair and Marley hair so that it looks like the hair is growing out of my head. My hair is almost as long as the Marley hair, but the Marley hair keeps it stretched. And it has been a life safer. I either braid it over smaller braids or in big sections--then wash my hair--and my hair stays stretched the whole time!!! I need to do a new vid to update. Yes, all this info should be passed on!

    The itching is caused by the yellow latex discharge you see when you cut into the aloe. Always wash it away under running water or leave to soak in a bowl of water,then throw that water away. Then use the gel.

    Aloe is my best hair friend. I am in Cape Town and a few years ago we had a droughtand water restrictions. Most people planted aloe in their gardens at the time. Drought is over and almost every garden in my neighborhood has aloe. So I started with aloe. Some of them are a bit more watery than gel-like. So I just thicken with xanthan gum. Something else I found as good for my hair is okra gel. I am not sure if its better, but I will def be using it in our dryer summer months when the aloe leaves are thin and dry. I usually freeze the aloe vera gel or juice for summer use but okra gel might be a Better option

    I use aloe as a leave in. I figure something so good doesn't need to be rinsed out. Your hair is gorgeous as are you. A good substitute for the actual aloe leaves is the food grade aloe juice/water. Since it can be used as a laxative some pharmacies carry it. I used that for a few months before I was finally able to get aloe at my local supermarket. It was a wonderful substitute.

      Hi there, and thank you so much! Believe it or not, I used to buy the big jugs of pure aloe, and I used it the way that the videos used to recommend, with no noticeable benefit. 🙄 I finally gave up until I saw a video I think early last year talking about using the gel on your hair, and crazy results happened as I did. So at my age, unless something different takes place, I’m going to ride it until the wheels fall off! 😆❤️

It did absolutely nothing positive for my hair when I used the seeds to make gel. The whole process was messy and just not worth it for me. My hair was just like "What is this?" lol. I agree that once you find what works, stick with it. No need to substitute if you don't have to.

      Hey there, I agree! It has been one of the best things I've done too! I bought the juice a number of times, but I never got the results so many said they got. I thought it was just more hype like so many things. However, I started to notice the leaves at the grocery store, and I wondered what it would do for my scalp. So I gave it a shot. I was amazed at how the slimy, okra-like goop helped me to detangle my hair better than anything else ever has! It really has been a game-changer. Thinking about making a video to show I get my gel from the plant since people keep asking me tomorrow, and I can't find the video that taught me. That should be funny! LOL

      Water has been my best friend for my dry hair. Spray bottle, water based daily moisturizer ( African pride in the jar) is my 1st choice. I've tried all the expensive ones, and this one is my favorite. mousse ( lattabody or African pride) and I wash at least 1x weekly ( when my scalp itches, I wash). I keep my hair in small twists and I do spray bottle, mousse and moisturizer almost daily. Some people love oils, they don't work for me, so I'm doing what works.

      Oh wow, I am so happy to hear that! Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it. Now, no one is saying I didn't experience any thinning. I think I have around my front edges. Someone suggested it was because of the permanent color, but it is hard to blame it on that when you have been through menopause. I really don't know, but that is how I have looked for solutions over the years just to make sure I am doing all I can do to create a low-stress, relatively gentle and careful handling environment for my hair. You won't see me in braids or with any protective style touching my hairline or small sections of hair. I have avoided popular styles that use crotchet hair because I think they can pull on small sections of hair possibly causing some thinning. Let's just say, once I hit 50, the stakes got higher, and I am no longer willing to take a chance any more. Praise the Lord, it is just for a season! Hopefully, you checked out my video sharing my experience with it: ua-cam.com/video/peFGS-qX3Pk/v-deo.html. The supplement I take may help. Either way, it does get better! Hang in there!

      Been there, done that during the early days of my natural journey about a decade ago. I think it was Ancient Sunrise, which gave wonderfully vibrant color, but it took all-doggone-day, and it made a horrible mess. Also, when I would talk about it on YT, some commented that if henna has indigo in it then it is not natural. Someone always has something to say. No matter what you do, someone always wants you to take it to another level. However, I decided that henna is not for me as my stylist warned me about precautions related to certain metals if you try to alternate with other coloring options. Frankly, it was more than I wanted to think about. And now that I am using the aloe successfully, how do I know the two will work well together? I don't, so I think I am just going to keep moving forward. Thank you for sharing your story though as it might be an option for others reading the comments. Be blessed!

    • @Corporate_Carolyn
      @Corporate_Carolyn  Місяць тому +2

      Hi there, I started growing it after a bad experience with a Brazilian keratin treatment (maybe around 2010). After I recovered from that, a stylist convinced me to get a texturizer. Then, I got tired of her bad treatment of my hair, and I stopped going to her. Eventually, I grew it out, and then a few years later, I found another stylist and asked her to give me another texturizer because I was tired of fooling with it! She did, but she left it on too long, and my hair was too straight. So, I grew that out and realized I needed to pick either color or straighteners. I chose color. So, I bounced around from one thing to another until about 2018. It looked really nice, but I wore it out all the time, which led to breakage. So, by 2020, I started doing protective styling. Then, around 2023, I started using aloe, which is when my Afro actually started growing down my back. So, with all that, it must have been a 14 year rollercoaster! LOL

    Hey, good to see you? Where have you been or have I just not been getting notifications? Love your method here and have not tried aloe on my hair but is it really greasy after all of that or does it absorb and pretty well? It looks beautiful. Is it affected by humidity when you wear it out or does the aloe somehow protect from that?

    • @Corporate_Carolyn
      @Corporate_Carolyn  Місяць тому

      Hey, there!!! Thank you for saying that and for noticing my absence! Your girl was over here licking her wounds and wondering where an old dog who doesn't feel like learning new tricks fits into the YT landscape! 😂 I was about ready to call it quits, but my son has that recording equipment set up right by my workspace, and I didn't want to let him down, especially as he felt it was premature to give up until I reached at least 100 videos. So, I took yet another shot, and it seems like I could be finding things to talk about that people want to hear from me. At least I hope! LOL Anyway, the plaits are greasy at first, so I run my hands down the entire length of the plaits to get off excess product or residue and wipe it on a paper towel. For anything that's left, either my hair absorbs it, or some of that greasiness dissipates as it dries. Not quite sure. If it is damp when I go to bed, I put a towel on the pillow to absorb some of it. I find that the actual greasiness comes in as I moisturize during the week with the Qhemet Biologics balm. However, I don't mind as much because when I take down the plaits, my hair looks moist and shiny. Also, it might be less greasy if you don't do it every week. I do it at least every two weeks, I think. Also, I have not really seen evidence that it protects against the effects of humidity. I find my natural hair is going to do what it's going to do regardless! LOL I think it behaves better than it would without the aloe, but when in doubt, I just throw on a protective style just in case! LOL I hope that helps. I am getting ready to post a video this weekend to show one of my favorite get-up-and-go styles for a time such as this. Again, thanks so much, and let me know if you have other questions.

    • @Corporate_Carolyn
      @Corporate_Carolyn  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you so much! But NOPE, I leave it in, plait it, unplait it reapply, re-plait it, and leave it in at least 3 or 4 times before shampooing again! Crazy, I know, but I have left it in for at least 6 to 8 weeks before! 😳 This is what has people questioning whether I have 4C hair or not because as long as the aloe is in my hair, there is definition and the curls are more elongated. I guess the aloe has trained it. LOL Also, the nourishing effect of aloe, maybe more so the fact that it makes it easier to comb, has led to this massive growth along with protective styling in my humble opinion. Especially from November to about January where I was recovering from knee surgery, I just keep reapplying and leaving it in plaits, I was amazed when I took it out in February. It was crazy, and it is continuing, which is why I decided to share.

      Girl! Thank you, and no shade taken, but the reason aloe became my friend is because it finally gave me actual curl definition, which I NEVER had. Years ago, people used to clown me because I could only do an Afro, and some people would say why don’t you do an actual style? 🙄 The only style that my hair would do was an Afro, and it would turn into a dry bird’s nest real fast. The aloe is what took me from tangly Afro to elongated curls. 🤷🏾‍♀️ My hair didn’t even look like this when a stylist gave me a texturizer. I will find a picture from way back when where I couldn’t get past just Afros. I actually considered going back to relaxers because of my struggles. So thankful the Lord led me to a solution to keep me from doing something so drastic. I will do a post on my channel if I run across some of those pictures. I never used to believe in being able to train your hair, but aloe has actually changed the texture. It has greatly improved my hair’s manageability and curl pattern, which is why I keep doing it over and over again. ❤️

      The hair typing system is intrinsically flawed. By the way it was created by a yt man 😂Hers looks very much like my “4c hair”. Also as the hair grows it weighs down and pulls on the curls. I also twist my hair so when I take it out it doesn’t look tightly coiled.
      The hairdresser who cut my hair was so shocked that it was soft bc ppl think 4c is dry
      So moral of the story, everyone’s hair is different bc of the diversity in our genes. My sister had much thinner hair than mine naturally. Mine is super thick for no reason. My dad’s side of the family is thicker. Also the front of my hair is easier to manage for some reason not necessarily bc the texture is that different
