When that TV cart came rolling in or BETTER, when me and someone else were asked to bring the cart in...we knew this was gonna be a good day! RB BUGG...was outstanding! We got the classic Disney, Casey at Bat, Paul Bunyan, Big John Henry Johnny Appleseed, Mr. Toad and of course, Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman! All the Merry Melodies! Those were my favorite days in elementary school! I think we got Picture Pages with Bill Cosby and Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings too, but that may have been Captain Kangaroo....we 70’s children had the best shows!
I remember watching this at school!!! Oh man, I wish this still came on!! My kids would love it!! I miss this, and "Read All About It" as well as "Under the Yellow Balloon" and "Under the Blue Umbrella."
We used to watch this in 3rd grade, and all I could remember was the goofy sound effects cracking our class up as the articles were proofread. Great memories!
"Red" is the actress Beverly Todd, who played Ms Levias in "Lean On Me" with Morgan Freeman who himself was a children's television regular on The Electric Company.
I can still remember the themes to Under the Blue Umbrella and Under the Yellow Balloon. It doesn't seem that long ago, but it's been at least 33 years since I've heard them.
Wow we used to watch those shows in class in the first grade. We even had the corresponding to go along with them. I hope some post them on U tube also. By the way we watched the Club in third grade.
Those shows not only taught me, but entertained me, as well! Been looking for "Umbrella" and "Balloon" on here, but alas, to no avail... But I did see R.A.A.I. episodes on there, though.... it seems today's "educational" television are more like infomercials for their kid friendly merchandise, and I don't see that many shows like these that teach kids what is necessary to stay with them beyond just the preschool/K.G./ elementary school years...
I've been trying really hard to remember a show that was kind of similar to this (late 70s). I never sat and watched it, but I remember the writing graphic was more pixelated (computer style), and there was robotic speech reading what was on the screen. The end credits rolled while the J.Strauss Blue Danube played. Does anyone know what I'm describing?
This was a great show growing up in the 70s. I can only imagine if this was made today the bug would be some sort of transgendered reporter/activist lol. Glad I grew up when I did.
I remember watching this even into the 80s. I would catch this show on days I was sick and home from school.
We had a teacher in elementary school, like 4th or 5th grade who would put this on for us! This was like 1985 ish

OMG! I had to fight back tears when I saw this! Thanks! They don't make good shows like this anymore!
If they were to reboot this show they would make R.B. Bug as transgender.

I actually wrote a story and sent it in as a child. Thanks for the fond memory!
I haven’t seen this since 1978!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!
"Red" is the actress Beverly Todd, who played Ms Levias in "Lean On Me" with Morgan Freeman who himself was a children's television regular on The Electric Company.
Sweet.
Great point! 👏🏽 I never have put that together! I loved her as a kid!...hated her when she was trying to shut down Eastside High! 😆
Wow! Mind blown thank you! I loved catching this show as a kid but never realized the two were the same lady. 🙂
This brings back some memories. I miss low-key programming for kids. I always liked Red.

I am DYING to see those programs again, and I hope that someone will post them here.

I completely forgot about this for at least 33 years until I came upon this. Thank you very much!
ha ha, I still have my "The Club" membership card from grade school in the '80's!
Some of the puppets of the nineteen seventies were awesome in my opinion
🎉
I couldn't remember the name of this show. We used to watch it in school every week. Thanks for posting this video!!!
omg, thanks for posting this! I was looking all over for this talking cricket that said a nonsense word I couldn't remember.

palabrajot! That's the only thing I remembered about the show.

I had forgotten about this show! Palabra jot!!!
The lady..she looks so familiar, like she has done regular acting.
Ah, the romantic tension between Red Green and R.B. Bug! Loved this show.
I have to.get this to Red right now!!
@yakmaniac I think this is the same Beverly Todd who would join fellow Mississippian(sic?) Morgan Freeman in "Lean on Me."

I remember seeing this exact episode. R.B. must be a cricket, because his legs chirped.
Does anyone know where to find that old PBS show getting to know me?
Came here for the Mississippi ETV logo, and that's about it.
Jalabra Pot :)

I tried to get into this show as a kid but it just came off as dry and too scripted and flat.
