ELCA here. So true about the sea change in ELCA leadership. The generation that held to Lutheran distinctives is quickly retiring, dying out, or if young, leaving for other synods (mostly NALC). My congregation went from having solidly orthodox teaching and practice to all the “woke” foolishness over the course of two short pastoral transitions. We pray for better days to come but right now it looks like the situation is only going to get worse.

Great vid. I'm on the board of Lutheran CORE, an organization that has continued to support the dwindling number of confessional pastors and congregations in the ELCA. All of us on the board are either NALC or LCMC as we got out, as did our congregations, but there are those few out there who continue serving faithfully in the ELCA because they don't want to abandon their people, knowing what will be sent in to replace them.

I’ll have to learn more about the Lutheran CORE, thank you for sharing!

Well said. Christian’s final point on the next generation of ELCA pastors is hardest for my people to understand.
I also believe my people have a hard time grasping that the ELCA has an episcopal structure vs our congregational structure. ELCA won’t let your congregation stay and fight if you have low attendance etc, they can and will close and merge your congregation without your input.

My people don't understand the LCMS, especially the struggle between doctrinal purity and evangelical outreach.

Great explanation. I was an ELCA seminarian in the late 2010s and dropped out in despair when I realized what the next generation of ELCA pastors looked like.

Do you work with the/a church now? I'd love to here more about what you saw.

Let me help answer what's going on over there. Heresy, falsehood, abandonment of the Book of Concord etc... Tossing the Apostle's Creed is a recent milestone. Now it's the Rainbow Creed.

I heard a sermon on Ash Wednesday were the Pastor explicitly said our bodies are in heaven with our spirit right when we die. I guess he forgot about the bodily resurrection at the end of time.

Not sure which is worse... that, or pastors saying the bodily resurrection is just a metaphor for having renewed hope in this life (which I've heard and shuddered when I did)

The only thing I'd say in the LCMS is that we have pastors who practice Open Communion or a very loose Closed Communion. This, if you ask me, is as bad as a pastor preaching an allegorical 6-day creation or a variation on the Virgin Birth.

I’ll be the first to admit there are communion practices at some Lcms churches that are horrific. One nearby did “at home communion.” Golden thread is, both seminaries refused to send them a pastoral candidate or vicar.
