so true and she deserved gold today she was poetry in motion and though Gabby Douglas is an amazing gymnst she does not have Komova's ballerina grace, perfect lines or artistry. she is the best in the world and today was not fair
I'm not a Russian stan. I judge gymnasts based on their ability, not the country they represent. You're just making up stupid excuses to not have to actually justify your actions.
I love komova so much she is a real champion she is a winner and when she cried for missing the gold I got so sad for her she hates to loose and I love this so much this is the spirit of the greats
I agree with those who say that just difficult acrobatics shouldn't be the end-all-be-all in gymnastics. Gymnastics should be, at its most exalted level, an art, not just a bunch of hard tricks "executed." I agree with those who prize Victoria Komova's artistry. She is so elegant and beautiful to watch in her gymnastics! All that ballet training that the Russian gymnasts get clearly pays off in their superior artistry. If I were in charge of how routines are scored, I'd put more weight on the beauty and artistry of presentation and less weight on the acrobatics. That's just me, I suppose many people would disagree. To my way of thinking, elegant artistry is the highest attainment in gymnastics, and Komova had that "in spades"! One other thing I wish the gymnastics Powers That Be would change: the current scoring system!! It used to be simple to understand! 10 points was perfect. 9.85 was awfully good, 8 points meant you probably fell off the apparatus. Easy to follow! Now I can't make any sense out of the scores! 16.85?? What does THAT mean? The Powers That Be have really taken the fun out of gymnastics viewing for the general population (including me--an ex-high-school gymnast--even though a poor one), since the scoring system is hard to make any sense of! I hope that Victoria Komova will not be too disappointed with her silver medals as the years go by. What she accomplished in her artistry far outweighs any display of medals!
@QPHashSS77 It's called Artistic Gymnastics. It is fun to see all the dazzling acrobatic moves, I totally agree. But in my case I would prefer a greater emphasis on balletic artistry more than on technical acrobatic difficulty. The greatest gymnastics combine both, of course. In any case, I'm in awe of any accomplished gymnasts! The highest score I ever got as a "rings specialist" in high school was a 6.75. Not the stuff of greatness! :-(
@QPHashSS77 It's called artistic gymnastics. There should be a BALANCE between artistry and technicality, and the FIG has consistently refused to recognise that.
@QPHashSS77 I'm not. I'm just watching my favourite gymnast and you seem to be EVERYWHERE and I don't agree with what you are saying, so yes I'm going to reply to you. I think you're the bored one if you're literally hunting down EVERY youtube video with Komova just to shit on her.
nice comment- komovas fx was the highlight so far for me, truly mesmerising and i am rooting for her, all the balletic Russians, Poner, Izbasa but mainly as you say just for some more gorgeeous gymnastics, would love to see a gold for Vika though, we all got to enjoy her art and so she deserves it, i also felt bad for Maroney, it was the right result but still a shame
Yeah that's exactly what I am thinking! Ponor actually represents the change of a gymnast from a teenager to a woman. In terms of her attitude and performance, she is becoming more mature and nicer to her competitors as well. She truly demonstrates what woman gymnastics means.
She holds her hands beautifully on the beam and in her floor exercises. The clip from her uneven bars also looks amazing. I wanted to see more videos of her performances from this Olympics.
I was disappointed and happy at the same time 'cause I've always wanted an American to win, but I wanted Jordyn ! And knowing that she wasn't there I finally was cheering Vika. And Vika did more mistakes than Gabby ! But I admit that if I had to choose I would give this gold medal to Vika. Even if I'm really happy for Gabby :) it's the Olympics !
i think Gabby is great too ( i would rather have her than Jordyn) but yeh i think people who really love gymnastics want Vika to win a lot of the times because she is so classically perfect to watch , they were both incredable though and Mustafina too especially as her and Vika are not supposed to be 100 %, i just hope Komova gets her day soon, i really thought she was as good or even better than douglas on beam, better on bars and quite a lot better on floor-
Vika was not ready to perform an Amanar on London. She was forced to...amd ended up saluting off the Mats. She could have competed this vault and gotten a higher score
When Komova was 14, she permormed an Amanar. At world championship in Tokyo 2011 she didn't do it because she had to recover from an injury, she had no time to prepare an Amanar. For Olympics she had time to train Amanar again. Komova trains Amanar since she was a junior and in my opinion she performed well on vault at Olympics, her twists are always very compact and clean
I don't think she could have. An amanar is 7 tenths higher in start value. She probably lost 5 tenths on the landing. If she stuck a double she'd score 2 tenths lower
@QPHashSS77 Are you like 9 or something? Because I'd hope anyone over the age of 11 would be too mature to be so dismissive of other opinions. Why are you like this? Genuine question.

@QPHashSS77 If you prefer her gymnastics, why do you consistently go on to every video of her calling her trash?
@QPHashSS77 But you don't call Gabby trash, do you? So it's clearly not about that.
@QPHashSS77 And "doing it because others do it" is the height of hypocrisy. This probably isn't the best way to go about making your point.

@QPHashSS77 I just enjoy "airing my thoughts," even if some of them might be air-headed! I also just enjoy adding my two cents now and then.
"My bad"?
@@Radiatoron88 No, not your bad. His bad.
Viktoria on floor reminds me of gymnasts from yesteryear. Such grace
Thanks, you have talent with these montages. Well done. :)

Вы действительно красивая
i feel bad for viktoria :(
真美@@
I thought it was Viktoria
Victoria Komova sudah baligh. Ya, iyaaa lah.
I'm American but she should have won. This girl was fun to watch which is weird coming from a guy who used to hate gymnastics.
@QPHashSS77 Are you like 9 or something? Because I'd hope anyone over the age of 11 would be too mature to be so dismissive of other opinions. Why are you like this? Genuine question.
y she cry?
Because she was disappointed at not getting gold
She is not the Gold Medalist. Get over it.
