First time trying Hunting Simulator 2

Hey Bumblewoot, here's another long post from me, but I hope this helps some. It's cool to see you branch out and play Hunting Simulator 2. It definitely isn't Call of the Wild or Way of the Hunter, but it has it's own charm. There's no story other than the training introduction. It's just strictly a hunting game. I do like needing the licenses aspect (btw, the first license you choose is free and you can hunt the animal you select an unlimited number of times and only on the reserve you get the license for, but the rest you have to buy and are limited to a set number before you have to rebuy the license). The maps are really small which is more noticable on the plains or un-forested reserves. The limited field of vision in the forests does make them seem a little larger. But I do enjoy the forested levels, they can be quite challenging. The unreal engine is nice. I like the blurring effect when looking down a scope and whether you're focused on close up or far away. Also, there is no time advancement for the day. You choose one of three time periods in the bedroom at the lodge and then you're locked into that time for the duration of your hunt until you change it. That includes if it's raining or foggy. You can go prone, which is more noticable in third person view, but you can't move while aiming that way and you're limited on turning too I believe, but you can crawl while not aiming. I do like how the dog can track an animal without it having to be bleeding first like in CotW. That's a plus. Wait until you see the difficulty in hunting water fowl though. You'll need the right dog otherwise you're out of luck. I don't think there are zones in the game, the animals just wander constantly. The money you earn is the credits on the right side of the harvest screen under the score. Anyway, I like to play HS2 as just another hunting location alternative mainly for the scenery. There's really not much to do compared to the other games and once you start filling up your lodge with trophies (pretty much your mature animals which are easy enough to get) there's not going to be much to pull you back except for the scenery. That and if you want to try to replace your mature trophies with the legendary ones, but that will take a lot of hunting for each species to get them.
Awesome! Thanks! I see that the first license I picked was whitetail. If I had picked moose it would have been infinite? That would have been awesome. Seems the game really rewards for moose hunting. The next two videos I struggle quite a bit in the game, but I have started to develop more video game like strategies that work once I enabled the animal sense triangle thing. So far the best part of the game is the walking around with the dog and the shooting so far is not bad. I wonder how much they actually modelled the different calibers. I doubt they did very much there, but maybe I'll find out. Very limited guides out there on this game it would seem.
Yeah, if you picked moose it would have been infinite. I realized that shortly after my first time playing, so since I wasn't too far into the game I just restarted and picked the one I wanted to hunt the most. I don't use the triangle myself, but I can see it's benefits. So glad that it's helping you. I also enjoy the wandering with the dog. Some of my videos end with the two of us wandering around. I'm not too sure about the caliber myself. I haven't looked into it much. The one drawback I have about the shots is they don't seem to have "impact" on the animals. They get hit but don't flinch much so the shots feel sort of weak. True there's not much out there as far as guides are concerned, but you can find some things here and there. But again the game is kind of limited so there's probably not much need for guides either. You'll get the basics pretty quickly playing around. Good luck with your hunts.
You know you say that about everyone trying to shoot the dog, but I've been running around with a Bloodhound in Call of the Wild recently and there's been multiple times where it won't let me shoot... When I'm just aiming near its general direction after it runs in front of me.
@@simpsondr12 yeah all games have it disabled and rightfully so. I just always see the question come up in any hunting game with a dog. I'd have to uninstall if it let the player shoot the dog
@@bumblewootOh of course, I'm just saying it's perhaps a bit too strict in Call of the Wild, like I remember not being able to shoot a moose that walked up right in front of me prone, because they thought I was aiming at the dog even though it was off to the side, I definitely was not trying to shoot it.
ah yeah, I've had something similar happen. I've also had it happen in WotH with the jeep. If an animal walks between the character and the jeep it won't let the player shoot
I guess, since the weapon has no front sight, you have to do, what the tankers do, just aim down the barrel and say "Well, that's good enough" And hope you hit your target.
Hunting simulator 2 does the clothing better than way of the hunter and call of the wild

I've played it a bit more, and I had fun. I'm not sure what to make of it either lol.

It wouldn't be that bad if it were an xbox 360 era game... I'm treating it like it is an old 360 game so I can survive it lol
