Simon, great review. I communicated with Xiaomi Support via their X account and then through the Feedback in setting (at the bottom) about the camera unable to switch between front and back camera while recording. They replied saying "We have included your suggestion and will communicate with the product PM to consider whether to add this feature in subsequent product updates. Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions." The more Xiaomi 14 owners request this feature the better chance they will add it.

Can you do a full cinematic review for Xiaomi 14. The previous one you did was a bit short. Would be cool if u make a full cinematic video of Xiaomi 14 in action especially since Xiaomi has been advertising the camera for cinematic use.
In the camera settings there's a option for front cam to set the exposure to either your face or the whole scene. Its called metering
it doesn't make any difference
@@SiHorrocks in the new update they updated the metering as well as hdr, portrait as well as some other things.

no it wont as matter of fact i purchased the green varient which has the same material as the white but the black varient is matt balck but the green does collect a lot of finger print but putting it in a case doent really matter :)
In 2024, where video calls and creating front facing content is mainstream, no OEM should neglect the front camera in a premium package, ever.
Totally Agree, if possible bring back the 2 front facing cam
In camera settings there's a option for you to set the exposure to your face or whole scene its called metering. So yeah they didn't look over the front cam

In the Xiaomi 14 I can't switch the selfie camera to back camera and visa versa when recording. Have to stop recording them switch the camera lens and restart recording. Really hope Xiaomi can fix this with an update.
Many have said that recording 8k video for 1 hour with sim tray open fixed lens fogging for them
I did that 9 years ago to get the moisture out of my Sony Xperia phone. Opened the sim tray and turned on the camera to heat it up internally 🤣

What is the difference in Raw in ultra Raw?
Maybe exposure issue is for Ultra Raw

Hi, thank you for the review. I was already fixed and shortlisted for the Xiaomi 14 , but now I'm again confused 🤔 after this comparison with 14U.
Obviously i cannot afford the 14U, but this tempting me to wait for the 14U to be affordable.

I am in the same boat.
I'll never pay that much for a phone and the size of 90% of phones is to big IMO.
I am still going for 14 since it's better in all these photo features than Samsung Apple and better priced.
If you wanna wait for Ultra to be better priced you will have to wait for release of 15 and get a used Ultra.
And who knows how much of these software things will be added by update to 14 and how many will 15 add.
@@smetljesm2276 that means i'll have to wait almost another year which i'm obviously not going to. I do own rather old Redmi Note 10 Pro now and really wanted the next phone to be the best upgrade in all sense. So i was expecting to get one 1" sensor phone, because i'm a part photographer. The Xiaomi 13 U was my candidate, but 14 just filled all checks except the 1" and smaller size.
14 U is too much, rather Samsung S24 Ultra is still cheaper than it in my place.
A major problem like lens fogging at any price segment, let alone this expensive is totally unacceptable….i’ve read many users complaining on reddit, it’s kind of a dealbreaker for me tbh…

8:36 4k120 on the 14 Ultra looks more like 720p@120 to my eyes, it looks very digital and overprocessed, which on Sony Xperia phone it looks like a proper camera

That rattling sound should only be while the camera app is not active.
When the camera engages the lenses should lock and not rattle.

The raw mode where you can't adjust exposure sounds more like than a deliberate ommision. That is crazy😅
you can adjust exposure in RAW in the 14. I think he's confusing RAW and Ultra RAW.
I bought regular 14 and you can setup as many custom profiles in pro as you like!
Xiaomi has released Hyper OS 1.0.7 for Ultra in which they claim they've fixed Exposure issue & improved Portrait shots.. So not sure whether your phone had this already..

Hello, does the Xiaomi 14 Ultra Global version you tested have a 5300mAh battery?

Actually you can use manual settings shooting RAW on the 14. If you are shooting in Ultra RAW you can't. But Shooting RAW 50mp on the main camera gives you control over SS and ISO and everything else.
You have shared wrong information regarding settings for iso,shutter etc

What did i gather from this Wonderful comparison, well IMO the Xiaomi 14 is a much better choice theres really nothing that makes the ultra worth the extra money over the 14.
So im buying the 14

YOU CAN CHANGE IT IN THE SETTINGS!! its called metering in camera settings which will let you choose if you want to set exposure so that the face is brigher or set the correct exposure for the whole scene

Front camera is the main deal breaker for me. I use front camera as much as rear cameras.
As far as front camera is concerned, the iPhone’s is still unbeaten.

Disappointed with the fogging lens issues with the Xiaomi 14, it's N expensive phone and least Xiaomi could have done is try rectify the problem instead of ditching the phone.

Bigger screen and variable aperture and of course only available in China, the 14 pro
You can import the 14 pro to wherever you are. I use a 14 pro in USA with TMobile without issues.
Do you thik there is a big difference between xiaomi 13 and xiaomi 14 for video recording on the main 8:56 camera
I haven't seen the 13 but my Xiaomi 14 pro's recording is absolutely incredible. I have not picked up my DSLR camera since I bought this.

Simon, thise device have lenses from Sony all the lenses are Sony and images get processed by Snapdragon Chipset and the Camera app by spyware king 💩 xioami 💩 so could you tell me what is the part of Leica here? What Leica do here? Nothing from Leica is here in this phone if i am not wrong.

There's a setting for front cam to either set the exposure to your face or the whole scene its called metering so yeah they didn't look over it. Its just set to the face by default

Yes you can use the 3 finger slide down screenshot, you can also screenshot using volume down and power button, you can select one or both in settings.
