I just checked with the TSA website and there was NOTHING ABOUT A LETTER FROM YOUR DOCTOR about the necessity for each medication. It sounds like the video creators are simply adding more requirements than the government or TSA.

Good to know. I had no problems and no letter last time.

Good info, except fot a detailed doctor letter. You have to pull teeth to get them to write a prescription, let alone a long "detailed" letter. I visited Japan last year and have so many meds(10) that I knew I would be interrogated. Had all meds in ziplock bags, had a pharmacy printout of my prescribed meds. Had no problems at either airport. I was prepared to discuss each pill and the diagnosis with security, but there was no need to do this. Now, the liquids and aerosols present a special problem.

I write the letter myself AND the list of medications, then my doctor merely needs to sign and stamp them. I’ve never had a problem.

People: if you are traveling within US, you should be ok. However, if your meds are not labeled/have a name stamped on them, slim chance you might run into trouble. If you are traveling internationally, you need you check on each med on the country’s website at least a month before you go in case you need dr letter or country preapproval.

    How about the drugstore medicine

Absolutely does not have to be in its original pharmacy container just to have your name and all the information on it. Have the pharmacist print you out a new set of labels to put on whatever containers you want to put the medicine in. There's not enough space when you're traveling to carry humongous containers void of anything but a couple of pills and a lot of empty air!!

What's with the two Hijab women! I have nothing against them, but why are they featured in this video. What does that have to do with medications. If anything, it distracts, because one might assume that this has to do with "security"...Hah

TSA cares nothing about your personal medications. It's DEA who should worry you.

I just flew with my medication’s in a plastic bag. Going over they were in my personal bag and coming back. They were in my carry-on. I had no issues with TSA.

My doctor isn't going to write a note like that LOL

I had the same thought. It is hard enough just to get an appointment, let alone a long letter from your doctor.

What the heck does TSA have to do with medication? Your medical condition is non of their business.
If it's within the liquid allowance shouldn't be a problem. Of course, bring a prescription for larger liquid containers.

All of a sudden we have no right to privacy. I just bring my doctors card. Never been grilled of my condition. So far haven't received a second opinion on my treatments 🙄

If the TSA Did its job correctly, there would be less problems.

Don't forget HIPAA rules. Dr. doesn't have to tell anybody what your conditions are. All they have to do is document what you're taking, if that. Your prescription bottles should be enough to get you through.

Here in the UK I take morphine through security and never been asked about it. Never declared it and I always put it an clear polythene bag along with my prescripton.

So are these new rules? I’m asking because I never ever have had an issue. I put my pills in the one week container and call it good. Never beened. The last time I flew was in January. Again no issues. maybe I don’t have enough to make them even care.

I flew just last week. I carried my meds AND my husband's in my personal item in two pill organizers. No issue whatsoever. They flagged a lamp and the toothpaste (we got to keep the lamp), but the pills passed through.

You don't need a doctors note. I checked with TSA. Doctors are very busy people.
