I recently discovered a cool and creative way to use washi tape. I had a lot just laying around that I didn't use a lot. So I put some on a piece of parchment paper/wax paper/baking paper, then used a hole punch (like your heart one) and made some stickers out of it in different shapes. It's pretty awesome!
I wish I was more creative and colourful with my journal. My journal is literally just words written with blue and black ink, maybe red if I'm feeling daring hahaha
+Patricia Paguio Absolutely nothing wrong with that! Maybe if you want, you can find a cute little booklet of stickers you like and use them when you are feeling EXTRA daring lol!
"I don't know if I'm supposed to throw this away, it might be a reusable one. So, I have to ask my mother." I feel like this describes moving away from home.
I've been scrapbooking for over 20 years and have a ton of stuff. I'm in the process of cleaning out my craft room (yup I have a room where I craft and sew). I started a video series on my room on my channel. Will be doing more soon. I use Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder crayons and Staedtler water color pencils. I too have an art journal. My most current thing that I've been doing is a fauxbonichi every day I write in that book. You can see flip through videos on my channel. I think I have a few from Aug to October on my channel. It's a lot of fun adding my scrapbooking into my fauxbonichi. Happy journaling.
First of all, you are so pretty! This is the first video of yours that I've viewed, so if I can make a suggestion? Have you ever journal with a fountain pen? And a good one? On good quality paper? The reason I suggest this is because it a whole different experience writing with such as opposed to a not so good quality pen and poor quality paper. When it feels good to write (because of the pen and paper), one is more prone to write more often. I've been journaling for years and I only write with a fountain pen. It simply feels awesome, especially when you use different inks. Just a suggestion. Ciao!
I know you uploaded this video like 2 full years ago but a compliment is never too late to say. You look so pretty in this video! I really like that lip color too😊
I'm definitely a saver, too. It's been amazing over the years how many times someone has said, "I need a..." and I can chime in with a "Here ya go... will THIS work???" (As I pull out some random thing you never in a million years would EVER think would be useful again... EVER).
I would love a video about prompts. Maybe you could talk about where you get your prompts, what kind you like the best, and give examples of how you respond to them? Idk that's just what I'm interested in hearing about
I love to journal and enjoyed this video. I have containers full of paper just like yours! I drive myself crazy, little scraps from everything. The Dollar Tree is one of the best places to get journaling supplies if you're on a budget. They have the washi tape, theirs is really paper tape and fabric tape for $1 and they have new patterns every season. It's not clear which I like better because it looks neater to me. There are lots of markers and they have my favorite liquid glue there and I have tried a lot of the more costly ones. They have lots of stickers and notebooks and books- have you checked out the hard back books there yet? Lots of new titles and great books for you guessed it $1! I art journal and planner journal. I love to collage which uses up some of my scraps I seem to grow. I love water color pencils and the new adult coloring books and cool to cut out sections of and use in an art journal. They have several of those at the DT now as well although the paper isn't as heavy you can copy them on card stock to use. Those tiny tipped markers you have are great for tiny spaces in the adult color books. I still have several kid coloring books that I still color in with crayons and I am 49! Coloring is soothing to me.
They have these crayola's in a pencil type casing that are thin & you roll them down as you use up the color, I found these when school supplies come out in late summer. My favorite time to shop for journal supplies. I got a couple of new things I had not seen before, and found notebook with stone paper that has a very different texture to write on.
I have two of those Watercolour pen. I have a huge art supply because I grew up doing art gUt I really recommend the pen even if youre not an artist. It's fun and easy to use. I've used it in my journal and it looks amazing. Really adds to it and I like how the paper crinkles as the water dries.
If I'd have gone back fifteen years ago to tell myself I would end up watching a teenager talking about her journal box and actually enjoying it my younger self might have considered a visit to beachy head, damn you Whitney and your amazing looks, what have I become.
This was so much fun to watch! Thank you for sharing your journaling box. Makes me think I should make such a box, as all of my journaling stuff is all over my studio!
You've totally convinced me to start journaling! I used to keep diaries all the time when I was a kid but have definitely fallen completely out of it, but I remember how much I loved it! Can't wait for more of your videos! PS: The journal tag on tumblr is an intimidating but beaaaautiful place! :D
why don't you do a background of a collage of your random scraps of paper which could be structured or random and then right on top or put a picture on it.
+WhittyNovels mostly I use them mostly for writing to add a bit of colour and make it look nice, sometimes I just do little doodles in the corner of the page. I've used them a for while and they're amazing and last really long.
Even with just using your phone, your quality looks good! Love thank you have a coloring book! I need to get one for myself! Overtime i see them I'm like dude i need a coloring book Great video! I always watch you and never comment so i figured i would change that today lol
My crappy little camera was doing the same thing so I've been filming on my phone as well till a new camera comes along. It's not so bad lol good luck!
Rewatching this vid just to stare at the pencils and pens. Mainly because I am buying them tomorrow for my colouring books. I have a new obsession *sigh*
+WhittyNovels I commented something like this on another one of your journal videos (first one, I think) about art. I've been drawing for basically all twelve years of my life, and I've seen myself progress so far. And honestly, don't be scared of it. I should probably take my own advice, but you just have to draw. You will not get better if you don't draw. You have to practice and keep practicing, and I promise, it will help. You have to remember that all the artists you see on Instagram like Stanley Lee or Brianna Garcia spent decades practicing. Practice, just practice. Sorry if that turned into a really long rant thing about practice and art. To clarify, I don't rate myself any better than you or any other artists on here, this is just my experience in the time that I have been drawing. I hope this helps with your art thing :)
+Juliana Weber My problem with art is I get so angry at myself that it looks bad, and it makes me want to stop trying. Which is why I haven't been using that box, because in the summer I did a lot of things I wasn't proud of, so now i'm less inclined to be creative again :/
+WhittyNovels if it makes you feel any better, I have that problem all the time too. I'm pretty sure that every artist does. You just have to remember that one day you are going to be so much better than you are now, but that can only happen if you keep drawing and rise above the urge to stop. I remember a few years ago I wanted to draw this thing from a tutorial video so badly and I tried it like five times but they all looked terrible. It made me super frustrated. Then a couple months ago, I went back to the same video and drew it easily. Just keep trying.
Hey Whitney, I'm looking to get the journalling prompt stickers for mum for christmas but she thinks they're overpriced :P What do you think based on the cost on the etsy page?
+biancareads You get 12 oversized sheets of 35 stickers on each sheet. I haven't put them down on paper yet because I'm waiting until January, but the paper seems sturdy and the stickers are super sticky so there shouldn't be any problems putting them into a journal. But the main thing I like about this is that I find it so hard to find prompts online that I don't have to think about first before beginning to write, but these are both deep and simple, and they're gonna last you for literally an entire year. (and perfect for a christmas present because january begins only a little bit afterward hah)
+WhittyNovels yeah I think they would be absolutely perfect for mum, but once conversion rates and shipping are added they're gonna end up being around $50. I don't think I can afford that :( I wish I was rich Hahahaha they're such a fabulous idea!!!!
This is the sixth time I've watched this video I love it an I love your personality can you please please please do more journaling videos?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!

+Devin Norwood OMG THAT'S A GOOD IDEA THANKS!
+WhittyNovels I'm sure someone has suggested this already, but I like to use washi to border some of my journal pages! :)
"I don't know how to art" LOL.... I say that exact thing! You are adorable!!!!!
I wish I was more creative and colourful with my journal. My journal is literally just words written with blue and black ink, maybe red if I'm feeling daring hahaha
Oh and of course there's the odd movie ticket stub or receipt stuck on there.
Same girl same
+Patricia Paguio Absolutely nothing wrong with that! Maybe if you want, you can find a cute little booklet of stickers you like and use them when you are feeling EXTRA daring lol!
Silhouette Smile I think I might just do that, thanks for the tip! :)
+Patricia Paguio hahaha I feel you
"I don't know if I'm supposed to throw this away, it might be a reusable one. So, I have to ask my mother."
I feel like this describes moving away from home.
Teach me your ways, Journaling Queen.
journalling must haves. pen and diary. sometimes pics or something similar.
Sorry if this is random but you're so pretty! 😭💕 I really like your hair in this video.

"I don't know how to art" xD
+Georgie Parkin (GeosBookBlog) it's true
+WhittyNovels it's okay, I don't either but I always seem to try to with the amount of art crap I buy and barely ever use haha
I generally use Washi tape for boarders.

I save everything too. I have about twelve notebooks and tens of thousands of paper.
I'm definitely a saver, too. It's been amazing over the years how many times someone has said, "I need a..." and I can chime in with a "Here ya go... will THIS work???" (As I pull out some random thing you never in a million years would EVER think would be useful again... EVER).
Something I keep to put in my journal is fortune cookie fortunes
Ally&Jackie bffsforever same!!!
I'm so in love with your journal videos! I DEMAND MORE

I love calligraphy pens they are super simple and easy and they make your writing look really beautiful. I have had some trouble with bleeding though.
I have two of those Watercolour pen. I have a huge art supply because I grew up doing art gUt I really recommend the pen even if youre not an artist. It's fun and easy to use. I've used it in my journal and it looks amazing. Really adds to it and I like how the paper crinkles as the water dries.
Every since you started college your look has evolved. I don't really know how to describe it but you lookin good gurl.
I love the staedtler tri-plus fineliners.
But I use them for art, not really journaling.
I understand completely about the whole WHAT DO I DO WITH WASHI TAPE!! I have so much but so little use for it!
You've totally convinced me to start journaling! I used to keep diaries all the time when I was a kid but have definitely fallen completely out of it, but I remember how much I loved it! Can't wait for more of your videos! PS: The journal tag on tumblr is an intimidating but beaaaautiful place! :D
Thanks for this! I want to start journaling, I just never knew what to use lol 💕
Great video! I have a coloring book too, and your picture is beautiful. Love how its Ariel. Excited for more videos.
why don't you do a background of a collage of your random scraps of paper which could be structured or random and then right on top or put a picture on it.
I love these kind of videos because they inspire me to try different things. Thanks Whitney! Hugs from Spain!
An updated What's in my bag vid would be fabulous. xxx
The box is a great idea!! I will definetly be doing that!!!
I have those fine liners, I got them as soon as I started journaling because I knew I'd need them. Plus, I might get those journaling stickers.
+misszully03 Do you use the pens for writing or drawing? I love them but they're so pretty and permanent that sometimes I avoid using them...
+WhittyNovels mostly I use them mostly for writing to add a bit of colour and make it look nice, sometimes I just do little doodles in the corner of the page. I've used them a for while and they're amazing and last really long.
if you're still looking for good calligraphy pens I recommend the pilot parallel pens
Can you talk about all different genres of prompts and then talk about your favorites
Even with just using your phone, your quality looks good!
Love thank you have a coloring book! I need to get one for myself! Overtime i see them I'm like dude i need a coloring book
Great video! I always watch you and never comment so i figured i would change that today lol

I LOVE those pens, they are the best of the best!
You're funny. And a lovely person. Very interesting. Thank yiu
"I don't know how to art"😂😂😂😂
Micron pens!! They're waterproof so you can write something then do watercolor over it.

Rewatching this vid just to stare at the pencils and pens. Mainly because I am buying them tomorrow for my colouring books. I have a new obsession *sigh*

I put receipts in my journals too.
+WhittyNovels I commented something like this on another one of your journal videos (first one, I think) about art.
