Sections heavier than any hard rock song of today, and sections more delicate than any indie/hipster song of today. Pure dynamics pieced together by a master of both. And will forever live uncompared.
He just had so much. Insane guitar skills, the most liquid voice I've ever heard, a crazy vibrato I've never heard anywhere else. The only singers who even come close right now are Matt Bellamy and maybe Thom Yorke, but Matt isn't quite as good of a musician (I love MUSE but most of his stuff isn't too intricate) and Thom doesn't sing as well even though he's a crazy musician. Not to mention everything Jeff did came straight from his heart. No thought, straight emotion to sound.
Jeff often added the repetitive "It's you..It's you....It's you..." section live; that section is not on the album version of Mojo Pin. However in this particular performance, during that part where he is adding the repetitive "It's you.." section, if you listen from 5:04 to 5:09 there is an absolute raw sensuality in the way he says "It's you". almost a growl to it...and (esp if female) tell me it doesn't melt you into a puddle right in your chair. such open raw sensuality is so rare. (cont)
Ugh he has the most gorgeously tortured vocals, so beautiful it makes me wanna cry. I'm just gonna put it out there that I'd like to make sweet sweet love to his voice, that is all ;)
He is gone. He music is hitting me hard, again. It's hard to listen to your musical hero; especially when you know you'll never get to see him live and his impeccable live show. Hurts. I don't do this often. When, I do, (you know the routine), I'm transported there with him and his band. Yeah, I'm one of the ones that struggles with the fact he is gone. He is our Genius. I dont know.....
Jeff was the total package. I remember Kurt Loder on MTV announcing he had been found, and they showed the aerial shots of the river. I cried, I was 12. Very sad. So I feel your pain!
(cont) and he not only was completely able to express it so openly, it's never in any way crude, or anything but him tapping into his true essence so beautifully. so incredibly rare for someone to be able to sing/express themselves so openly, especially with such intimate and deeply felt matters. that is what separated him from everyone else. how deeply he means what he expresses and how much of his true self he puts into it. such a rare soul, let alone musician. he is truly missed.
yes. it is an odd experience to have a sort of love affair with someone not only physically gone from this realm, but also whom you have never even met. he was *expression* in such a pure form that it is almost overwhelming to those sensitive to feeling such non tangible things.
InfiniteSpiral112358 I agree. I think that somehow in order to appreciate his music you must be sensitive. Many people don't get him...Oh well...I'm totally hooked on his music. Totally.
They don't make singers like this anymore. In fact, I've never heard anyone who sounds like this guy at all. Thom Yorke from Radiohead at times sounds similar, but that's it.
DYNASTYBASSMASTA20 I believe it. Radiohead is my all time favorite band, but Jeff's vocals are the only ones that might edge out Thom's a bit. Let me go listen to Pyramid Song after this, and I'll let you know!
Anthony Showalter okay WOAH. i *love* Jeff Seraph Buckley, and his music... to tears... many. but Thom is also a Seraph... and i have basically had to stop listening to Radiohead/Thom Solo in public because people think i am having some kind of weird catatonic hypnotic fit when i slip into his groove and it cuts me off (from everything else). Jeff's voice has done it to me too. but i would *never* compare them... (the only connection is the one that ***** mentioned about Nigel taking the band for a break from the studio to see Jeff play a gig, and Thom's reaction.) i can imagine. two Seraphs in a room had to be like Chernobyl. but to compare is impossible out of reach a lost cause before you start so let's notK.?
this is my favorite song by Jeff, because of the vocal range and guitar chords.....he was far too talented. thank you,@geraldthegorilla14 for posting this!!!
This is a great Buckley song, but for me my favorites are "Morning Theft," "Opened Once," and probably my favorite vocal performance live is "That's All I Ask (Live à l'Olympia)."
From time to time for the last like 20 years I have been falling into reading about him and listening to his music. He is one of the most mysterious and fascinating artists to catch my attention. Imagine what could have been judging by the pure genious he proved to be in just a few years. And this performance? Yeah, f*ck that. It´s beyond amazing.
totally. there have been times when i have felt almost bad about myself for feeling the sexuality in some of his live performances, because this is one of the most talented musicians we have seen in a long time.... and i felt disrespectful to his talent to find it 'sexy'... but it isnt that it is 'sexy' in the typical way, it is that it is sexy because you can see hear and feel the absolute raw open passion just pour out of him... and i dont think that is disrespectful to notice anymore..
Long time silence can can be understood as disapproval. Although it can express extreme respect, love and admiration ... think about this. (sorry for my english, but think you got the message) I love you Jeff!
Listening to this song is like falling in love again and again
ikr

Chris Allen perfect comment to a perfect artist
Nailed it Chris!
boomer comment, great song but boomer comment
There is so much tension in this song, sex and adoration in equal measure. So raw... so human
The commenter below who said "he just makes love with the audience each time he sings" got it just right. Amazing and beautiful performance.
Cathi Iuliano Agreed and this is my fav Mojo Pin performance ever.
he just makes love with the audience each time he sings... that's amazing
Jeff Buckleys music made me a better MAN....
+andre p Jeff Buckleys music made me a father!...if you know what I mean ;)
+mist3ral Well, worse things happen... ;-)
+mist3ral It would be hilariously ironical if it happened to you while you were listening to dream brother.
andre p this comment is beautiful
Made me a better Ze

2:20 most beautiful thing ever
Almost passed out the first time I heard it
4:06 for me…
Well it's you I've waited my life to see -
It's you I've searched so hard for.
This is the very first song I ever heard from him. The highs, the lows, the heavy, the light... remains my favorite.
How can such visceral, raw beauty exude from one man's voice?
I was there.... Jeff Buckley forever
lucky you
あの時の感動は私の一生涯の宝物です。感動のあまり、家に帰ってから彼の肖像を描きましたよ。
OMG you were there......... What i would give to be there.... You lived the dream of my life...
Best live performance I've ever witnessed in my 42 years. It invades my soul and gives me chills every time. Love Jeff

Born again from the rhythm, screaming down from heaven...Ageless.
Jeff, THE SINGER.
!!!
Oh man. Once in a lifetime artist. Immense talent.
1:19 - the ever so quiet whisper " I love you. "
Janine Slater thanks, I had no idea what he was saying at that point.
What a observation
I think that sound is a paranormal thing because Jeff didn't pronounced
Ugh he has the most gorgeously tortured vocals, so beautiful it makes me wanna cry. I'm just gonna put it out there that I'd like to make sweet sweet love to his voice, that is all ;)

He was too much for this world!!
he was really ahead of his time in a lot of ways and yet perfectly placed.
when the drums first kick in, absolute shivers.
hell yeah
beautiful light sustained d5 at 5:20
This is just pure sadisfaction. How fucking beautiful.
the way his guitar sounds is amazing
The greatest voice of all time
Why am i in love with a dead man?
I've asked myself the same thing since 1998.
+April P. I'm serious, i need therapy for this. D:
Jeff was the total package. I remember Kurt Loder on MTV announcing he had been found, and they showed the aerial shots of the river. I cried, I was 12. Very sad. So I feel your pain!
+Mr Hackett never searched for this "attitude" before in men
Mr Hacket is wide awake!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this artist!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the truest thing I've ever read about Jeff's music. That's what i feel every single day, listening to him.
So beautiful.... This is art....
I've heard him do that in other videos of him performing this song live, repeating the "it's you" over and over. It kills me when I hear it
(cont) and he not only was completely able to express it so openly, it's never in any way crude, or anything but him tapping into his true essence so beautifully. so incredibly rare for someone to be able to sing/express themselves so openly, especially with such intimate and deeply felt matters. that is what separated him from everyone else. how deeply he means what he expresses and how much of his true self he puts into it. such a rare soul, let alone musician. he is truly missed.
InfiniteSpiral112358 I want to save this comment. Thank you for posting this.
The first time I discovered that he whispers "I love you" at 1:18 I felt like I heard it inside my own head. I love ya, Jeff. Miss you every day.
how beautiful is sing whit you jeff, love yo for everrr
this guy will live forever..
The very beginning is sooo beautiful. Miss you Mr Buckley :(
it's weird how even before his death he had the voice of an angel. this will always be my favorite song of his. RIP

It's a Devine experience listening to Jeff Buckley.
completely agree
The voice and face of an angel. Jeff was heaven on earth.
They don't make singers like this anymore. In fact, I've never heard anyone who sounds like this guy at all. Thom Yorke from Radiohead at times sounds similar, but that's it.
Try the Velvet Teen
Search Matt Corby - Brother (balcony tv melbourne version).
What's cool is: Radiohead went to go see Jeff live, and it forever impacted Thom's approach to his vocals.
DYNASTYBASSMASTA20 I believe it. Radiohead is my all time favorite band, but Jeff's vocals are the only ones that might edge out Thom's a bit. Let me go listen to Pyramid Song after this, and I'll let you know!

You're right: J. Buckley is one of the reasons to say life is wonderful.
Maravilhoso sem palavras !!!

Long time silence can can be understood as disapproval. Although it can express extreme respect, love and admiration ... think about this. (sorry for my english, but think you got the message)
I love you Jeff!
Magic.
He helped me realize that some beauty is ugly.
Sounds wonderful... as a good friend of his father, Jeff is an image of Tim... breathtaking....
Jennifer Stace You knew Tim?

O Jeff faz muita falta, o álbum Grace é uma Obra Prima! Mojo Pin é uma das mais belas canções dele.
