- Graduation Hymn based on Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 in D composed by Sir Edward Elgar. It is known in the United Kingdom as "Land of Hope and Glory" and "The Graduation March" in the United States and in the Philippines.
Ah yes the song from the empire
Heard this recently from one of Queen Elizabeth II's events.
RIP QUEEN 👸🏻 🏴 🇬🇧
*rest in peace enemies against the mighty empire*
This melody gives me goosebumps and makes me cry. I know this song will never be played for me again

This is one of Englands unofficial national anthems.
this was originally made by a British composer named Edward Elgar

Why can't we just admire the works of Edward Elgar?

this one is for you macho man Randy Savage. oooooh yeaaaaah snap into a slim jim! dig it!
Beautiful, love having the parents involved in escorting you. In the US it is not done this way, and given the hard work it takes for parents to have a child complete college they deserve to be honored as well. I am in my 50's and played this song in band since age 11 to 28. No idea it had lyrics ! Wow, keep learning...

Hopefully 🙏🏻 the world peace process support the next generation living with prosperity and peaceful and respect the reasoning for their living and can stand up by themselves after we passed away 🥲. It’s not just for us today 🙏🏻.
Britannia is the mightiest of all!!!!
The entire gymnasium got colonized.. thanks to this banger
One of the truly great compositions of modern times. Thank you for posting his grand piece... one can never hear it enough. I also enjoyed the video of the young graduates. Where are they? What institution were they graduating from?
They're from the Phillippines however i dont know which institution they are from.
Hehe we play this at all out graduation ceremonies too
pomp and circumstance
It's land of hope and glory the original song
This may be British, but the words radiate American vibes.
And if we Americans sang these lyrics, I bet they would say "Land of hope and glory, Land of the free," Or "Land of hope and glory, Land of the Brave."
I mean im from UK but i get what your saying, because in manifest destiny US really did get Wider and Wider lol

Congrats to the class of 2023 I am Graduating this Wednesday!
Thanks for the video and the majestic music to graduate by! I hope you had great marks when you graduated! (I presume you did graduate!) Thanks again!
Bruh this song aint an american graduation song it is a British Military march one
This is not and has never been called "Graduation Hymn". It's either Pomp and Circumstance or Land of Hope and Glory.
A minute in, it sounds like the Land of Hope and Glory (Pomp and Circumstance March no. 1) that was recorded at BBC's Last Night at the Proms
the graduation song is based off that and doesn't have lyrics
@@Shiltz it's just the same as the US national anthem - stolen song repurposed because they couldn't be bothered to come up with something themselves!
@@adsheff I don't see it like that. Music is repurposed all the time. A great piece comes along one day and a guy sees an opportunity to add lyrics. It can't be too bad when it has 400,000 brits singing along to it on the last night of the proms
@@adsheff unless you mean the graduation song. Sorry, i think I misunderstood for a minute because I thought I was replying to a different comment
I'm one of 2020
Four more years till I graduate secondary school
0:50 for my reference only.
Feels like an anthem
It’s Britain’s unofficial anthem
It’s the anthem for most schools
@@drcrisp8538 no it isn't. We don't usually ever hear or use Pomp and Circumstance for anything in the UK. We don't use it for graduations or anything like that. Our actual unofficial anthem is Rule Britannia, which is a much better song than the dreadfully slow, plodding and dreary "god save the king/queen".
@@duffman18 yeah true. My bad
It can be, one of my hobbies is country making. I am not very good at it but I am making one whose anthem might be a version of Pomp and Circumstance.
Bonita canción
This is a British song, don't any of you know the words, Land of Hope and Glory, you should watch the proms and how the British sing it in a Patriotic way
Im filipino but i keep thinking about the british empire listening it
We knew it was a British Song. However, this is a popular Graduation March in some countries.
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
What's with so many countries using a patriotic British empire song to graduate?
its an old song really used more abroad than the UK, its outdated really
Ok I might be alot late right now on this but this is the first time I've ever heard the lyrics to the graduation song why is this allowed in the schools but prayer isn't is it because it's not song out loud or because it has the word god in it I need sence to be made of this Please
(i'm assuming US) We do allow the word god, it's in the pledge, but prayer isnt allowed in school because it breaks the separation of church and state, many schools instead opt for moments of silence in which those who wish to pray do.
The lyrics are specifically for the original purpose of the song, a patriotic anthem to Britain

This was played when I graduated from high school not the chorus part
May be "To Sir with Love" by Lulu is more appropriate for high school graduates :

Sounds kind of evil at parts lol
“Oooohhh yeeeaahhh!! Cup of coffee in the big time!!”If you know, you know! Macho madness is spreadin’ like a wildfire
...So, it's a gospel hymn, it has literally nothing to do with graduation and the phrase "pomp and circumstance" is not said a single time I the entire song. Next, I suppose I'll find out that the song we all think is "Here Comes The Bride" is called something completely different, does not contain the phrase"here comes the bride" and has nothing to do with weddings, brides or getting married.
eeh not quite. it's a song originally used for the coronation of a British king
Graduation is a form of coronation, don’t you think?
It's Pomp and Circumstance March no. 1 composed by Sir Edward Elgar in 1901. "Land of Hope and Glory" is a lyricised version written by A. C. Benson in 1902. That's why pomp and circumstance has nothing to do with the lyrics.
@@aforgottenfriend2987 queen not king because that time the Queen Victoria was the Queen of United Kingdom
Take some music lessons please. YES, "Here Comes the Bride", officially known as the Bridal Chorus (by Richard Wagner) was actually a song about marriage in his Opera "Lohengrin", Act III, sung in Germany. It was sung after the wedding ceremony, and as the bride and the groom enter the wedding chamber (to be husband and wife).
One the other hand, "the Hawaiian Wedding Song" was originally just a Hawaiian folk song and had nothing to do with weddings, brides or marriages at all. It was later adapted and rewritten as a wedding song and sung by Elvis Presley and Andy Williams later. Many songs and musical pieces have changed their original meanings and purposes as time goes on.
Oh the British empire
OH YEAH
@ 0:22 America Ferrera !!!?????????????
No?
My life is a.lie...
But the song is ok but why those faces kinda look like Filipino or austrian
The most popular name now for baby boys in Britain is Muhammad and the birth rate proves that Sir Edward Elgar's music will soon be on the wrong side of the critical race theory.

HA! HA ! HA!
By the same token, the Wedding March and the Bridal Chorus are stolen from Germany ?
Well the world shares alot of music, its not like any of these songs are copyrighted plus i think it actually makes sense for the US since they literallt got wider and wider in manifest destiny.
@@Adriano993the British empire was the worlds largest empire in history followed by the Mongol Empire in 2nd Russian Empire in 3rd, Spanish Empire in 4th, Quing Dynasty in 5th and French Empire in 6th. The United States is 7th at most probably is a high bar for them considering Portugal had two large African Colonies plus all Of Brazil, and the Ottomans had much of the balkans and North Africa at their peak so they may not even be a top 10.
Plus Rome is way more glorious than America cuz they basically are the reason the west became the dominant powers. so Rome would be the better empire for the song than the US.
