how he talks about his parents' sacrifices is amazing. such maturity and awareness is quite rare especially amongst teenagers. i hope he becomes a world champion, he's the perfect successor to the equally wholesome and mature Vishy Anand.
I love this interviewer idk why. Superb questions, nice chemistry with gukesh, went with the flow. It's hard to lure answers out of gukesh but that interview was awesome. I'm almost wanting to watch it again. This calmness of the setting, this thoughtfulness of gukesh, the correct pacing of the interviewers questioning. If this was a 3 hour joe rogan type interview, i would watch every single second of it
It's the case for the majority of Chess prodigies, but when they become teenager, it gets harder to keep them motivated and disciplined It's not only his dedication who made him so strong, the quality of his training and obviously his natural talent are also a part of his success What's really impressive is his stress management, he seems like very focussed even in high pressure situation which is a quality really hard to acquire even for top players like Hikaru who for instance only started to manage it in the right way once he quitted chess for a time and became a streamer. When he was fully focussed on chess, it was too hard for him to handle it. The last Championship match with Nepo and Ding was only about nerves management and the chess quality was poor even if it was a great match if we take all the dimensions. I don't see Gukesh choke or loose his consistence that much for instance
Winning candidates at 17 AND then being so so Indian and humble in nature is not you find in any other country! Our heritage is incomparable. Love you Gukesh D ❤
Very matured answers by this 17 y/o kid. Revealing only enough, and yet making sure it doesn't feel like he is skiping the questions. Salute to his parents & school management for doing everything necessary, to nurture his talent. ❤️ Love & best wishes Guki! 🇮🇳💐
Congrats champ once again. well, his chess base India interviews are more joyful and engaging!! All thanks to Sagar Shah for bringing the smile on gukesh's face amidst his general composed attitude.
Gukesh got great reception and became a huge star in India. Vishy Anand said he felt like passing on the baton to Gukesh. He is the next big thing in India and world chess. Hope he wins the world championship 👑🤴
Well done gukesh ! Very proud of you ! After watching this interview .. I realise .. he has chess in his life .. ( with parents) . He can’t go on like this for his entire life . Has he Thought about “what will I do after chess.. ? This moment will come soon ( when he wins the world championship )
They really want gukesh to say he got help from other gms, and had an extra support. Like even in the vishy era the interviewers were asking him dumb questions, when would it stop for Indians.
Nowadays, it's not just seconds but there's a whole team of 3-4 people who help the players, especially for candidates and world championships. It's a normal question, nothing against Indians
Chill, this is a normal Q for all candidates. When you win suhc a big tournament and become world challenger, everyone wants to know what the team is--this is natural. Of course, Gukesh may not want to reveal too much just yet, as there is a world championship yet. The Qs are fair; his deflection is also fair. No foul.

Excellent interview.Gukesh is so mature, calm, and collected. He is not just a great player but has all the trappings of a world champion. All the best,Gukesh!
What a champ this guy! He got lucky to get to the candidates by qualifying last minute and even in the tournament never really did anything extraordinary as his wins were against lowest rated player, with Pragg who aggressively pushed for the win and with Alireza who had already given up on the tournment by that time. however, his draws against key competitors played the big role, and cautious approch by other top player played to his benefit. Nonethess, he definitely is way level headed than fabi (who can be tagged as a choker by now), nepo (no patience) and Hikaru! So well deserved win at the end.
Tbh none of top players won against each other except Hikaru against Fabi which is not strange given their recent history. Gukesh was much better against Nepo but blundered in time pressure so there is that also.
This is a good observation, and a reasonable sobering view of the tournament. Well done--it is hard to get such sobering analysis, that too from same nationality (no offence meant).
When chess is played perfectly from both sides it is always a draw.. but even getting draws against Top players was kinda win for him .. He won cuz he draw with top players and win against underdogs
Winning candidates at 17 is not an easy job, well played gukesh 👏
what an understatement here....

I agree completely with your praise for the interviewer. This is so much more her format than the post-game press conferences.
What a guy ....he is talking like a 30 yr old ... Best of luck champ !!
Gukesh is great and can be world champion. Good luck in match with Din Liren.
Thanks ❤❤❤❤
It shows he has dedicated whole of his life😅 to chess. He can very well achieve the pinnacle of a sport in just 11 years which is mind- boggling.

What? Every player has 2nd. Magnus also had. Without help how would your knowledge grow thats expected. Interviewer just wanted to know who are those
