    In Australia, RM Williams is seen as a heritage brand. Originally they produced boots for workers that needed durable footwear - now they’re the boot of choice for every Sydney corporate lawyer, director, trader etc.

    I have followed Antonio for years on the channel. Where is started for me to learn how to dress professionally and be taken serious as a young physician actually propelled me to learn about the theme of investing in myself, in education and skills to learn to be a high valued professional and man. It has helped me advance my career further than I could have imagined and quicker than almost all peers. Thanks Antonio!

    Love the breakdown of the brand's history. My only hesitation is that some if these brands (Hermes, Burberry, etc.) have very prominent logos or garish brand printing, which goes against old money fashion (understated).

    • @RPanda3S
      @RPanda3S Рік тому

      Yeah, I expected Antonio to mention that the higher quality (and more expensive) selections from these brands do not carry the logo so prominently. But I'm not sure if that's true, and would like to hear about it from the man himself.
      "Old money" isn't really a style that I'm invested in, but that's what I've heard. Would appreciate anyone who can confirm or deny my understanding.

    • @thegentlemanplayer9689
      @thegentlemanplayer9689 Рік тому +2

      Burberry plaid is ignored over here, it was destroyed by market stalls selling everything in it. We wouldn't entertain it now. Predominantly far east and americans buying it.
      If you had ever had the joy of going to Hermes and the attitude of the sales assistance unless known to them, move on.
      All these brands have overpriced logo junk and very expensive classics.
      Zegna suit and blazer, gorgeous fabrics, and timeless classics. But you need to understand the various sub brands under the overall business. Much like RL with polo, purple etc. The Polo horse is as tacky as any logo, which honestly leaves RL really only supplying Purple label.

    • @besnyj
      @besnyj Рік тому +1

      Yes that over logo stuff really sucks but I've heard that many of these brands will have stuff of even better quality but without the logo for those like us looking for it and willing to pay the slightly higher price

    If there is a part 2, you should probably add Aquascutum to that list. They began on Regent St. since the 1850s and have outfitted Royalty, politicos and the best dressed English celebrities such as Michael Caine since their inception. While Burberry caught the public's attention, and has benefitted tremendously from their superior marketing campaigns, Aquascutum outfitted the English Army with trench coats in WWI and WWII and their waterproof wool fabric (their invention) was used in their coats for officers in the Crimean War. Their quality is their hallmark more than their fashion status is. When Edmund Hillary first scaled Mt. Everest he did so having been outfitted by Aquascutum. They also have their own unique club check pattern that is a great scarf alterntative to all those ubiquitous Burberry ones both real and fake. I have a vintage lambswool overcoat of theirs that might just be my very favorite article of clothing that I have ever owned. It has held up incredibly well despite being my main winter coat for many years now.

    We Gen Xers have a soft spot for Polo. It was THE uniform for us in our teen years in the 80s. I worked for weeks to save up for a Polo oxford dress shirt. Now I still buy Polo especially when I see a sale, seasonal clearance or get to an outlet store. Not quite the same quality as the vintage pieces I have but some of it is still better than the flimsiness of other "high end" brands. A few years ago I was at an upscale thrift in Vancouver. I was wearing the green Polo Golf ball hat that came with the cologne back in the 90s. A young Asian man came up and asked if I would sell it to him. I politely declined because it was a sentimental gift. I have a piece or two from some of the other brands mentioned but my heart is always with Polo.

    A fun fact on the Burberry trench coat. Back in WW1 they were worn mostly by officers and other higher military personell and if they got shot folks would risk their head and run out into no mans land to get the coat off them. That’s how good they were back then. Mostly due to the conditions in the trenches and they were waterproof and durable.

    I am 20 years old (but I look 16). I am short, like the old money look and people would probably describe me as a nice guy.
    I want a fragrance manly for dates and clubbing.
    I like the fragrances Doir savage Elixer and the Spicebomb and have heard that Ultra male is a good fragrance too, but I have not smelled the ultra-male.
    I just cannot decide.
    What fragrance do you think fits me the best?

    We need the second part, specially in the breathable area for the people of South America and the caribbean.

    I def. want to see more videos like this of brands Antonio! Also I wanted to ask, do these old world brands today necessarily mean quality and well made clothing or did a lot of the big name brands like Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Burberry, etc. sell out to greed and say how can we make the others look the same but make them more cheaply made so we can profit more? That is what truly want to know. They could have been very will made and high quality when they first started but now that they are a household name are they still making their clothing with the same quality of the old days?

    The original "Kingsman" store is called the "Huntsman" on Savile Row. You can even request designs featured in the Kingsman movie.

    After seeing Turnbull & Asser at the end of the video, I think a video on reviewing brands associated with the James Bond franchise would be entertaining.

    Great video! I believe Ralph Lauren is pronounced "LOHR-en" not "La-REN"

    What is the general consensus on Charles Tyrwhit? Are they good, or just "fast fashion"?

      They are definitely not prices as fast fashion and my co-worker has bunch of their sweaters (jumpers) that he really likes. Another friend has some of their shirts and he likes them too; very good quality for the price (value).

    As a Brit, all this video says to me is that us Brits should be the most stylish people wearing the best products on the planet! Then I go into Central London and I see...sportswear and Primark worn by lots of people! What the heck happened??????

      You have hit the nail on the head! Our youth just wear sportswear mainly and shop at JD sports or sports direct! Us more mature guys do dress well. Thanks for your observation!@@lucaskobain
