  • Among all designers that show at the big 4 fashion weeks of New York, Milan, London and Paris Fashion Week, we get introduced to creative directors who are desperate to rise to the challenge of the art form of fashion design and make their brand the next crucial voice in the fashion industry. The fashion community struggles to embrace new talent, so today we’re going to talk about the most qualified new fashion designers to blow up in 2024. Watch the video and let me know what you think, and share any other designers that I may have missed.

    I went to uni with Dilara and she is EXTREMELY wealthy. She is extremely talented as well, but calling her a "designer on a small budget" is very wrong

      I went to uni with her too! We called her the rich girl. She was nice tho, definitely kept her style & personality in her collections.

    can you do a follow up video on some of the people who made your list in years prior just to talk about how their work has developed since
    talking about who’s interesting in current year is cool, but reevaluating prior years and development is what’s more intriguing for me

    I really appreciate your assistance in expanding my knowledge on Peter Do because he is hands down one of my top three favorite current designers… when I think about playing with mens clothing and tailoring, he’s definitely my primary example bringing it into a unisex world with the silhouettes and cuts he uses

      I was particularly impressed by the three tier primary colors dress - usually those three colors done together don't feel new or read very Snow White, but that one did. Maybe it was the buttons? Maybe the exact color values?

    Large fashion companies are selling more and more clothing. That is why their CO2 emissions are increasing.
    To keep these emissions within limits, the number of clothing items that consumers buy must be reduced. According to a German study, a maximum of five new items of clothing per year fit into a sustainable consumption pattern.
    Dutch consumers are far above that with an average of ten items of clothing per year.
    People with high incomes in particular buy a lot: the 20 percent highest incomes make about 40 percent of fashion purchases, while the 20 percent lowest incomes are responsible for less than 10 percent of purchases.
    Efficiency measures, such as electrifying factories and using better materials, do not deliver enough to achieve the 2030 climate goals.
    But fashion brands and the European Union have few plans to curb clothing consumption. # Follow the Money
    What story do consumers mainly hear about fashion?
    'That it is normal or even desirable to buy a lot of clothes and throw them away in no time. The messages we see about fashion are almost always about new things, about what is in and what is out. Implicitly, it's all about the message that things give us status: by wearing the latest trends, you show that you are successful. For example, the fashion industry encourages people to buy huge amounts of stuff, as if all this has no consequences for the planet.'
    Who is responsible for that message?
    'First of all, the fashion brands. Within those companies it is the marketing and communications departments and the social media teams. But there is also a whole ecosystem around it of people and organizations that spread and strengthen that story: fashion magazines, advertising and marketing agencies, stylists, photographers, videographers, influencers.'

    Hey, totally off topic question but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
    So I designed a shoe, that I believe is incredibly awesome (everyone, who has seen the sketches and the design, was thrilled). So anyway, mass producing a shoe without any connection to the fashion industry is plain impossible. Has anyone heard of the possibility to sell a design to a fashion brand? Is this even a thing, that has happened before and is there a way to go about it? As said, I'm very convinced of the design.

      Contact "American Dutches" they seem to be an approachable shoe company, even if its not what they would do, they might be able to introduce you to another company who can help you.

    • @kah-var
      @kah-var 10 місяців тому

      I would try to at least make a couple samples and style them with brands that you think match the DNA of the shoe. And then market the editorial

    • @macheifach
      @macheifach 10 місяців тому

      @@kah-var Great idea thanks, I totally can see the photoshoot/editorial but it's a lot of work and making even one sample would cost at least a few thousand dollars, since the shoe lasts probably would have to be created first. I wonder, if there are even shoemakers around, who would be willing to create a fully individual shoe including the rather unique shoe lasts.

    Had the chance to talk to Mame Kurogouchi; she was very down to earth, talked very quietly but had a strong degree of assertion. She mentioned that her brand is basically like a watakushi shosetsu(a japanese literature genre that is self-confessive), since everything she does is based on her own experience. Besides from the craftsmanship and cultural side, I thought this feeling of intimacy her collection always delivers is what differentiates her brand from others.

    hi! Great video as always, big fan of your challenge here. so take this as an honest question which I myself don't have a clear definite answer to. Dilara has been exposed over and over again by (ex) co-workers for how toxic and unhealthy the work environments she creates is; without going into details, its incredibly dis-hearting to see such a young creative reinforce all of the ugly stereotypes about the industry and bad it treats its workers and creatives. As incredibly talented as she is and as curious as I am to see her future work as well, I can't really be excited with her or support her vision with a light heart, and honestly rooting for her emotionally feels a bit wrong, or bittersweet at least.
