relistening to this made me release how talented luca is musically. this was from so long ago, if you compare this to his honeymoon cover for example he’s improved to another level, in this cover he’s barely singing. but the way he changed certain lines and words to have a different color, pronunciation, rhythmic style, and tone is captivating. he tweaks his covers enough to show his personal style as well as a style he knows the viewers will appreciate. this is the reason why i believe his covers get so much attention.

It might be because he’s focusing more when speaking Japanese than English and doesn’t have that happy intonation he always has.

might be a little bit late, but wotaku himself pretty frequently on Twitter says that his song weren't supposed to be covered by actual human, like how after his newer song "Ainshu" release he tweeted something along the lines of " I think this song is actually impossible for human to cover."
now given the context, it's just more impressive that as a non-native Japanese speaker, Luca actually managed to cover this sound, let alone making it sound so fitting.
