Love all the videos Joe. Hobby guy also on my own vintage receivers and I'm a retired Florida Firefighter Paramedic. Thank you for your service and the great videos.
@VintageAudioFever Was an awesome job Joe and very team oriented. Bet we have some stories to tell. Lol..I'm 2nd generation FF as dad was a retired FDNY. Your personality and approach in your videos is great. I've learned quite a bit from them too. Great stuff!
Nice work! I'm surprised customers don't want a full recap on such nice vintage equipment. I know some want all original. I recently recapped a 1978 Pioneer RT 707 and boy many caps where way out of spec.
When you do power testing you should use your Fluke multimeter because it is a true RMS meter and that will give you a more accurate measurement. I've seen that every time you used the oscilloscope to read the RMS voltage, the power of the amplifiers always falls short of their rated power.
Hey Alex, I usually do both with the oscilloscope and my Fluke, this time I did but I started doing it, even the fluke is higher than the scope, it's not by much....and I just want people to get the idea of how it can be done....i'm about simplefying repairs, not complicate them...

Some of these repairers sometimes goes ever aboard with the recapping
Interesting, I do have a couple of SONY's. They are integrated amps. The Sony TA-F3A & The Sony TA-2650. Very nice amps and quality from the 1970's. 🙂
