You didn't "read" 37 amps through the drill motor, you read a high voltage drop across the burned white jumper wire. Those jumper wires were not adequate to perform this test.
Yeah, resistance increases in metals w temp, so as that little jumper got hot its resistance went up significantly. However, his probe was not across that jumper that heated but rather the 1' of 10 gauge so he was not reading the V increase due to this. Im sure w high current there was minor heating in this as well so some error would be induced. Since it was a rather short time and the big gauge, im guessing it would be fairly small and insignificant
A few turns of wire with no core will have basically zero L value, unless its EXTREMELY high current AND frequency...even then it would surely be negligible in comparison to the current value being calculated

Duz the inductance in the coil of that shunt cause any problems? If so just winding it back on itself will cancel out any discrepancy

So I must've missed something but what exactly is this point of the clamps if you need to bypass them in ordered to use it?
Just connection purposes, theyre big to handle large current
those little alligator clams will NOT carry the current and will get hot at around 1 amp

You build an inductor i am sure you will get some error
actually if you measure ac current then only it shows the error for dc there is no inductance effect
