Lower notes sometimes can simulated using power chords. My solution was to string and tune my old Ibanez BEAD. 😁 It can even be tuned to a low A.
Yes, it's a good trick to get a 5 string bass with four strings, but I guess a trip with no return. Once you put the five string, you can't place again the fouth
I filed the nut and the saddles to accommodate the fatter strings.
