The only people who'd complain about it are rich people, poor idiots, and the exceptionally blessed who have little to no health needs besides bare necessities (people who dont get sick/never needed prescriptions/dental work/any sort of substance abuse of any kind/any mental divergence from baseline humans). There is no shortage of nurses. There's a shortage of money to pay us. Pretty much every nurse I know that retired after the pandemic, retired because we were constantly short staffed which endangered patient's lives, all to increase profits for the hospital corporations and executives. I'm a nurse, and offered time and time again to come in to work extra, but was turned down because the staffing people said that they were already 'full staffed'. To them, fully staffed is just a number of nurses to the number of patients. They always work hard to lower the severity of the sick patients, so that they can keep the least nurses possible working, to save money. @DenDave_ Рік тому

@@Preciselylate322 you dont have to rework a whole society, just the low hanging fruit will do. If you can give people who are already close to making better lifestyle choices that final nudge they need then that already clears up waiting time for doctors appointments significantly.
An example; 'punish' smoker employees by not letting them smoke while on the clock, and/or reward non-smokers with a similar amount of time off per day. Another option; Enable people who live relatively close to their job to take a bicycle instead of a car. Not just by adding bicycle infrastructure (although that does help a lot), but also by providing a secure bike parking spot, a changing room and shower at the job location, gifting them a bicycle for as long as they use it X amount if times, at the same time demotivate their car usage by not subsidizing travel costs to employees living within a certain radius of the job. Making unhealthy foods and snacks more expensive at school grounds and making healthy ones cheaper.
This stuff aint new or groundbreaking. Its tried and tested in the Netherlands and other European countries and it works brilliantly, especially when multiple (de)motivating factors are combined in a package. And theres a whole lot more other nudges you can give to people on all levels of society, many of which are relatively cheap to enact.

Also get several medical doctorates and degrees so you actually know what youre doing when you make these laws. Go ahead. It's as simple as you say, yes?

As a 4th year medical student, I applaud this action by our Congress. We do NOT need to open up more medical schools, we need to open more residencies, and that’s exactly what they did. If you do not believe me, look at the number of unmatched medical school graduates each year that are unable to obtain a spot simply because there are more students than residency positions. Finally some movement in the right direction! 🙌🏻👏🏻

You’d be surprised medical school is actually really competitive. The problem of this is because there isn’t a lot of medical school spots but a ton of applicants so you need to be a high achiever to get a chance at medical school especially for those higher end schools. I’d personally say that reimbursements need to go up and that more medical school and residency spots open up so this is a good step in the right direction. But to maintain this the reimbursements have to 100% go up and keep up with inflation

    • @KxNOxUTA

Technically yes, but practically the medical field is one of those where any misunderstandings due to language barriers can be especially lethal. So that's one of the fields where extra caution is necessary. If we're talking about people with the qualifications getting other paperwork hurdles lowered, then yes, that may work. Then again ... name a country where there's no lack of health professionals. See the problem? It would be depriving areas that cannot pay that well of the little help they could have.
It is really really not that simple in this specific case. :\

It doesn’t matter how many residency slots there are! Many of those spots will be filled with foreign students who will go back home later. Most of those residents aren’t going to stay in primary care. Even if they complete any primary care residency and pass the associated boards, they will turn corporate, academic or concierge. They might even go on to fellowship and get out of primary care entirely. I am STILL an independent family physician after 26 years. It is hard, but so worth it.
