Baltimore City Trash Skimmer Boat in the Inner Harbor

  • Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
  • The rains on the morning of April 12, 2013 sent a torrent of trash down the Jones Falls and out into Baltimore Harbor. This trash boom collects some of the floating trash until the trash skimmer boats can come by and collect it. If people didn't throw their trash on the ground this entire process would be unnecessary.

    The sad part about this is you can put trash cans on every corner and people will still throw trash on the ground, I've seen it too many times. Pisses you off to see people trash their own city.

      Would help if the bastards emptied the bins more than once a day, especially when they KNOW the bins get full after 10 minutes. So people trying to do the right thing has nowhere to put their rubbish.

    The boom collection is great.....the boat is rubbish! What a long winded process, just funnel out the boom straight into the mouth of the boat keeping the travelator thing going, why trying to grab the rubbish, doesn't make sense!

    Obviously not perfect but better than not doing it. The people associated with this should be commended. And the rest of us should stop littering.

      The Jersey J if this concept could be improved and made to be the size of oil tankers then it might put a dent in that island of trash in the pacific

    • @someotherdude
      @someotherdude 5 років тому +4

      Why do you refuse to put blame where it belongs? I don't litter- ever- I travel my neighborhood and pick litter up. I do see ghetto people tossing litter from their cars and as they walk out of stores. I have never seen an educated-looking person do it in a nice town. The refusal to negatively judge ghetto people/poor whites for littering is literally what is allowing them to do it. They can hide behind the nonsense that PC people spew. When I see a 'thug' person littering, I don't dare ask them not to. To do so would risk a dangerous confrontation. Ghetto people/poor whites have thus become completely bold and shameless about it. No effort to hide what they are doing at all. They know people who consciously control their public conduct won't confront and they know they are afraid- they will wind up on the ground, knocked out, no matter how gently and nicely they ask people not to litter. My tiny 84 year old mother asked a man at a traffic light to pick up a bunch of garbage he threw- and she wound up fearing for her life.

    My country has a neat way of dealing with trash.They stop people from throwing trash by first making them pay for it.No free plastic bags in stores,you buy something you gotta buy the bag too or use the one you bought before because the bag costs 1$.And people won't throw it away every time.Also plastic bottles and thin cans together with glass bottles can be returned and you get money for each bottle.Of course every drink you buy costs 50 cents more and if you want those back you gotta return the empty bottle.So if they threw any of these things it would basically mean they are throwing their money.Even if there are people who throw bottles away homeless people would pick them up and sell them to make some money.As a result we have the cleanest drinking water in the world and crystal clean rivers and lakes.Even drainage canals dont have garbage in them.Until you do this you will have a problem with plastic,just make the people pay for it.I guarantee they won't throw it away

    Hopelessly inefficient. Garbage bin needs to be separate floating pod tied in back, 100x larger. The vessel needs to travel on a path parallel to the float line. But at least the USA occasionally tries to pick up in it's 3rd world areas.

      You should watch other videos of the same machine, most in Asian waters also removing invasive water plants more efficiently than this way. This is a good example in which the booms should be attached to the opening and they can just sit there and run the conveyor picking up the garbage as the natural river flow is pushing by itself into the center.
