definitely one of those scenes in Revenge Of The Sith Obi-Wan vs Anakin, always an emotional one still to my heart "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE! YOU WERE SENT TO DESTROY THE SITH, NOT JOIN THEM! BRING BALANCE TO THE FORCE, Not leave it in Darkness"
@@PotatoKernels yup.if a force sensitive child is identified the Jeds should spring to bring that Force-sensitive kid's parents along. They can help that kid stay good and not fall to the Dark side.
It's actually refreshing to see someone praise The Rise of Skywalker, makes me feel better about the fact that I actually enjoy the movie in despite of its flaws.
I love your analysis of the saga through these scenes. It kind of felt overtly analytical at times, but I love how you find symbolism that makes sense. Inspirational and profound.
Man you made those 3 crucial scenes even better than they already where! Yes rise of skywalker wasn’t as good but it’s the only one I could see in theatres (since I’m only 13) And boy that fight scene was definitely the bright side of that movie!🔥 Amazing video man you made my day!
Hey Ryan I just wanna tell you that your half right about Luke not supposed to being there. Yeah he himself did nothing in his friends escaping Cloud City, but Luke coming to Cloud City did help in his friends escaping because Luke had R2-D2 with him and R2 was able to open doors for Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C3PO and Lando to make it to the Millennium Falcon. Also Lando thought his people fixed the jump to light speed button, but as you know they actually disabled it and it was R2-D2 who undid the disabled and fixed the jump to light speed. Other than that, this was amazing essay 👍. It’s video’s like this is why I watched your channel. Keep up the good work
There is a high probability that he did. Read Cambell's works. The idea of using water as a purifying element is so common in literature that it made sense for the final part of the triology. I. desert, water, fire (tatoine, kamino, mustifar). II. tattoine, hoth, jungle-heat) III. jaku, salt planet, water/caves... There is a clear pattern used in the triology that was pretty consistent both from a metaphorical and design point of view.
@@Grigsy That doesn't necessarily mean that he did it intentionally, its equally likely that he laid out the broad strokes and that some of the details were done by, or at least with, other people.
i think there should be a 4th figth in this vídeo, the one with Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul, its literãlly called Dual of the fates, and its this figth that shapes the whole star wars universe cause if Qui-Gon had won, Anakin would have a a father figure that he never had that could teach and show him the ways of the force, without holding information. Dave Finoli says something on these lines in some interviews
May the 4th be with you, Ryan! What do you think about the Duel of the fates and the interpretation that Dave Filoni gave to it? That duel sets up all of the Skywalker saga, one could argue that it's the most important duel of them all.
That’s a very well reasoned essay, has really put those scenes in a new light. Put the way you have it is very hard not to see the symbolism as absolutely deliberate. Great work.
I would argue that Maul vs Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan is the most crucial, if Maul doesn't defeat Qui-Gon, then Qui-Gon trains Anakin and becomes the father figure Anakin needs, and Obi-Wan becomes the older brother that challenges and looks out for him when Qui-Gon can't, so Anakin learns to process his emotions in a healthy way and never falls to Palpatine's manipulations and never rises to power
Couple things about the first Fight. Obi one as a Padawan learned a defensive forum of dueling an practiced it for 12 hours a day ( the novel I read ) plus the sword choreography was made so that most of the Jedi had their own style and that was Obi-Wan's if you look at all three of those movies he favored defensive Forum over offensive where is Anakin was an offensive fighter so Obi one being the tactician and having more patience as you said using The High Ground knowing that Anakin was going to LEAP right into fight more I remember my friend used to say Anakin was so much better of a fighter because he was aggressive and I was like yeah but Obi one is blocking everything effortlessly just waiting for the right opportunity to strike plus that way he didn't overexert himself
With as much honesty and respect as I can muster, thank you for that. While ALL the other Star Wars movies are my joint favourite, Rise of Skywalker is one I am still journeying with. I really appreciate someone taking the time to highlight important aspects of the story to strengthen the meaning of the movie, as well as the overall tale. Very insightful. I like how you can appreciate the Rise of Skywalker for at least one thing. I enjoyed the new trilogy more the Prequels tbh, but the OG’s will always be on top.
Wow, this is an amazing analysis, human. If I may ask, do these insights arise "organically", or is there a shot by shot (by frame) analysis you use that points in their direction?
That’s the beautiful thing about symbolism: anything can mean whatever you want it too, so you’ll never find a problem with a story’s symbolism if you don’t want to. Good unraveling, but there’s always a deeper explanation.
I love how Obi wan kicks Anakin's legs out not once but twice during that fight. Anakin kinda flops back and resumes his attack like he didn't just get punked out lmao.

If Luke hadn’t gone to Cloud City, R2-D2 wouldn’t’ve been there to fix the Falcon’s hyperdrive which had been sabotaged by Imperial Agents on Cloud City. His friends would’ve either died for what they believe in like Yoda had coldly suggested he let happen (more or less the same bad advice he’d given to Anakin twenty years prior). And at the very least they would’ve been captured and tortured by the Empire. Though the later seems less likely since it’s established that the only reason Han was tortured was to bait Luke... “They didn’t even ask me any questions...”
