  • I did a similar video last year dealing with cords where you can tell which wire from the outside is “hot” vs “neutral” just by how it looks.
    Well I’ve received so many comments (much appreciated) dealing with cords where you can’t tell which wires goes where just by looking at the outside. Specifically Vacuum cords where the cord is rounded.
    So this video is all about identifying which wire goes where on a cord that is rounded, or any cord in general where you can’t tell whats on the inside from the outside.
    Huge thanks to all for the people out there that made this happen! You made this happen, and I’m happy and grateful to give back to my community based off what I read in the comments. I see what you all want :)
    Enjoy! 😎

My husband was an electrician and new how to fix anything but unfortunately he passed on so I guess I’m on my own or at least I thought I was..thank you again cuz I can’t afford another shop vac at this time.

    My dog chewed the middle of the wire. I was hoping to find out how to replace the entire cord so I don't have a short cord on my rug scrubber

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser

      Heidi! Thank you so much for the comment and I totally get what’s happening. So my dog did the same thing. What I did was just cut the bitten part out, stripped back the wires and matched the colors up when I put them back together. I only lost about 8 inches in total length. I do have a video in this same section that kind of explains that. It’s about fixing a coffee grinder, but has what you need to fix that problem. Now if the cord is completely gone, you can always buy a replacement cord from a big big box store or Amazon. Then you can splice it together with the existing cord, just by cutting your original cord near the rug scrubber and then splicing in the new cord. (Same video I talked about before will help you with this). Yea it won’t look great, but it’ll work again. Just make sure you eg a cord that has the 2 prongs or 3 prongs, depending on what your cord currently has. I really hope this helped. Reach out if you need something else. Thanks again!

    How about repairing the cord in the middle? Don’t need a new plug….just splicing!

      Hey Angel! Super appreciate the comment and support. And yes that’s easy, it did a video on that where I repaired a coffee grinder using environmental splices. Splicing is very easy :)

    My tv cord is white and blue, should blue replace the black in this case? I am just making sure

      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser  6 місяців тому

      Hey Michael! Thanks for the question and support my friend. As for answering your question, yep, that’s what I would do in this case. Especially since it sounds like your original plug had 2 prongs that are the same size vs one where ones larger and the other smaller. I hope this helps! Good luck!

    I thought you were going to show how to replace the entire cord. My dog chewed all the way up the cord on my carpet shampooer. Can you show how to replace the entire cord?

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser  Рік тому

      Hey Canary Black! I’m sorry about that. Your dog most of been one hungry pup! Hope he’s ok :) My apologies for not showing how to replace the entire cord. I could do a video on that but there’s one problem. There are so many different vacuum configurations out there so it would be difficult replicating which one you have. I do know that this job can be easy. You can buy replacement cords from your big box stores or Amazon. The only hard part is knowing how to disassemble your vacuum where the cord comes in exposing the connection. If you know how to expose the connection then replacing the cord is a snap. I’m sorry I can’t help you with that. I really wish I could and like I said, I thought of doing a video with the whole cord replacement, but it would just be so hard. I hope you do attempt to fix it though. You have nothing to lose… it’s already broken, so try and carefully open it up where the cord goes into it. Determine if you have 2 or 3 wires to connect, take a picture of the existing connection, remove, find a replacement cord and then slap it in. Boom done. Keep me updated if you can. I know you can fix this and save yourself some money. 😎 Thanks again for the comment and I hope you have a really fantastic day!
