These roundups are basically full length review movies at this point, I love it!

Going to get the Kopy and Jlin albums. Maybe Vorso. This channel is such a valuable resource for me to find new stuff. Thank you.

Between Gesaffelstein's Mania and Justice's remix of their own track Afterimage, we're in the right climate for prime gabber revival

Appreciate the effort you do for these round ups as always. Happy to hear you were cool with the Anthony Naples! Though I agree the songs can blend into one another, but it is extremely pretty and peaceful when it’s on ^^

I audibly laughed during your rants of Yan Wagner and especially The Urge, the moment you mentioned the sexual lyrics I just knew there would be an ace mention and yet it still made me laugh!
Didn’t even realise Pet Shop Boys and Katia Krow released albums, although it’s a lot more telling in the former and honestly given your lukewarm reception and me not liking their last album, probably gonna skip this!
Great video for sure as always my man!

Thank you for the review on my record!!! Means a lot, this does - you're my favorite electronic reviewer on youtube. Appreciate the honest and lovely words.
And for the record, the first 10 seconds on the album are me whisking matcha tea, not someone brushing their teeth... although literally everyone I've spoken to thinks that 😂😅

LMAO, that Petshopboys review ... exemplar diplomatic; we in this house after the first listen share your felling, if put not so eloquently as yourself - meh. Oh, awesome round-up!

Legowelt doesn't only showcase sweaty nerd vocals. "Vamparch" is kinda catchy, check it out :)

36 seems to alternate between fairly straight-up 36 sounding albums - very pretty but not stylistically original - and bolder projects. Cold Ecstasy (incorporates rave and hardcore elements), Void Dance (more rhythm-oriented), Dream Tempest (his most emotionally varied, from almost jazzily breezy to really quite devastating) and Hypersona (his probably untopped debut) would be my recommendations of good places to start. He can really go for the emotional gut punch when he wants (Always and The Grace of the Nameless come to mind), although I kind of wish he would slow down his release rate as it does sometimes get a bit samey.

Apparently the alblum cover of ecysis and the artwork of orchid skin are images of the innerworking of skin yeah that actually looks cool

There's a new album by the longtime ambient techno artist Pub next week, I've been listening to his early stuff recently and it's fantastic, just wanted to shout it out.

Funny enough, I had already listened to some of that Holonomy album by Vorso about a month ago. I didn't listen to the whole thing, only maybe 30 minutes of it. It was kinda cool and interesting, but also a bit confusing and overwhelming for me

idk, I didn't think there was enough discussion material there to merit a whole new video dedicated to it? as much bonus material as there is, the majority is just live versions and remixes, and there was only one B-side included there which I hadn't heard before (The Other One)
I mean, if people want me to just straight-up re-review the Green Album and discuss the bonus material in that context, I wouldn't be against the idea (what with my old review being from 7 years ago and my feeling like I could write, structure and present it a lot better if I did it nowadays), but I wasn't actively planning on it as I wouldn't really be saying anything new I haven't already said

I had a feeling GAMMA would appear in this roundup. My introduction to Gesa was the same as yours, actually. Though, I had heard about him prior to listening to Conquistor. I think he's a really cool artist and I've enjoyed most of his work quite a bit. I've actually seen a lot of mixed reactions to GAMMA. I've had fun listening to it but my biggest compliant with the project is that it feels a little too short. It would've been nice if it at least broke the 30 min barrier and a few cuts definitely could have been longer. Maybe one more instrumental could've been added to balance out the vocal tracks too. I had a good laugh hearing you rant about Yan Wagner's vocals. I did not like his appearance on "Lost Love" (that track is easily the worst on the album imo) but I'm fine with his vocals otherwise. I wouldn't call the album great but I do think it's very good. The stretch from "Hard Dreams" to "The Urge" is my favorite part. By the way, I noticed you did not mention the track "Psycho". Did you have any thoughts on that one or did you omit it because you had nothing to say about it?

    • @TheWonkyAngle
      @TheWonkyAngle  5 місяців тому

...well, if the fact that I didn't remember "Psycho" at all until you mentioned it is any indication, I think I didn't bring it up because I had nothing to say about it

tbh I usually don't think to include Patricia Taxxon in these roundups since I know once she releases something that gives me more to say I'll be dedicating time in the intro of my next video on her talking about the projects she put out in between

Kinda crazy how you missed Holonomy, which is def one of the best albums of 2023. Also there are a few albums you're missing out on like ISOxo - kidsgonemad!, Lamorn - Forever (my fav of the year by far) and INHUMAN - ARRIVAL
