I used to think this mattered a lot, but i always add good tweeters and a sub, so the difference seems nominal and it just becomes filler by my feet. Ive got soundstream 6.5 components

The Crunch had more depth on my Pioneer DJ powered speakers. Unpopular opinion I'm sure. My right speakers sounded better than the left, on most of the test tracks...

I wouldn't say unpopular just different taste. With Speakers the sound is just like beauty. It's in the ears of the listener. Different people like different sounds and different music. There really is no wrong or right answer. Appreciate the feedback 🍻

D4S has a cleaner brighter sound with punchy bass. I can't knock the Crunch, they sound damn good for some cheap coaxials from a low level brand. They were just as loud with a more warmer sound and bass response. I would puck the D4S speaker over the Crunch because with some amplification and tuning they'll probably really shine in SQ. Whereas the Crunch will probably improve as well but there not as clean sounding and thats what I look for in speakers, not just loudness and bass.

This is a very good summary of my thoughts as we'll. I think the crunch will be good for the avg person that just slaps them in and turns them up but the D4S will be better with some tuning so they are more fitted towards the audiophile type person.

I may do that at some point. Unfortunately I've put a hold making these videos because my normal test bench space is being occupied. Hopefully soon I can get back to it.

OK so to me, using Earfun Air2's I want to say they are, they sound goodish. But to my ear using these the DFS sounded brassy, or tinny if that is something your hip to. Basically they seemed to be a little more harsh on the high end, and definitely punchier. The type of mids and highs you want if you like riding around with the windows down subjecting the masses to your well developed, highly cultured, musical whimsey. The Crunch sounded to maybe be a bit more musical perhaps? Which to me at least means that it would likely be easier on the ears. More pleasant to listen to for extended periods. No particular notes are likely to be exaggerated. Built in an attempt at being true to the music. Mind you dear reader that I have no freakin clue what the "true" music here is actually supposed to sound like now... but if ya would just ignore that if you could be so kind. If anyone's interested on my expert opinion regarding other videos on here and dealing with absolutely any of my other topics of experteese, well I'd be more than happy to twist whatever it is that you may so choose every bit as accurately as I just did for you here. Me being who I am, in the particular position that I find myself possessing in the many and varied fields that I so capably field. Of course giving back is something I'm no stranger to. I had a roommate in college that did it twice. My opinion on these things should assure you that you will be reading nothing but the utmost least that I can possibly offer you. I can gaurantee the insertion of at least seven words of a medium length. Suggesting to you that you are now cultured and possiblty even esteemed. I will speak with authority while I merrily commense to swaying peoples feelings and dollars over to something of my choosing at my learned insistence. JUST NAME IT! Then wait right here and I'll be right back to do it immidiately. If not sooner.

That may be the case. I have about 50w feeding them. It's tough to decide how to run these tests so I just decided to test all speakers with similar power. For some of these 50 Watts is pretty much all they can handle. The D4S for sure could take more power.

    completely different
    Scooped vs balanced…
And unlike 99% of the ppl that’ll see this video and listen to this with just some random headphones I listened to this is a near perfect acoustic environment on 18k worth of high end studio monitors.
    They aren’t even close.
Granted I have 2 sets of dynaudio 3 ways in my car on 1800watts fully active with audio control dsp but the crunch, my old stock sounds better.
Hyped lows, scooped mids, recessed upper mids, lifeless highs… definitely that similar horrible old Bose sound

    • @T_B_C_L
      @T_B_C_L  Рік тому +2

You are definitely an audiophile and not your typical listener. Most wouldn't even understand what active or dsp even mean. This is exactly why bose has been so popular amongst the masses for years. This is also why those terrible sounding beats headphones would sell for $500 a piece. I really appreciate the perspective from someone who really understands sound and how the musician intended it to be delivered. 🍻

@@T_B_C_L I’m an engineer… I can’t help but to hear music and audio sources subjectively. I hear things different and now that I’ve moved from mixing everyday to mastering more I can easily hear things much more subjectively.
I’m not an audiophile per say, one of my vehicles has 15k rms in it😂 but far more subjective than others
I think for your playback you should try to use some traps to better help the room you’re in and it’ll allow better overall playback for you and your listeners.
Your video popped up as I happened to search for the D4S speakers i was considering.
2 sets of d4s jfx653s in my daily(scat pack charger) but of course with dsp over the passive crossover but I’m not spending a ton of money on this build.
      2 pair of 3 way d4s components
      1 jp234
      1 jp84
      Then for the lows
      1 avatar 1246 on a jp33
should work out just fine and look great since I plan to reverse mount everything with leds in the trunk

@@hybridstudios39 I like you're" not spending a ton of money on this ".. 😂 🤣. In all seriousness though, sounds like you have some very nice stuff. Johnathan puts out some pretty decent equipment, especially for the money. Honestly with a nice dsp and a spectrum analyzer to tune you can make almost any equipment sound good. I just put these videos out for fun. Obviously youtube compression is lousy and I'm far from a sound expert, but if it helps someone and brings a bit of enjoyment, well it's all worth it. Good luck with your next build 🍻

My truck has nothing but dc audio stuff in it.. 4 level 5 15s on 2 9ks
10 8s, 8 super tweeters, 6 horns on 4500watts worth of dc amps… not spending that kind of money on a stereo system. Granted this daily build isn’t exactly budget per say for many and I’m not trying to act like it’s not gonna bust my credit cards open, I’m not rich by any means
You have your head on your shoulders, keep up your work and interactions like this and I hope to see you grow. Not enough ppl doing budget friendly stuff vs just saying get sundown lol. There are plenty of budget friendly options that actually sound really good. Silver flutes for example, $45 each, mics that can dig into the low 30s and smooth to 3k, add a tweeter of your choice and crossover or dsp. Great sounding component set and I mean great!
Hell I have a pair a Tyler acoustics d2x’s in the mastering room with custom made amps, last year used they were like 3800 shipped. Well guess what, they have Dayton audio drivers in them minus the seas tweeters…those are $55-60 on parts express! And powered correctly in the right enclosure with the right tweeters, pristine sound. You pay more for his experience and woodworking than the actual drivers… so I fully support quality budget gear
Check out the h yanka stuff for a budget speaker to a/b
A friend got them and too bright for my taste but that’s what eq and dsp is for

I hope this is not another one of these right Channel versus Left Channel bias testing as very few people understand the left channel is not the same as the right channel audio output!
so if you're trying to test speakers & one speaker is on the Left Channel and the other speaker is on the right channel you're not getting the same audio Spectrum due to the fact that sound recording Engineers PAN certain instruments on one channel versus the other channel, usually bass guitars in the Left Channel, drums&cymbals on the right Channel with vocals centered with other instruments varying according to various requirements so once again the right channel is not the same as the Left Channel!!
you must use a mono Channel applied to both speakers for non-biased testing.. .

    • @T_B_C_L
      @T_B_C_L  6 місяців тому +1

All my testing was done in bridged mono when I added an amplifier. Only the tests that I did from a stock radio power were done in stereo, and I only did a couple of those. This is irrelevant in my current setup as I have both left and right channels of each speaker giving the full spectrum of output. All channels are balanced using a Volt ohm meter testing ac output at the volumes I use. My setup is not perfect as I'm just a regular guy in his spare bedroom testing speakers. All my videos are ment to just give an idea of the sound output of each brand and not be scientific. Honestly my biggest issue has always been mic placement.
