  • Here is a great and straightforward, eminently useable minor two five progression that uses the “borrowing” concept beautifully. Some traditionalists may refer to this as “suspensions” this means exactly the same thing.

ALL these moves so intriguing to the ear. When you played "Barry's Intro," SO beautiful. I will REplay that and
I wish you would show it again, slower ! As well as play the bridge too, please. You demonstrate well some of the things we hear Barry Harris do on this...much thanks for your generosity of sharing so much, so often
    in this and other videos.

Hi Isaac thanks for the tutorial. Do you also teach full songs or is it just some parts of songs? Cheers

How do you do to ·move· with harry barris chords when you have the prhygyan mode?

Barry used to say “I never played a mode in my life“ which is of course incorrect - of course he played modes, but he just never called them by their proper names. All the Phrygian mode is is a displacement of the major scale on its third. So, logically you would apply any of his ideas such as six diminished etc. as though you were playing from the third degree of the major.

Thats a great thing not to be bogged down with all these extra thoughts to pair down all that.
