The Royal Marines are playing in such awesome unison that it sounds like only one bugle! Interesting to see that one is the State Trumpeters is a woman and so is one of the Royal Buglers! The resonance of the empty chapel is beautiful!
Why amazng to see two are women? Women have played a part in our Armed Forces for over 100 years and rightly take their place in all roles in our military, including now the Infantry. I'm ex RAF through and through, but the Royal Marine bands are the best around and contain quite a few women.
Yes, the Army are fantastic. Royal Marines are not "Army" though! They are the Royal Navy's soldiers. Historically, members of the Royal Navy [until recently] had no requirement to swear the Oath of Allegiance to the monarch. The Royal Navy is not maintained under an Act of Parliament but by royal prerogative. This still applies for naval officers as, by nature of the Navy's authority deriving from the Crown and not Parliament, the loyalty of naval officers to the Sovereign is taken for granted. This does not apply to the Army and Royal Air Force. In the modern era - the royal prerogative, a.k.a. 'crown prerogative', assigns certain powers, rights, privileges, and immunities to the monarch or Crown which are today mostly exercised on the advice of government ministers. Nominally, the Navy answer to the Monarch, not Parliament.
@@michaelbastin9851 I imagine these guys will have trained this to perfection. Being watched around the country and world at that moment......you would NOT want to be the one to get it wrong aha!
I cry when I hear it on Remembrance Sunday, it hit Come and See’s Floyra hard this year because we were at war with Woody recently and Florya played The Last post when the war ended in tribute to the civilians he couldn’t save. The emotions in him were nothing like I ever seen before in my life until now
@@AntPDC - hello AntPDC - all is well thank you. I hope it’s the same with you. Thank you for posting the Royal Marines and the State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry on the occasion of the funeral. Always moving and uplifting. If you haven’t already done so, would you be so kind as to post the Flowers of the Forest - that lad from Braemar did a magnificent rendition.

I'm not a huge follower of military bands and things like this but I was just wondering when "The Last Post" is being played, if there was a reason the trumpeter on the left end would kind of turn a little to the left after a few notes.
AntPDC. - HRH Prince Philip’s Funeral Royal Marines & The State Trumpeters. - There’s one thing we the English get right is to do everything to perfection in an event such as HRH Prince Philip’s Funeral. . It was done to precision and this is what our cavalry do best. I watched with fixed eyes 👀 and was amazed at how they stood for so long without even moving their heads or bodies. They should be congratulated on being so immaculate.. The Trumpeters of The Royal Household stood with dignity and played every tune from their hearts ♥️. It was an honour to watch the ceremony go through it’s paces and every man/woman playing were so engrossed in giving a magnificent performance for all of us in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 and for the rest of the world 🌎 to see. Truly Magnificent !!!... . I couldn’t be more proud to be English on occasions such as State events. Thank You Anthony , for reminding me of a very sad but splendid day.
I cried when the First World War Armstice turned 100 in 2018 and my school held a festival of remembrance party but it wasn’t as good as the Festival of Remembrance in London though
I might be biased but I think musically, Taps is more aesthetically beautiful to hear than the Last Post, probably because Taps feels more emotional. Nevertheless, this was a fine performance.
Taps is a very emotional set. But the last post was never meant to be for funerals. It was the bugle call for the soldiers to muster at the end of battle to take count.
Goosebumps every time. What i would have give to be standing in that Hall
True to form they stole the show, just as the old man probably knew they would!
May he rest in peace. God bless his soul. And thank you for everything you have done for the country Your Royal Highness 🙏
lol
Carly Simon nailed it when she said " Nobody Does It Better " . 100% Proud to be Born And Bred British 👍😍😍

Best version of the last post I’ve heard 🇬🇧
Anyone who had buglers, playing Action Stations, at their funeral was a "BOSS"!
Absolutely wonderful and he chose it all. I can't watch, all I do is weep. Terribly sad.
Rust zacht Prince Philip, Duke of Edingburg!!!! We love you for all you have done for the people and your beloved family!!!!!!
Nobody does this like the Brits, 1000 years of tradition.
Our military always do the best..same melody but a little faster
The Brits or English are a lot older than 1000 years.
Britain at its best,
Really took my breath away. Loved the perfection.❤️
Heart touching solemnity.
This and the Bagpipes was the best part of the funeral. Hands down.
Fair winds and following seas Your Royal Highness. We have the Watch.
Beautiful said ❤️🌈👑
Very proud of all of the fantastic work the army do. Thank you all

It is to show when to end the notes so they all start and stop each section of the tune at the same time.
Thank you Simon. I'm wondering why the State Trumpeters don't do the same.

It is to signal the end of a passage of music, much as a conductor pauses an orchestra.

Every time I hear this is sit at attention ex army
Why does the marine furthest to the left twist
It is a timing signal to his fellows.
The Reveille reminds us of the General Resurrection in the consummation Of the World.
What it's all about RULE BRITANIA
Why did that sergeant half-turn every few seconds?
Timing for his fellow buglers.

Who is buried in the 2 marble tombs on either side of the knave?
King George V and Queen Mary and Princess Charlotte, daughter of King George IV.

The first to play were the Royal Marines. Second were the state trumpeters of the Household Cavalry
