as an owner of a Toyota MR2 (1998) as my first car. There are certain things that i can attest too as well. Panel rust is an issue i really dealt with over the years. But driving wise, it entirely depends on the driver to actually be able to bring out the full potential of the car in corners. One advise i can give to new Toyota MR2 owners out there, if you ever feel like the back end of the car is slowly sliding out. NEVER LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. it will only make things worse. instead slowly apply the gas and shift to a lower gear.then use the handbrake. Its better to have a worn out parts than to have a car that is totaled even worse having the driver dead. Also 2-3 degrees of negative camber to the rear wheels will help with some grip.
Funny Fact, my first car was a 91 MR2 Turbo I knew nothing about it's reputation for snap oversteer. I never experienced any form of snap oversteer with it but I will say it was the JDM version cause I was serving in Japan while in the Air Force back in 2004.
Snap oversteer should only be a real issue if you either are in a track pushing the car pretty hard or if you are being overly stupid on the street, just pushing the car a little to have fun with good condition tyres and on nice dry roads just won't be a problem
Good list. I think it's cool you're trying to point newer drivers in the right direction. My first car was an FC RX-7 and I knew nothing about working on cars then but because of the car's short comings learned a lot. My 2nd... an RX-8. I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited, and it's my first car. The engine and transmission has been replaced in 2019/2020. 285 HP RWD with a high center of gravity is not a good combination, especially in a state like Florida (where I live) where it rains a lot. The amount of times that I've spun out in the rain is absolutely unreal. It's a car that isn't meant for pavement roads, but for off-roading. The car is just a nightmare 24/7. The one good thing about it is that if you were to ever crash, you will be completely okay. The thing is a block of metal on wheels.
The Mk1 MR2 does not have problems with snap oversteer as people exaggerate. It is actually really difficult to force it to snap oversteer and acts somewhat like any other rwd car. Obviously it still has other mid engine pro's and cons.
Yep, the mr2 doesn't have some ridiculous rear bias to make it hard to drive, it's pretty well balanced so unless you are pushing it it should be like any other car, though if you really load the trunk that could also contribute to add a significant rear bias wich is a non issue on the mrs since it doesn't even have a trunk

I'm 20 years old, and last year, I got my first income tax return check; so I bought my first car with it. I bought a 2016 mitsubishi lancer, it's the refreshed model that has the daytime running lights with a rounder front bumper of the same color of the car. I really like it tbh, even though it's not the evo. To me, it looks killer. I feel proud of myself when I'm walking up to the car to take it for a ride. I've been wanting to do performance upgrades to it, but I don't know much about that; I still have to further educate myself on engines (specifically my engine) to see what's best for the car. I want to make it look like the Evo x, without it being as slow as a mid-trim stock lancer. What are you guys' thoughts? Should I do performance upgrades to it, and should I make it look like the Evo? I don't care at all about people giving me shit about it not being an Evo, I just want to enjoy a good looking car that's a little fast. If y'all know anything about lancers please reply to my comment with some advice! Thank you! (Y'all can also talk shit and what not, I'm nterested in hearing what the community has to say) @Mark Roden if you know about lancers, could you share some of your thoughts too? I love your vids by the way, keep up the good work man!
350 z and G35 will take time to get use to . The clutch is hard and shifting isnt smooth 3rd, reverse are hard to get to at times randomly. Learn to drive em in empty parking lot even if you know how to drive stick. Learn how to handle the power . Dont get a 350z or g35 if you dont have time to work on them or dont know mechanical stuff because labor is like 150/hr . Change you oil every 3k full synthetic
I mean his main reason was just you might get messed with by cops more so I'd say as long as your car isn't loud or flashy you'll be fine. If someone didn't know their cars it would probably just look like any other car to them
Stay away from subaru, horrible engines, oil leaks, failed ringlands, head gasket issues, bad cvt's. Worst Japanese car out there. Go with mazda,, much nicer all around, fit, finish, interiors, engine, and trannys. If you can afford to, buy honda toyota, lexus, or acura.
Yes I would but depends on how the previous owner has taken care of it and never try to push boost out of an N/A subie motor, that’s when head gaskets go bye bye
I agree with the mustang gt. Dont get one! get the cobra / shelby. on a real note not my first car but i did spin out in my cobra on a turn going slow cause it was 47F out and rainy. Who knew summer high performance tires suck in the cold and wet
i want mine to be an bmw e 36 320i cabrio just like my parents had or a opel corsa b just because you can get a runing and driving one for under 1000 €
Lets go my genesis coupe is not on the list! (But i will warm owners don’t use cheap oil and always remember the car comes stock with a oil temp gauge for a reason let that shi hit 75*C before thrashing on it unless you want a new turbo)
As much as I like the Mustangs the prices are too suspiciously low in my area. Maybe it's just luck but...how are prices THAT low not questionable to some extent...

We had crappy cars from the 90's to buy.
Anything after 2000 was too expensive for us.
There was some cool cars we could own.
300z, but you had to play hell working on it.
Ford mustang foxbody, probably the best choice then.
The 4th gen camaros were getting affordable, but not the LS1 version.
The one I wish I got was a mitsubishi 3000 gt VR-4. Those were stupid cheap then.
The fact they can get a S197 for cheap blows me away. Those were well over $10k when I was 16.
@@Soundsofthewood i got insurance for around $70 usd a month on a 1999 celica ss2, at that was at 16 on a learners license. not in the us though
@@arcanevoid9199 the US plays a racket with insurance.
You pay alot to them and they hid like hell when needed.
I would better off not having insurance. I only have it because of the law.
Hahaha however this was a banger of a video 🔥
Correction gt350s and 500’s are amazing track cars, Im mostly talking about s550 platform they outshine their competitors like no other
Well on most tracks that both the ZL1 1LE and GT500 lapped, the ZL1 does have the better lap times but I do agree they are very track oriented
I’m subbing just cuz the music
WRX also far too expensive and if you find one that is affordable its gonna be very unreliable since it will have very high miles and most of them were prob driven hard
This is true as well
nissan versa owner here. 1000% can confirm. i beat the hell out this car & it still wont die.
Thank you! (Y'all can also talk shit and what not, I'm nterested in hearing what the community has to say)
@Mark Roden if you know about lancers, could you share some of your thoughts too? I love your vids by the way, keep up the good work man!

I literally just bought an rx8 for my first car
Finna pick my next project car from this list
My first and actual car is a toyota tercel 1997 an man I have to say, is one of the bests cars you can get, cheap and reliable👌
My poor wrecked g37’s🥲
Yeah it’s a sad time
Would you consider the base models of a Subaru a good first car. Like an earlier model of an Impreza sedan without the WRX
Me who bought a 1987 nissan Sunny GTI as a first car:
"Chuckles* I'm in danger
I agree with the mustang gt. Dont get one! get the cobra / shelby. on a real note not my first car but i did spin out in my cobra on a turn going slow cause it was 47F out and rainy. Who knew summer high performance tires suck in the cold and wet
What was going to be said at 5:05 because I was quite interested? I'm guessing it was just an editing error but I was curious the rest of that
my boi with the skyrim music. its not loud but its there
Wondering question can you swap an automatic transmission to manual in 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX?
the challenger was cut in the video if you can reupload then that would be great
best first car is a toyota solara v6
all the coupe and power that a teenager needs
but also all the sedan, reliability, and safety that a person needs
Do you recommend stock Subaru Impreza Blob/bug
Yessir
Dude is that Skyrim ambient music in the background ? XD im pretty sure
Nobody gonna talk about how he has Skyrim music in the background?
Would u say a gen coupe is a good first car?
i will buy a late 90's civic. is it good? you know they are cheap af
LETTTTTSSS GOOOO 1:14
Imma still get an MR2 tho. I'm too committed at this point😭
MR2 as a 2nd car is perfect.
i want mine to be an bmw e 36 320i cabrio just like my parents had or a opel corsa b just because you can get a runing and driving one for under 1000 €
well I'm stuck between a 86 or a 5th gen v6 camaro for my first car
"Now your under a swamp and drowning"💀
Maybe its fun to have a list of cars that have high horsepower for cheap, like a audi TT or smtn.
Lets go my genesis coupe is not on the list! (But i will warm owners don’t use cheap oil and always remember the car comes stock with a oil temp gauge for a reason let that shi hit 75*C before thrashing on it unless you want a new turbo)
Be honest: when do you think we're going to see the majority of the cars on the streets be electric? Also, love ur content
Like 25 years? 😂 it’s gonna be awhile
As much as I like the Mustangs the prices are too suspiciously low in my area. Maybe it's just luck but...how are prices THAT low not questionable to some extent...
Guys what about the altezza for the first car to drive ?
How would u rate a Genesis coupe for a first car?
