  • This is a walking tour in Lovran, Croatia going alongside the seaside promenade and the small Old Town. I didn't plan to go to Lovran but I saw that It was close to Opatija and decided to do a day trip there and it did not disappoint, I do plan to return and explore more of the area. It has one of the best seaside promenades and a small but charming Old Town with plenty of narrow streets.
Lovran is a beautiful town located on the eastern coast of the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia. It is situated at the foot of the Učka mountain range and overlooks the Adriatic Sea. With its rich history, stunning natural surroundings, and charming old town, Lovran is a popular tourist destination.
One of the notable features of Lovran is its historic core, which is characterized by narrow, winding streets and medieval architecture. The town's main square, Trg Svetog Jurja (St. George's Square), is a focal point with its lovely 18th-century baroque church and a picturesque stone fountain. Strolling through the old town, visitors can explore charming shops, cafes, and restaurants that offer a taste of local cuisine and traditional crafts.
Lovran is known for its pleasant climate and beautiful coastline. The town boasts several picturesque pebble beaches and crystal-clear waters, making it an ideal destination for swimming, sunbathing, and water activities. The Lungomare, a seaside promenade that stretches along the coast, provides a scenic path for leisurely walks or bike rides with breathtaking views.
In addition to its natural beauty, Lovran is famous for its lush vegetation and rich horticultural tradition. The town is renowned for its beautiful parks and gardens, including the famous Villa Angiolina Park. Villa Angiolina, built in the 19th century, was the first hotel in Lovran and has a stunning botanical garden featuring various plant species from around the world.
Lovran is also known for its annual events and festivals. One of the most popular is the Lovran Cherry Festival, held in June, where visitors can enjoy local cherries and various cherry-themed activities. The town's cultural heritage is celebrated during the Summer of Lovran festival, featuring concerts, theater performances, and art exhibitions.
For those seeking outdoor adventures, Lovran offers opportunities for hiking in the nearby Učka Nature Park, which provides stunning panoramic views of the Istrian Peninsula. The park is also home to diverse flora and fauna, including numerous hiking trails and picnic areas.
Overall, Lovran is a charming coastal town that offers a combination of natural beauty, rich history, and a relaxed atmosphere. It is an ideal destination for those looking to explore the Croatian coastline, indulge in local cuisine, and enjoy a laid-back Mediterranean experience.

The walkway goes from Volosko through opatija all the way to Lovran . Lots of places on the way to stop and swim or have a meal or coffee. 3 hour walk. Rijeka has a beautiful Center and Trsat is nice too.

It's a great walk for sure! I'd like to return when it's nicer, weather wise. I didn't have the best at the time.

We're flying over in September - we were going to take a bus from Zagreb to either Rijeka or Opatija to start exploring Istria - but would Lovran be a better base for our daytrips, I wonder? The promenade is so pretty!

I skipped Rijeka because I was told it was more industrial and that they didn't enjoy it as much. But Opatija is quite amazing as well, bigger town than Lovran and a really long seaside promenade. I enjoy the smaller less known places..but you can't go wrong staying in Opatija, lovely place. That will be my next video :)

@@ArwinTours Opatija was for Germans what was Nice for British tourists. Quite luxurious and expensive with old villas and architecture from Austro-Hungarian times.

@@Veslanjejezivot I could see the luxuriousness of the place while walking around. I can imagine how expensive it is during the busy season.
